The One Thing Christians Dare Not Abandon
Bible Gateway Blog ^ | July 11, 2018 | John S. Dickerson

Posted on 07/28/2019 5:00:36 PM PDT by Tolerance Sucks Rocks

The foundational rupture in the tectonic plates of Western civilization is the breakage along the fault line of truth. The very concept of truth as we have known and inherited it is a Judeo-Christian concept.

Germany became a post-Christian nation after its seminaries and universities rejected the Scriptures as God’s perfect, revealed truth. The United States has become a post-Christian nation after its best seminaries and universities—founded as teaching centers for the Word of God—rejected Scripture as God’s perfect, revealed truth.

As American culture drifts further and further from anything Christian, the pressure to abandon the authority of the Bible will increase proportionately, even within churches and Christian institutions that once elevated God’s Word. Where the old view of Scripture as the Word of God was once tolerated, it will become increasingly offensive, out of style, scoffed at, and scorned.

We must remember that this pressure to abandon Scripture is not only social; it is also supernatural and satanic. Already within mainstream media and large metropolitan cities, it is tolerable to be a “Christian” in a relaxed sense. The dividing line is those Christians who take the Bible seriously. The “fundamentalists” are the dangerous ones—so the thinking goes.

As culture passes the Post-Truth tipping point, we will see some churches and ministries cave under pressure to make less of the Scriptures. Some recently popular teachers have already caved under this pressure. Every few months, we see another prominent Christian thinker, writer, blogger, artist, or leader become so zealous to be “relevant” that their cultural sensitivity first eclipses scriptural authority and then expels scriptural authority entirely.

Of course we need to be concerned when Christian leaders start preaching blasphemy.

And we should voice our concern.

But as for our own guidance, we have the perfect Instructions Book in The Bible.

Romans 1:18-32 isn’t about homosexuality, but about those who refuse the retain knowledge about the Lord. Becoming a champion of homosexuality, or even homosexual under those conditions, is like a canary that dies in a mine ... when it dies the miners should realize the danger it’s death represents.

But those who persist in refusing to heed the death of the canary, or in this case what the advancement of homosexuality as a cause celebrity means, do not escape ... they stay where they are, doing what got them where the air is so bad it’s poisonous, until they perish right where they are.

Repentance is possible, but what happens when people think repentance is evil and sin is good, those with degenerate minds, is there even hope for such as them?

Most recent example being Joshua Harris.

First he steps down from his pastorate because of child sex abuse going on in his megachurch. Then he disavows his prior writings regarding sexual purity. Then he divorces his wife. Then he says homosexuality is not a sin. Then he announces he is not a Christian.

As far as the child sexual abuse goes, I dunno if the Lord loves a hanging, but he's been emphatically approving of executions in the Biblical past. Some such should be applied at least some of these particular perverts.

Jesus:

“But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.”

(Matthew 18:6)

“The foundational rupture in the tectonic plates of Western civilization is the breakage along the fault line of truth.”

Some examples of governments breaking the fault lines of truth:
- Witch Hunts
- Slavery
- The Holocaust
- Abortion
- Homosexual marriage

That progression makes it sound like someone found out about his liking Cheese Pizza.

And is exacting a fearsome toll for silence.

Frankfurt School. Long march.

Most seminaries are now heresy factories.

There is generally more sound faith among laity than among clergy.

You see a similar thing in regular universities. The math and science departments have more real Christians and conservatives, while the "Religion" departments are full of atheists, semi-atheists and other types of faith-mockers.
