NY Attorney General Supoenas Every Catholic Diocese In Statewide Sex Abuse Probe
The Hill ^ | 9/06/2018 | Michael Burke

Posted on 09/06/2018 1:15:33 PM PDT by SaxxonWoods

New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood (D) has subpoenaed all eight Roman Catholic dioceses in the state as part of a probe into the church's handling of sex abuse allegations, The Associated Press reported Thursday. A source told the AP that the subpoenas, which went out Thursday, are requesting documents related to sex abuse accusations, payments to victims or findings from internal church investigations.

Underwood's office is investigating how the Catholic Church reviewed and "potentially covered up allegations of extensive sexual abuse in NY,"

The pressure builds. Will silence still be the Pope's answer?

It's a fishing expedition !

Underwood is only following orders from disgraced former AG Eric Schneiderman and Andrew Cuomo. This is more of a witch hunt than an actual pursuit of wrongdoing.

I would love to see Dolan and Francis gone because both are ineffective, cowardly leaders of the Church. They are part of the problem, and have not offered solutions.

The motivation for such an investigation is NOT to protect children, it is to: 1. Create even more hatred against the Catholic church, and more importantly, 2. to generate enormous publicity for the state Attorney General.

The US Catholic bishops adopted a program in 2002. It will be interesting to see how many abuses came after that time. If the dioceses did not follow the program, shame on them.

BTW, why isn’t the Attorney General investigating sex abuse in the public schools, where it is rampant? Oh, I forgot, liberals love public schools.

Well, isn't that the height of hypocrisy.

Cuomo acting like he's got the high moral ground on some issue.

That’s where we’re going with all this nonsense, so let’s man up and admit that the single most dangerous barrier to the complete takeover by the secularists is that damn Catholic Church.

Considering how liberal most Catholics vote, that could not possibly be true.

The Catholic vote is WHY the secularists/liberals are in the positions of power they are in as it is.

Hisoricaly, the most conservative non-secular vote is the Evangelical one.

You aren’t covering yourself with glory here.

The Catholic sex scandals have been around for decades and little or nothing has been done about them other than cover them up.

In the process of indicting the Catholic church, they may also inadvertently indict homosexuality.

The black vote splits 95-5, the Catholic vote splits about 50-50, but liberals in power are 100% the Catholics' fault.

Gotcha.

As with any group: If you don't police yourselves, you will be policed. And you won't like it.

Too many Bishops have failed to police their dioceses (or worse, been criminals themselves). The result is predictable ...

Yeah ... Plenty of swampocrats think that way ... and plenty of Bishops have played into their hands.

But We the People are armed ... Caesar will not have as easy a time with us as he did in Imperial Rome.

More likely a cover up. I’ll believe Albany is serious when I see a ****load of successful prosecutions.

“Rome” is the locus of all evil; therefore, “Rome” must be destroyed.

All else is irrelevant.

Bravo Dolan better start packing his bags. The Diocese of NYC is controlled by sodomites.

And the ratio of blacks in America to Catholics is what, exactly?

The 50% Catholic could be more in numbers than the 95% blacks.

I can count on one hand LITERALLY the number of conservative voting Catholics I’ve ever met in real life. And that’s growing up in WNY where there’s about a Catholic church on every street corner, and my entire family is Catholic.

IIRC, since 1952 the Roman Catholic vote has gone for the presidential demoncrat in all but four elections. I’ll post the results later. Roman Catholics decidedly gave us JFK.

In 2016, that changed when the votes coming from BOTH faithful Catholics and conservative Evangelicals went to President Donald J. Trump.
