In the Exodus Story, we see the whole community involved in a huge project (ironically, to house the Power of the Universe into a very small and portable container!), and it takes all of their resources and talents.

I've noticed that with the vast majority of ark images/renditions, the "negative space" between the cherubim looks like a tent (house). For example:

This one caught my eye, because it looks like a heart:

In either case, home is where the heart is. The tent concept reminded me of the [harlot] name for Jerusalem in Eze 23:4: Oholibah ("my tent is in her").

The name is interesting, because the name of God (Ehyeh) is in her:

אהליבה

"My tent is in her", also is His heart (lev Ehyeh). Looks like an example of the cure before the disease, the rectification before the problem.

2 Chr 6.6. And I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel:
