What another surprise, when called out for bad behavior, the anti Semitic card is pulled.

"It looks like he was guilty, innocent motives notwithstanding."
I'm not qualified to comment, but...
Would a person of innocent motives not withstand in ancient Rome, the Macedonian Empire, the Persian Empire, the Babylonian Empire, Sodom or the culture immediately before the Flood? You're correct. Many times, not. Many people with innocent motives, when accused, will not withstand in such civilizations. Prophets spoke of people being in prisons.
Prophets then spoke of people being free. In my unqualified opinion, Sholom Rubashkin committed an error against survival in a civilization said by its own lawyers, judges and their instructors to be modeled on their preferred government of ancient Rome.
All good young men should be impeccable in obedience and appearance, even though such impeccability is the pursuit of great men of war. I'm not speaking with any intent toward warfare today here but am referring to strategy for civil survival in a nation like Rome.
As a tenuously related aside, though, being impeccable for war and living "by the sword" are two different ways. One is the way of good preparedness for what one might have to do. The other is the robber's way, either informal or officious (to "live by the sword").
"What was the injustice was the sentence, which was clearly out of line, so much so I cant see any reason for it except antisemitism."
Yes, and large numbers of others who attacked do claim to be like Sholom Rubashkin. That's the most hideous part, hurtful even to an outsider as unqualified as myself. There were also other casualties: great men with the greatest sight and most successful teaching efforts going out to this dimmest world.

There is an editoral slant to this that does it no service. 400 illegals are 400 illegals, no matter how you cut it, regardless of how rife the idustry is with the practice. 27 years for non-violent crimes seems a bit much when rapists get far less, but many crimes over a period of time appear to have been committed.
I still side with Trump on this.

What another surprise, when called out for bad behavior, the anti Semitic card is pulled. Not surprising when hoe fits. There are Jewhaters on the right, even in the GOP and FR. You bring FR and our Republican President into disrepute. Was your opinion of any significance to most outside the hate and jihadist communities, Democrats could point to EEGator as representative of right wing, Republican antisemitism. Reporters would ask the President to disown you. Fortunately you're of no import at all.

Wasn't going to ping any more of these, but it doesn't seem to end and does bring the haters out.
The authors argument is a straw man, the examples he uses are crimes. Often not prosecuted since they're not often known about, but crimes none the less, and are prosecuted. I don't know about the federal immigration charge, but given the usually unmentioned fact that he was acquitted on state immigration charges, I suspect the only reason for dropping the charges wasn't the conviction on financial crimes. The good news, the government can still prosecute. The conduct of the judge seems to be particularly questionable. Not often a judge's husband profits from the demise of a company based on a case in wifies court. That's a privilege usually reserved for Congress. But I suppose nothing illegal about it. The sentence seems out of the normal range. The President of the United States thinks so, as do hundreds of legal professionals including 5 former Attorney General's. The President has put that behind us, the time served doesn't seem unreasonable. It's a shame that those with issues with Rubashkin, because of his faith, cast dispersions on our President. If it's true that the Jews bought him off, or that's he's a puppet dancing to Bibi's tune, or Sheldon Adelson's, then the Nazis had a point and the dems are right, President Trump should be impeached.

There is an editoral slant to this that does it no service. 400 illegals are 400 illegalsThe crime he was convicted of had nothing to do with illegals. That aside, imo without going into details, it goes beyond editorial slant. His financial crimes were crimes. The author is incorrect that they're never charged, though not often. They're the types of crimes that don't usually come to light. They do come to light when the lender takes losses, and decides to involve the authorities. The sentence does seem excessive. And that seems to me to be the issue worthy of discussion. Not immigration charges dropped of which he was acquitted. Not even PETA.

"Not surprising when hoe fits."
Yeah, EEGator. Taking advantage of SJackson's innocent typographical error, I'll say, "If the hoe fits, wear it there among the trailers of Methtown, ma white Ninja."
[Little effort to establish communication on the Juggalo level there. I try to be charitable towards them. Not very good at it, yet. Another one recently called me a "snob."]

I don’t know if this guy is guilty or not, but our court system and prosecutors are very corrupt, and I would not believe anything they say or any documents they provide.
Federal prosecutors are liars who often railroad innocent people into prison for political purposes.

In MarvinStinson's
comment #15, you'll find more information and good points made in the article by by Conrad Black (see "bankruptcy" for one). Conrad's pro-family, anti-divorce, pro-American advocacy attracted many influential people on the radical, anti-American and misogamist (anti-marriage) left in three countries to pursue him, until they found a way to give him a treatment similar to what was done to Rubashkin.
Before that, Conrad owned the National Post in Canada and sold it to the liberal Asher family, if I remember correctly (been a long time). The Ashers were honest and honorable enough to promise Conrad that they would continue the publication in such a way as to suit the readership developed by Conrad. It appeared that they had some respect and admiration for him despite possible minor differences of political opinion. As far as I know, they honored their promise.

zeestephen replies:
Nothing was confiscated from Rubashkin.
He was broke.
He was living off illegally obtained loans.
Half of his employees were illegal immigrants.
Rubashkin did not own a business. He owned a criminal enterprise.

Marvin Stimson writes:
6 former US Attorneys General, spanning the entire ideological spectrum of the nation, saw fit to stand up for Sholom Rubashkin. Explain that, Mr. Rabid.
zeestephen replies:
You need to do your own research, Marvin.
You are simply quoting the unsigned pro-Rubashkin essay that was posted at the beginning of this thread.
Every well known person who publicly supported the release of Rubashkin is a registered Democrat, or a Republican who supports Amnesty, or a Libertarian who supports Open Border immigration.
