This scripture is very appropriate for today, Pentecost Sunday.

Acts 2 (NIV) The Holy Spirit Comes at Pentecost

2 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

5 Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken.

Peter Addresses the Crowd 14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. 15 These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning! 16 No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:

17 “‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. 18 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. 19 I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. 20 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. 21 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

Your right. Today is Shavuot, or “the giving of the Torah” on Mount Sinai. This was done after fifty days from the beginning of the Exodus, which is where the term “Pentecost” comes from. It is also referred to as the “Feast of Weeks” in Judaism. It was 7 weeks after the Passover and the fiftieth day was the celebration of the receiving of the “Instruction” or Torah. Many believe that it occurred in 1312 BCE, which is probably why the Disciples had gathered in Jerusalem. John 1:1 states “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” This is the scripture that many Christians believe was evident at the Day of Pentecost and that Jesus was revealed. Pentecost rarely coincides with Shavuot because the Day of Pentecost is reckoned on the solar based Gregorian Calendar, whereas Shavuot has always been exactly on 6th and 7th of the Month of Sivan on the Jewish Calendar, which is based on a seasonally adjusted Lunar Calendar, which never changes. There is a counting of the “Omer”, or the fifty days from Passover to the day of Shavuot. This has been a Jewish Commandment since they were given the Torah in the Sinai, and is practiced to this day. Today, Shavuot is being celebrated as “The Shavuot Marriage Contract”, as a symbolic betrothal of God and His people Israel, in almost every Synagogue and assembly in the world. Christians believe that they are the “Bride of Christ”, so undoubtably, they chose Shavuot as the celebration of their marraige day between the Messiah and the Church. Have a blessed Shavuot and Pentecost!

>>>

19 I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke.

What timing, Pentecost and Shavuos, same day this year. Jerusalem, the city of Shalom. Pacific, another word that means peace. Also today on the island namesake of the 50th state of Aloha:

HILO — A fiery river of molten rock was on a collision course Saturday night with Highway 137 and the Pacific Ocean, prompting officials to warn about hazardous volcanic gas known as “laze” if lava meets the sea...

The crossing, which hadn’t happened by press time, would effectively split lower Puna in two, leaving only Highway 130 as the escape route...

"Red Road"

Island on Fire

Like the word shalom, aloha is used to say "HI", or "Bye". Not trying to be being flippant; I'm just noting the meanings.

The lava shut down about a 4-mile section of the highway, between Kamaili and Pohoiki roads, blocking one of the main escape routes for the area’s coastal residents. Officials said late Saturday that the lava had entered the ocean, and advised all people to avoid the area because of a new hazard: laze.

Laze occurs when hot lava meets the ocean, sending a plume of hydrochloric acid and steam - along with fine glass particles - into the air.

Laze plumes travel with the wind and can shift directions without warning, the county civil defense agency said.

The activity capped off a week of devastation, as The Washington Post’s Kristine Phillips reported: Before dawn Thursday, a big explosion sent a plume of ash about 30,000 feet into the sky.

http://www.watertowndailytimes.com/national/lava-spatter-hits-hawaii-man-shattering-his-leg-20180520:

There is one place in the Hebrew Bible where the word Aloha (אלוהה) appears, and only in reverse (verse 4). It's in the phrase he shall not fail nor be discouraged (לא יכהה ולא ירוץ )

Isaiah 42

1. Behold my servant, whom I uphold; my elect, in whom my soul delights; I have put my spirit upon him; he shall bring forth judgment to the nations:
2. He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street:
3. A bruised reed shall he not break, and the dimly burning flax shall he not quench; he shall bring forth judgment to truth:
4. He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he has set judgment in the earth; and the islands shall wait for his Torah:
5. Thus said God the Lord, he who created the heavens, and stretched them out; he who spread forth the earth, and that which comes out of it; he who gives breath to the people upon it, and spirit to those who walk in it:
6. I the Lord have called you in righteousness, and will hold your hand, and will keep you, and give you for a covenant of the people, for a light to the nations:

There are more island references throughout the chapter.

and the islands shall wait for his Torah

Today IS the day of the giving of the Torah. The day the fire met the sea, which is a metaphor for the nations. The 50th day. Pentecost. The 50th state is in the ocean named Peaceful. Acts 2 continues on about David:

Acts 2:29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.

Today (Shavuos, Pentecost) is the traditional date for the death and birth of King David.

Birth and death is saying "hello" and saying "goodbye", which is the same word: aloha, or shalom.

All true and information I was not aware of. I study in Hebrew as well, but never sought a meaning beyond Jerusalem as it relates to Shavuot. It is true that you can find Hashem everwhere because he is everywhere.

It was The LORD whom choose the day, not the Christians.
