APOSTOLIC LETTER

 ISSUED MOTU PROPRIO

OF THE SUPREME PONTIFF
FRANCIS

MAGNUM PRINCIPIUM

BY WHICH CAN. 838 OF THE CODE OF CANON LAW IS MODIFIED

The great principle, established by the Second Vatican Ecumenical Council, according to which liturgical prayer be accommodated to the comprehension of the people so that it might be understood, required the weighty task of introducing the vernacular language into the liturgy and of preparing and approving the versions of the liturgical books, a charge that was entrusted to the Bishops.

It’s so much easier to just open my Bible and read it...

To each his own...

Bergoglio dislikes the 2011 ICEL corrected translations, and will side with Erie, PA bishop Trautman to delete any references to words such as “ineffable”, and “consubstantial” since “no one knows what those words mean anyway.”

The great principle, established by the Second Vatican Ecumenical Council, according to which liturgical prayer be accommodated to the comprehension of the people so that it might be understood......

So many problems with this very first line of the text.

1) "Liturgical prayer"? Does he mean the Mass?? Why not just say that?

2) No citation. Which Vatican II document and where in that document is this claim substantiated? I've read the bit about "Latin is to be retained as the liturgical language" but I've not read anything which supports the claim that "liturgical prayer be accommodated to the comprehension of the people".

3)".....so that it might be understood"?? A solution without a problem. The old Missal had the Latin prayers on one side of the page and the vernacular translation on the other side. "Understanding", in the human sense, was not difficult.

4) The false idea that the Sacred Mysteries can be "comprehended" by the human intellect and therefore more fully entered into by ditching Latin as if the Mass is simply a grammatical formulation. Only Divine grace can bring us more deeply into this mystery.

5) The appeal to the "Second Vatican Council" as the ultimate historical authority which overrides whatever went before.

This is going to be a train wreck. I know, right now, what the USCCB is going to do with this. It's back to the future with every trite, banal translation which the modernists can conjure up.

Francis appears to be Orthodoxing the Catholic Church. Turning everything over to the bishops. The autocephalous Orthodx maintain orthodoxy by their autocephaly. Francis is using that poly to make much of the Church Episcopalian or Unitarian as many bishops are of that mind.

Oh Dear God. To give any authority of translation to that non-hierarchical organization is like giving it to Noam Chomsky.

Pray for a new Pope in a hurry. We were taught that it is permissible to pray for an early and holy death for prelates doing harm to the Body of Chtist. Just a joke I am sure but????

Pray for a new Pope in a hurry.

It is by no means certain that his successor would be any better, as Bergoglio has spent the past four years stacking the College.

The current pope seems very mistake prone for someone who is supposed to be infallible.

Hopefully the next pope will not be a climate-change-believing communist (god controls everything except the weather).

Also the next pope should allow priests to marry and excommunicate and assist with the prosecution of priests who are/have been diddling little boys.

And the next pope should stop spending church money to advocate for illegal immigration both here and in Europe, and instead, seek to improve the lives in the countries where the illegals came from.

No more $$$$$ from me ever until those things are done.

Amen.

I don’t think he is the Pope. I think he is an imposter and that Benedict XVI is still the Pope. If you think if it that way, everything he has done makes sense. He’s a communist destroyer.

Don’t confuse the doctrine of infallibility with every homily and off-the-cuff remark made at 35,000 feet.—Even if he does (“I am the Magisterium!”).

Also the next pope should allow priests to marry

A horrible idea which would solve nothing and, fortunately, will never happen.
