Easy Catechism Understanding prayers to God --- Who alone is to be adored! --- and prayers to saints and angels:
Prayer to God can be defined by the word ACTS:
- A... Adoration... (to God alone)
- C...Contrition... (He alone forgives sins)
- T...Thanksgiving ...(He alone is the giver of all good gifts)
- S...Supplication... (to Him we look for help and salvation)
Prayer to Angels and Saints defined by HI
- H... Honor (God says "Give honor to whom honor is due" and these are His honorable servants/friends)
- I...Intercession....In Christ, because we are all Members of His Body, all alive in Christ and all sharing the same spiritual life in Him.
Two different kinds of prayer, two ways to remember!

Nice. The second one would work with “Come, Thou Fount of Ev’ry Blessing,” too.

Ah! Thank you! Multiple hymn-adaptations, very much in the time-honored hymnal tradition.
(That, and the piety of plagiarism. Ahem, I mean "fair use".)

Few things are more useful than a melody in the public domain.

Beautiful,
Aside from it being my middle name,
St. Joseph has always been an inspiration to me as a husband and father.
Thank you

Beautiful lyrics.
It's so nice for once to see lyrics written in modern times that aren't cheesy. :-)

But that was written by a Protestant who would
never pray or sing to created beings in Heaven, which is utterly foreign to Scripture , despite its
over 200 prayers be believers .
Robert Robinson (27 September 1735 9 June 1790) was an English Dissenter, influential Baptist... He was also author of the hymns "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" and "Mighty God, while angels bless Thee", the former of which he wrote at age 22 after converting to Methodism....In January 1759, he moved again, to Stone-Yard Baptist Chapel, Cambridge, where he remained the rest of his life, first as Lecturer and then, from 1762, as Pastor.
Robinson pursued a detailed study of the Scriptures and early Christian authors, which soon convinced him of the inefficacy of infant baptism, compared with the baptism of believing adults. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Robinson_(Baptist)

There’s no logical debate. The Bible is clear on adult baptism. I didn’t realize people could argue against that? I suppose if one never reads the Bible or read a manmade one, they could believe anything.

But that was written by a Protestant who would never pray or sing to created beings in Heaven... Yawn.
I believe Tax-chick was referring to singing it to the tune, not with the lyrics from the Methodist hymn.
The tune, to which Robinson's lyrics are often set, is an old American folk song of uncertain origin.
