Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The Ark of the Covenant, The Tabernacle, and The Temple

Exodus 35

Sabbath Regulations

35 Moses assembled the whole Israelite community and said to them, “These are the things the Lord has commanded you to do: 2 For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a day of sabbath rest to the Lord. Whoever does any work on it is to be put to death. 3 Do not light a fire in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day.”

Materials for the Tabernacle

4 Moses said to the whole Israelite community, “This is what the Lord has commanded: 5 From what you have, take an offering for the Lord. Everyone who is willing is to bring to the Lord an offering of gold, silver and bronze; 6 blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen; goat hair; 7 ram skins dyed red and another type of durable leather[a]; acacia wood; 8 olive oil for the light; spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense; 9 and onyx stones and other gems to be mounted on the ephod and breastpiece.

10 “All who are skilled among you are to come and make everything the Lord has commanded: 11 the tabernacle with its tent and its covering, clasps, frames, crossbars, posts and bases; 12 the ark with its poles and the atonement cover and the curtain that shields it; 13 the table with its poles and all its articles and the bread of the Presence; 14 the lampstand that is for light with its accessories, lamps and oil for the light; 15 the altar of incense with its poles, the anointing oil and the fragrant incense; the curtain for the doorway at the entrance to the tabernacle; 16 the altar of burnt offering with its bronze grating, its poles and all its utensils; the bronze basin with its stand; 17 the curtains of the courtyard with its posts and bases, and the curtain for the entrance to the courtyard; 18 the tent pegs for the tabernacle and for the courtyard, and their ropes; 19 the woven garments worn for ministering in the sanctuary—both the sacred garments for Aaron the priest and the garments for his sons when they serve as priests.”

20 Then the whole Israelite community withdrew from Moses’ presence, 21 and everyone who was willing and whose heart moved them came and brought an offering to the Lord for the work on the tent of meeting, for all its service, and for the sacred garments. 22 All who were willing, men and women alike, came and brought gold jewelry of all kinds: brooches, earrings, rings and ornaments. They all presented their gold as a wave offering to the Lord. 23 Everyone who had blue, purple or scarlet yarn or fine linen, or goat hair, ram skins dyed red or the other durable leather brought them. 24 Those presenting an offering of silver or bronze brought it as an offering to the Lord, and everyone who had acacia wood for any part of the work brought it. 25 Every skilled woman spun with her hands and brought what she had spun—blue, purple or scarlet yarn or fine linen. 26 And all the women who were willing and had the skill spun the goat hair. 27 The leaders brought onyx stones and other gems to be mounted on the ephod and breastpiece. 28 They also brought spices and olive oil for the light and for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense. 29 All the Israelite men and women who were willing brought to the Lord freewill offerings for all the work the Lord through Moses had commanded them to do.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

In the mid 20th Century, Our Nation, after having struggled with years of economic depression and brutal warfare, embarked upon a project: Here is a tiny portion of the Wikipedia Entry:

The Manhattan Project began modestly in 1939, but grew to employ more than 130,000 people and cost nearly US $2 billion (about $27 billion in 2016[1] dollars). Over 90% of the cost was for building factories and to produce fissile material, with less than 10% for development and production of the weapons. Research and production took place at more than 30 sites across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada.

The resulting Atomic Bomb helped end one of the most destructive wars in History, no matter WHAT liberals and revisionists try to say nowadays.

In the Exodus Story, we see the whole community involved in a huge project (ironically, to house the Power of the Universe into a very small and portable container!), and it takes all of their resources and talents. The gold, jewels, fabrics, precious woods and metals, plundered from the Egyptians (who GLADLY and lavishly donated them to get rid of the slaves), The wool and pelts from their own flocks and herds, and, of course, their own tools with which they once served Egypt, were all to be used for this new project. (Some of the Manhattan Project's personal, tools, and talents were looted from the enemy too, as I recall!). Like Oak Ridge and Los Alamos, a large tract of land was needed to create the tabernacle and to house the workers.

I make this rather strained comparison to show those who might doubt that people can accomplish the impossible. Doubters would claim that those raggedy ex-slaves could NEVER do such a project, wouldn't have the resources, didn't have the know-how, and could never achieve such an impossible goal. Some people on the "History" Channel will claim it was the work of "Space Aliens".

But for those of us who love Real History, or who grew up in the latter half of the 20th century, it IS Possible. And , by the way, with God, NOTHING is IMPOSSIBLE.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

God Bless America!

Amen. Praying for all Israeli leaders that they will not only have wisdom, but walk in freedom from corruption and selfish ambition. We pray that the Father would draw each one into a knowledge of the Lordship of the Son of God. Thank You, Sir.

as an addendum to your commentary, NEWwoman...and, most importantly, they were gifted with the desire and zeal to use those talents for the furtherance of His Kingdom. Father, may You give each of us that same zeal to serve you.

Amen. . .God gifted those people (for such a time as this)to fulfill His plan. How many are sitting on their gifts and talents in the church. . .and how many of those just need a little encouragement by those with the gift of exhortation (encouragement)?

In the Exodus Story, we see the whole community involved in a huge project (ironically, to house the Power of the Universe into a very small and portable container!), and it takes all of their resources and talents.

I've noticed that with the vast majority of ark images/renditions, the "negative space" between the cherubim looks like a tent (house). For example:

This one caught my eye, because it looks like a heart:

https://www.thoughtco.com/ark-of-the-covenant-700738

In either case, home is where the heart is. The tent concept reminded me of the [harlot] name for Jerusalem in Eze 23:4: Oholibah ("my tent is in her").

The name is interesting, because the name of God (Ehyeh) is in her:

אהליבה

"My tent is in her", also is His heart (lev Ehyeh). Looks like an example of the cure before the disease, the rectification before the problem.

2 Chr 6.6. And I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel:

Glory to GOD. All things are possible. Praying for the Peace of Jerusalem, for our families and friends, for those facing persecution, for our nations. (A side note: Praying for my aging father in law, who has taken to the theories of aliens and is trying to fit them into God’s word, works and plans.) Praying that deceptions would fall dead at the Throne of GOD.
