Kentucky Supreme Court Tosses Suit Against Christian Who Refused to make LGBT Pride Shirts

LEXINGTON, Kentucky, November 1, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) – The Kentucky Supreme Court sided with a Christian print shop owner Thursday in his fight for his right not to create “gay pride” T-shirts.

Blaine Adamson is the owner of Hands On Originals Christian Outfitters, a Lexington company that advertises "high quality, customized Christian apparel.” For the past several years, he has been fighting the Lexington Human Rights Commission over his polite refusal of the Gay and Lesbian Services Organization’s (now called the Pride Community Services Organization) request to print shirts for the Lexington Pride Festival.

The Kentucky Court of Appeals sided with Adamson in 2017, and the Kentucky Supreme Court heard oral arguments in August. The state’s highest court ruled Thursday that the plaintiffs “lacked statutory standing to assert a claim against Hands On Originals under the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government ordinance,” Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) reported.

While that does not speak to the merits of the case, Justice David Buckingham wrote a concurring opinion – with which none of the justices took issue – declaring that “Hands On was in good faith objecting to the message it was being asked to disseminate” and quoting the U.S. Supreme Court’s determination that “forcing free and independent individuals to endorse ideas they find objectionable is always demeaning.”

“Today’s decision makes clear that this case never should have happened. For more than seven years, government officials used this case to turn Blaine’s life upside down, even though we told them from the beginning that the lawsuit didn’t comply with the city’s own legal requirements,” ADF senior counsel Jim Campbell said. “The First Amendment protects Blaine’s right to continue serving all people while declining to print messages that violate his faith. Justice David Buckingham recognized this in his concurring opinion, and no member......

This little company was targeted. Bank it. No doubt there are dozens of shops within 50 miles that would be glad to make their stupid T Shirts

Remember, Tolerance will not be tolerated.

The Left are the Borg. Assimilate or die.

Nice to know our Team finally won one.

Now, can someone please explain how and why things called “Human Rights Commissions” exist in America, the Land of the Free and the home of the Brave?

It is so evident that the sodomites have a national campaign to target Christians. There is no reason a homosexual group should be going to a company that explicitly calls itself Christian except to have a flimsy reason for this lawsuit.

Oh of course they are being targeted. You never hear about them trying to pull this crap on Muslim owned stores because they know they would get their ass kicked before they got out a second demand.

This Sunday morning In selecting frequencies on the am band I happen to hear a local Lutheran minister’s sermon preaching about Sodom on a show identified by the station as the Lutheran hour claim God didn’t strike Sodom because of sexual practices but because they were prideful and *ignored (my interpretation of comment) the needs of the poor. Any FR hear this version which sounds like ?
Any Comments .

He may as well have painted a target on his back. His company name includes the word “Christian”.

These cases should never even go to trial.

There are thousands of companies out there that make printed T-shirts. This LBGT group did not have to buy their shirts from this individual. Amazon probably has hundreds of companies on their website.

Commerce happens when two willing individuals decide that a sale of goods or services will occur between them. If either one is unwilling the sale or commerce does not occur. Neither one is harmed by the failure for commerce to occur if another willing partner can be found in a reasonable period of time.

The LBGT group can not credibly claim that they were materially harmed in this case. And in todays society any claim of hurt feelings should be laughed at derisively.

I should have put that “not because of sexual practices” in quotes as I’ve done here because he actually said that.

Did the radio preacher mention the two angels that visited Lot and how the men at the door demanded that Lot hand over the angels so that they could have sex with them?

I don’t recall any mention of the poor in the story of Lot and his wife at all.

This preacher needs to read his bible more and the New York Times less.

The gay mafia goes around looking for Christian businesses, and sets a trap for them, hoping to force them to sell gay stuff.

I noticed the gay mafia never goes to muzzy businesses to do this. Afraid of being thrown off a high building.

Some day one of us will go to get something Christian printed and have it refused.

Be nice, say thank you for their time.

Then go somewhere elise.

Hold back the nastiness y’all use here.

Most evangelical Lutherans are crazy crazy dogma wise

I saw their convention in New Orleans a few years ago

A bunch of chubby friar tuck hair cut old women in mandals and no make up and green toenails

Bleary tie dyed kids

Bunch of signs about immigration and inclusiveness

This “public accommodation” thing has to be nailed down because its being used as an excuse for lawfare abuse by aggressive minorities.

Being in a business isn’t automatically the same as denying water-fountains or bus seats or having separate bathrooms for minorities.

On the other hand, Muslims should have to wash their hands before patient contact (problem in England).
