zeestephen replies:

I presume your comment is a reference to the 400 illegal workers employed by Rubashkin?

If Rubashkin could not afford to hire legal American workers, he could have closed his meat business, or he could have tried to build a different business, or could he have looked for a new job and worked for someone else.

No person, and no event, compelled Rubashkin to become a criminal.

Rubashkin chose to become a criminal.

Thanks for posting the Conrad Black essay.

You forgot to mention that Conrad Black is a convicted felon.

In 2007, Black was convicted on 3 fraud charges and obstruction of justice.

Two of those fraud charges were later reversed on appeal.

Conrad Black writes:

“Judge Reade did not disclose her involvement in the prosecution and did not follow clear guidelines that I believe required her recusal on the trial itself.”

zeestephen replies:

Judge Reade was involved with federal authorities in regard to the illegal worker raid on Rubashkin’s company.

That fact has been publicly known since 2010

The trial that Judge Reade conducted against Rubashkin involved only the fraud and financial crimes committed by Rubashkin.

At least one federal court has ruled that Judge Reade's presence in the fraud trial was permissible.

If you can not get the white trash babies to work for any thing less than CEO pay what can you do?.

This sounds like a less sanitized version of a Chuck Schumer or Jeb Bush speech on immigration. Does this mean that you're in favor of allowing companies to hire illegal immigrations, and the mass invasion of Third World illegals into the United States, or are you just making a special exception in Rubashkin's case?

Yes, I’m sure you’d be circling the wagons if the same criminal was Sean McLaughlin or Tony DiNunzio...

Have no wagons to circle, but your message is clear, I'm a Jew, therefore not to be trusted. Don't know who Sean McLaughlin is though I'm sure there's a criminal by that name somewhere. To my knowledge Tony DiNunzio has only done one 6 year term in his career at the top of the New England mafia. For racketeering and extortion. If you think that sentence was unjust, it would be interesting to hear about it. No need to reply, you just keep making a bigger fool of yourself.

Yes, I guess any one who believes they have a right
to run their business where they do not have to take
a job on the side to eat chooses to be criminal

I was picking random Irish and Italian names. I wasn’t referring to specific people.

I trust you to pull the anti Semitic card anytime anyone questions the behavior of a Jew.

I don’t want the Arabs in this country
any more than you do but the Mexicans
Has came here for many years and done
the work that the white trash, meaning
well fare raised kids was too spoiled
to do.

“illegal immigrations” should be “illegal immigrants.”

If Mexican immigrants are all such wonderful people, why are America's most impoverished zip codes located in border towns with Mexican/Chicano majorities?

If they were half as great as you say they are, those would be America's most prosperous towns instead of being squalid dumps. If you prefer Mexican illegals to your own countrymen, perhaps a better solution would be for you to move to Tijuana and live among them rather than encouraging Mexicans to scuttle across our border by the millions illegally. Mr. Rubashkin should do the same - perhaps he should have been given that option as an alternative to Federal prison.

Sorry, I have no idea what your Comment means.

Rubashkin’s business was failing.

He had three lawful choices. Close it. Fix it. Or find another job.

Unfortunately, Rubashkin did not want to give up his affluent lifestyle or give up the independence of being a business owner.

He made the fourth choice...

He borrowed $27 million he knew he could not repay.

I doubt anyone questions your affection for Jews. As I noted before, I think you're a Jew hater and are the classic "conservative" that brings the political right into disrepute.

Not surprising when hoe fits. There are Jewhaters on the right, even in the GOP and FR. You bring FR and our Republican President into disrepute. Was your opinion of any significance to most outside the hate and jihadist communities, Democrats could point to EEGator as representative of right wing, Republican antisemitism. Reporters would ask the President to disown you. Fortunately you're of no import at all.

The authors argument is a straw man, the examples he uses are crimes. Often not prosecuted since they're not often known about, but crimes none the less, and are prosecuted. I don't know about the federal immigration charge, but given the usually unmentioned fact that he was acquitted on state immigration charges, I suspect the only reason for dropping the charges wasn't the conviction on financial crimes. The good news, the government can still prosecute. The conduct of the judge seems to be particularly questionable. Not often a judge's husband profits from the demise of a company based on a case in wifies court. That's a privilege usually reserved for Congress. But I suppose nothing illegal about it. The sentence seems out of the normal range. The President of the United States thinks so, as do hundreds of legal professionals including 5 former Attorney General's. The President has put that behind us, the time served doesn't seem unreasonable. It's a shame that those with issues with Rubashkin, because of his faith, cast dispersions on our President. If it's true that the Jews bought him off, or that's he's a puppet dancing to Bibi's tune, or Sheldon Adelson's, then the Nazis had a point and the dems are right, President Trump should be impeached.

Random Irish and Italian names, one a top mobster, to make your point. Sure, I believe you. As to I trust you to pull the anti Semitic card anytime anyone questions the behavior of a Jew. . Good grief, are you illiterate? I don't want to play cards with you. I hold you and your ilk in contempt.

Wow! Commutation is not enough. I want the judge impeached and removed from the bench and the prosecutors fired and disbarred.

Until we punish the flagrant abusers in the justice system there will be no justice (and this is really why our country knows no peace).

This crap has got to be stopped.

If you put greatness on how properious some one is
then the Clintons would be your kind of people, and
you certainly should not disapprove of some one who
is trying to get it no matter how.

Zip codes in border towns? or could it be any town with a mexican populatioon legal or not.

As for me making a move I already live among many
Mexicans with out moving to Mexico and this is just
as much their country as yours or mine.

Some of the oldest family’s are mexican.

Yes maybe you would be very comfortable around the Clinton type.

I did not know it was a crime to borrow money even if you could not pay it back.

But of course if he borrowed it from you I can see where
you would be pretty sore.
