Pope Francis on Friday urged Churches in Europe to step up efforts to combat intolerance, discrimination and xenophobia against migrants and refugees.
The popes words came in a meeting with national migration directors under the auspices of the Council of European Bishops Conferences or CCEE. He said he was saddened to see that Catholic communities in Europe were also defensive and unwelcoming towards migrants, justifying their attitudes on grounds of conserving their cultural and religious identity.
Pope Francis said we must recognize and understand this sense of unease, in light of the economic crisis which has left deep wounds in society. Furthermore, he said, governments and communities have been ill prepared to cope with large influxes of migrants, highlighting the limits of the European unification process.
Churches become more 'catholic'
But from an ecclesiological perspective, the pope said, the arrival of so many Christian brothers and sisters offers the Church in Europe an opportunity to become ever more catholic. He noted how many migrants and refugees have already enriched parishes in their host countries.
Ecumenical and interreligious dialogue
From a missionary perspective, he said, ministering to migrants offers new frontiers to announce the Gospel and to witness to our Christian faith, while showing profound respect for other faith traditions. These encounters are fertile ground for developing sincere ecumenical and interreligious relations, he said.
Welcome, protect, promote, integrate
Pope Francis also noted that in his message for next years World Day of Migrants and Refugees, he speaks in detail about the need to welcome, protect, promote and integrate all people on the move. On the basis of these four verbs, he said, the Vatican office for migrants and refugees has published a 20 point action plan for local Churches seeking to promote best practices.
Constructive dialogue with governments
This action plan, he added, should be shared with all European bishops conferences, helping to promote constructive dialogue with governments ahead of the Global Compact for Migration, due to be draw up and approved at a United Nations conference in 2018.
This “pope” has chosen to become weaponized.
He is extremely dangerous, not only to the Catholic Church.
Migrants = murderous moslems.
“justifying their attitudes on grounds of conserving their cultural and religious identity.”
So the pope doesn’t want them to remain Catholic. Right there in his words.
Migrants who back home cut off the heads or crucified innocent Christians for their beliefs.
This from the pope who was silent when his Argentina was run by despots and thugs and invaded free people on the Falklands.
“Habemus papam” can’t come too soon.

Yep, we’ll get to that once they stop killing Europeans.
Illegals are not migrants. They are thieves steeling our children’s future.
“Smile while they slaughter you by the bushel.”
These are not refuges or “migrants”, they are member of a very well organized and funded Islamic invasion of Europe.
The Muslim's even have a name for this kind of invasion, a Hijra, and its goal is the establishment of an Islamic State via the demographic swamping of the target countries citizens to achieve a critical mass of Islamic dominant population.
The Pope's support for the current Hijra will inevitably result in the death of an already dying Christianity in Europe.
It seems that the Pope is trying to destroy the Catholic Church in Europe
Only the useful idiots are smiling.
Same thing happened to racist democrats in the South when Jim Crow collapsed.
Democrats went from ‘all rejecting’ to ‘all accepting’ because they didn't know where the lines were... a type of thinking that reflects a moral shallowness... The same moral shallowness we see in Pope Francis.
Which also offers some insight into why Pope Francis accepted the thugs and goons who ran his country... no moral compass beyond what's fashionable among the ‘cool kids’... What an embarrassment.
I’m not Catholic but it seems to me Francis is a “false pope” and is the puppet of a group that staged a coup against Benedict.

Democrats went from ‘all rejecting’ to ‘all accepting’ of anything blacks did because they didn't know where the lines were... a type of thinking that reflects moral shallowness... The same moral shallowness we see in Pope Francis.

YOUR RIGHT.
They are not refugees or migrants, they are part of a Muslim Hegira into Infidel countries for the long term purpose of taking those areas over for Allah.
Muhammad set this example when he fled from Mecca to Madina and took over, and spread Islam by the sword, when the Muslims became strong enough.
That's what all Muslims should be doing to please Allah and his prophet Muhammad.
Us Infidels should understand that is their motivation, and fend off Islam and not be encouraging our demise by encouraging the spread of Islam. -Tom
You are kinder than I am.
I see something in him which is more calculated and sinister than wanting to be cool and I don’t think he’s stupid enough to be allowed to use that as an excuse for his actions.
The second biggest disaster of the 21st century is Jorge Bergoglio, the first being Barack Obama.
A political militant and an arm of the Marxist movement, this is no “pope”.
What pope declares “combat” against law and order, sovereignty and national borders?
Sorry, but I do not think this Peronista, with his misguided ideas, should be meddling in secular matters. These “migrants” are all flocked up and intend to destroy Western Society, not enhance it.
I can’t disagree.
