My wife joined me on a business trip to New York City in 2004. I took an afternoon off to give her tour of my old neighborhood – Battery Park City in lower Manhattan.
It looked a lot different than I remembered. That’s because there was a giant crater across the West Side Highway from where I used to live and work.
It was the 16-acre site where the World Trade Center once stood, before its twin towers were reduced to scrap metal and rubble by Islamic jihadists using fuel-laden jetliners as weapons of mass destruction.
As I toured what was then a makeshift memorial at Ground Zero in homage to the nearly 3,000 Americans mass murdered on September 11, 2001, I wasn’t as mournful as I expect.
Instead, I felt white-hot anger at the perpetrators of the atrocity. If they felt no remorse for their slaughter of innocents, I thought the United States entitled to an eye for an eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot. After all, I rationalized, “was there not a cause?” Hadn’t the radical Islamists invited destruction not only upon themselves but also their peoples?
Then I saw the World Trade Center cross, which somehow survived the collapse of the twin towers. It reminded me that God was still on the throne. And that vengeance was His alone.
That doesn’t mean that God expected America to turn the other cheek after Al Qaeda perpetrated the September 11 terror attack on our country. Nor does it mean the Almighty expects ours to be a nation of pacifists.
Indeed, the Bible is not a suicide pact.
So, as we mark the 16th anniversary of that great and terrible day when 19 sons of perdition aboard four commercial airlines took the lives of several thousand men, women and children, let us not delude ourselves that if we simply keep our peace our sworn enemies will leave us alone.
In words attributed to Thomas Jefferson, “the price of Liberty is eternal vigilance.” Over the entirety of this nation’s history, that price has borne primarily by followers of Jesus Christ.
And the evidence may be found in U.S. military cemeteries – from Arlington to Pearl Harbor to Normandy to Okinawa – where crosses adorn the final resting places of hundreds of thousands of America’s sons who paid the forfeit for their country.
Today, America is beset by new enemies. ISIS threatens a “wave of attacks” against our country and its allies. Pyongyang threatens to bring America to “a miserable end.” And Iran threatens to “depose” our president.
But the barbarians at America’s gates will not prevail. Because God protects our nation for the sake of those who follow after His son. And if God be for us, who can stand against us?
Murdered by those who worshipped the devil called allah.
I was on a public bus filled with high school age students, the older ones were just babies at the time when I saw today’s date on the digital clock.

The word “radical” in the title is unnecessary.
Let’s call a spade, a spade.
It’s not radical Islam, it’s ordinary, everyday regular Islam. Not all of them kill, but, then not everyone in any army actually fights and kills. But they are there to support the fighters.
People forget that so-called “Radical” Islam is not “Radical”. It is the very root of all Islam.
People also forget that this started with the PLO, a secular, Muslim terror group devoted then (and today) to the destruction of Israel and Jews.
The kind of Jihadis we experienced on Sept. 11 began with Afghanistan and then the Hizbollah soldiers in south Lebanon 1982-1983 who blasted the Marine barracks near Beirut in 1983.
The Hizbollah terrorists went on to car bomb the Israelis, and French forces there.
Then they tried to blow up the Twin towers in 1993 during Clinton’s feeble years.
So, in truth, they were working on these attacks way back in 1980 or only against Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich Olympic games. There, the PLO “Freedom Fighters” massacred unarmed sportsmen. It all began with Arafart...and continues with Abbas.
Today, Iran arms and funds the Hizbollah and HAMAS groups. It’s all out there to see but we refused (and still refuse) to see the reality on the ground.
...and the world cowered and quivered in mass denial.Imagine what would have happened if the United States had cowered and quivered in mass denial when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor.
What a difference a sixty years' descent into decadence makes! Who would have dreamed it?
Who would have dreamed that the mighty United States of America--the beacon of hope for all the world--would follow Europe and the rest of Western Civilization into suicide?
Who would have dreamed that millions of Americans would despise, call for the overthrow, and threaten the assassination of the one HERO who would sacrifice everything to save them and the beloved United States of America?
You are correct, they have been doing variations on this for 1400 years.
I still get mad watching the events of 911, I will pray for the souls of those lost.
NEVER FORGET! Just because “muzzies” claim to be passive about the destruction of Christians does not mean they are. (Their “book” tells them it’s OK to lie if it supports their causes) There are lots of “volcanos” that are calm but the do/can erupt when least expected.
Today, September 11th, I’m going to google “Celebrate 9-11” and see what pops up.
Lots of “Allahu Akbar!!” shouts from the Jersey side, no doubt.
