Monsignor Pope Ping for his OSV column.
Fortunately, this false teaching is never in Scripture.
Salvation is in Christ alone.
Not a Catholic here, but with a Ph.d in Theology from a Jesuit University and with profound respect for the Catholic Church. Also, I attend a Catholic Church. My 2 cents is that all those who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior will be saved, regardless of denomination. Many of these have unfortunately been taught false preconceptions about the RCC through no fault of their own, and harbor no innate hostility towards the Church. Theirs is a situation of ignorance, yet in their hearts they feel unity with all those who have true faith in Christ. This is something which I feel Catholics would do well to understand. IMHO the Universal Church transcends any particular denomination.
Good old Tradition. Believe something long enough and it has the force of scripture. What could go wrong?
Hiya! How can you tell if you’re saved” This is a real and serious question. My sister is “saved” and we are not talking right now, so please pray for me and let me know if I’m “saved”.
Isn’t the “church” the people and not a building? Didn’t Yeshua say that where one or two are gathered in my name, there I am also? He also said that nobody comes to the Father but by me. No qualifiers or ‘yes but’ .....
Enough of the tickytackytrolling please!
Intresting article and thread from a few years ago.

Let us work out our salvation with fear and trembling.
Prayers for all those honestly discerning the way and that our Lord and Savior will draw near to each of us personally as we wander through this valley of tears.
I’ve read the word of God well over a hundred times. Salvation is not “in the church,” but in Christ who is Lord and Savior; the One who died for the sins of man. The church didn’t die for man’s salvation, it’s a result of man’s salvation.
Are you kidding or naive? You post on an open forum on a doctrine that historically damns all believers who will not submit to the pope , and which V2 such modified, contrary to how TradCaths understand it, and you do want to exclude argumentation?
Lumen Gentium [1964]: 16. The Church recognizes that in many ways she is linked with those who, being baptized, are honored with the name of Christian, though they do not profess the faith in its entirety or do not preserve unity of communion with the successor of Peter. (Cf. Gal. 4:6; Rom. 8:15-16 and 26)
For there are many who honor Sacred Scripture, taking it as a norm of belief and a pattern of life, and who show a sincere zeal. They lovingly believe in God the Father Almighty and in Christ, the Son of God and Saviour. (Cf. Jn. 16:13) They are consecrated by baptism, in which they are united with Christ. They also recognize and accept other sacraments within their own Churches or ecclesiastical [Protestant] communities...
They also share with us in prayer and other spiritual benefits. Likewise we can say that in some real way they are joined with us in the Holy Spirit, for to them too He gives His gifts and graces whereby He is operative among them with His sanctifying power. Some indeed He has strengthened to the extent of the shedding of their blood...
those who are baptized in these communities are, by Baptism, incorporated in Christ and thus are in a certain communion, albeit imperfect, with the Church .62 http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/cfaith/documents/rc_con_cfaith_doc_20000806_dominus-iesus_en.html
A close look at this Roman Catholic teaching shows the damnable heresy of Catholicism's gospel - that people can be good enough to be saved. "Dictates of (their) conscience" and "strive to live a good life" cannot be interpreted any other way than that faith in Jesus Christ ISN'T necessary for salvation as long as you are a "good person".
You can't be serious! What is "argumentation" to you and how is it different than a "lively discussion"? Everyone has to agree with you? Fat chance!
.
The Word of God teaches that there is no “Church!”
Salvation is yet to come, at the “Last Trump!”
