The "Ecumenical Mass" Has Started

The group "Spezzare il pane" ("Breaking the Bread") in the archdiocese of Turin, Italy, has officially started with the celebration of "ecumenical masses" where Holy Communion is distributed to Catholics and non-Catholics.

The group is headed by Father Fredo Oliviero, an apologist for illegal immigration, who has the support of his archbishop, Monsignor Cesare Nosiglia. The practice of the group to distribute Holy Communion to non-Catholics, is openly promoted in the newspaper of Turin Archdiocese "La Voce e il Tempo".

Among the members of the group are "Catholics", Anglicans, Baptists, Waldensians and Lutherans. They gather once a month in one of their churches, where they celebrate a "Eucharist" according to the respective denomination, distributing "Communion" to everybody.

According to Fra Cristoforo, writing on maurizioblondet.it, these abuses are recommended by Pope Francis. Archbishop Nosiglia is informed about them but does not intervene. The future goal is to spread such gatherings to other Italian cities.

Distributing Holy Communion to people who do not share the Catholic Faith and have not previously confessed their sins, profanes the Holy Species, leads the participants to condemnation, and promotes superstition.

I always thought that if I were a priest distributing Communion at a Mass and Bill Clinton presented himself, I would pull out a prepared Tootsie Pop Drop and say “And here’s a special one just for you!”

More signs of the end times. Now you do realize that there will be more than just Catholics on the Glassy Sea, but you can rest assured that only the truly worthy will be there. Maranatha Lord Jesus!

As a Lutheran, I am drawn to the Orthodox practice of providing prosphora, bread that is not the Eucharist, for the sake of promoting as much Christian unity as is possible without profaning the Eucharist.

“you can rest assured that only the truly worthy will be there”

That is exactly how eternal life doesn’t work.

The Great Apostasy and the Abomination of desolation have begun in earnest.

We have an anti-pope in the Chair of Peter:

Who gives legitimacy to same-sex “civil unions.”

Who defends sodomy, and has blasphemous encyclicals, ghost-written by unrepentant sodomites, to alter the constant teachings of the Church against homosexual acts.

Who ratifies the mortal sin of people living in public adultery - and then sets up a situation to force priests to become complicit in the sin, by distributing the holy Eucharist to such people.

Who advances the cause of pagan Gaia worship.

Who defends and encourages pedophiles and pederasts.

Who regularly misquotes or quotes out of context the words of Christ.

Who publicly despises traditional Catholic teaching and traditional Catholics.

Who hates orthodox liturgy, and intends to obliterate the true Mass.

Who disavows and disrespects the natural rights of sovereign nations.

Who promotes all manner of heresy, typically found under the liberal banner of Modernism.

Who follows and preaches the Marxist doctrine of liberation theology ...

This is but a partial list of Jorge Bergoglio’s false papacy, which by facts is null and void. Benedict XVI is still the rightful pope. Bergoglio need to be thrown out on his Marxist ass, prosecuted, and then executed for his crimes against the Church.

Well that may be true, but Roman Catholics are a work-based lot, and that is how they think of it. So to the Greeks I became a Greek, and to the Jews I became a Jew,...as the Apostle Paul wrote.

With only five days to go, quibbling about doctrines of man seems a little pointless. How about we just love another?

I’m not Catholic. The first, and only, time I’ve taken Communion was at a Catholic Church in Sedona, Arizona. Was that wrong?

You don't lead anyone to saving faith by obscuring the Gospel of Grace.

Worthiness is a doctrine of man. Grace is a blessing of God. They are opposites. Not a quibble.

Do you have a plan if we are still here in 6 more days or 6 more months?

Yes, but if it was unintentional (i.e. you didn’t know you were violating a rule), don’t worry about it.

God is a loving and merciful God. (and boy, oh boy, am I ever glad He is!)

“That is exactly how eternal life doesn’t work.”

Actually...

“All this is evidence that God’s judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering.” 2 Thessalonians 1:5

The worthiness is His, not ours, but we still need it for Heaven in any case.

I doubt he does. I marked it on my calendar months ago (actually I spotted him some extra time into October IIRC). And if and when it doesn’t happen - and everything sure makes it look like it won’t happen - then I think he should be reminded of how easily he was led astray.

vladimir, this is perhaps the first time I’ve ever sort of agreed with you. Brief moment of celebration.

Sweet.

His worthiness doesn’t come to us by being the “most worthy.” Or works or sacraments.

It comes to us by the Grace of God, into the hands of faith in Him alone. It is His finished sacrifice on the cross and His righteousness, imputed to those who have placed their faith in Him.

Best.

RE: the Great Apostasy

Sounds like you have read Fr. Stefano Gobbi’s messages. I agree this is the time. The Blessed Mother said that the evil one would have to think he has defeated the Church in order for her to pull the rug out from under him. Recalling this gives me peace, although I am not really sure how faithful Catholics need to respond when our Pope can no longer be trusted.

yes it was wrong....I went to a Presbyterian church when visiting extended family and I did not partake of the “communion”....I think it disrespectful.....I assume that others study and prepare for their communion as I would mine.

If there’s anything the sola scriptura crowd hates, it’s scripture.

“His worthiness doesn’t come to us by being the “most worthy.” Or works or sacraments.”

It comes from His grace, but He gives that to use through things like His works (e.g. the Sacraments). The Sacraments are HIS works. He died to give us grace using His physical body to do it. Likewise, He gives us grace using physical things and all of that grace comes from His death on the cross.

“It comes to us by the Grace of God, into the hands of faith in Him alone. It is His finished sacrifice on the cross and His righteousness, imputed to those who have placed their faith in Him.”

I think, in a sense, you’re cheapening the power and grace of God when you say He only imputes His righteousness. No, through the power of God’s grace we are actually transformed (Romans 12:2). That’s why St. Paul talks of the new man, a new creature (Eph. 4:24; 2 Corinthians 4:16). God shares Himself with us, shares His divine life with us. That’s called holiness and it is transformative. We are new creatures, not just imputed to be new, but actually new, transformed. This is one of the reasons why John saw no Temple in Heaven in Revelation 21:22.

Then you need to read the Letter from James to find out how Grace really works. Pun intended.

I plan to occupy and watch until He comes. Same as I’m doing now.
