Sleazy language vs “Kill the babies”
I hear you...there is no equivalence
Amen.
Almost all nations are undergoing this moral darkening. I firmly believe we are in the end game and the stage is simply being set.
Jer 8:20 “The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.”
“It is so vile and demeaning and embarrassingly crude it is hard to even relate to.”:
Got carried away with hyperbole, I see. Maybe you could train your guns on prime time TV with more justification. What Trump said was not meant for public ears; on prime time it is meant to overthrow what is left of Christian culture.
Problem is the sins are being exposed but people are not FEELING the Shame. That is an even bigger problem....
Trump is flawed but I think God is using him.
Hypocrites are being exposed and the double standards are laid out before our eyes.
This time is not for the faint of heart.
True but I also think for some, it's a time of reflecting on forgiveness, humility.
For so long, some Christians have made it a purity test for candidates. They've over looked the politicians actions just so long as he says the right thing. I think in some cases, we've had a form of idolatry in some of our candidates.
We as a nation deserve it. Our “leaders” deserve to be exposed.
“I think in some cases, we’ve had a form of idolatry in some of our candidates.”
I agree. It’s called emotional decision making where we fall in love with our candidate and become blind to their faults while demonizing anyone who presents facts that we have made the wrong decision.
I’ve asked my self that same question about my dislike for Hillary and my desire for her to lose. I’ll admit that I am more anti Hillary than I am pro-Trump..
Hillary is a stick in the eye candidate... the thought of her winning makes me cringe.
Recently I have been praying on this whole election process and surrendering it to God. No matter who wins, we are in big trouble as a country. It’s kind of like we now have cancer really bad and do we allow it to kill us or go through the painful surgery, chemo and radiation.
The one leads to certain death (selecting Hillary) the other at least gives us a chance of survival.
Excellent. Well worth reading!
I read the Bible completely in the last four years, and have been studying it.
I did not remember Nahum. I looked it up, and was presented with my lapse of memory.
I went to my Bible, and opened it. I had not spent any time on Nahum, I had just quickly read through it.
When I opened the Bible, it opened exactly to Nahum. The opening page was 1039. I read the whole chapter, and closed the Bible ( is is short). It is about in the middle of that Bible, but repeated attempts to duplicate that opening page all failed.
I felt like God was sending me a message, saying, I am on your side. Your enemies will not triumph.
Yes, it was only a Bible that opened to a specific page.
As a scientist and former agnostic, it is not statistically significant.
As a believer... message received.
Pastorbillrandles, thank you for the inspiration and the lesson.
The page opened to, 1039, was the title page. It was not in the middle of the chapter.
The things that I’ve seen in myself (especially in the last election when Romney ran) and some other Christians today with Trump is that we had created a standard so high for being a Christian and if there was a slightest fault, mistake or what ever we would dump you and attack you and say you weren’t Christian.
I had lost what it meant to forgive, to show mercy, and love. I ignored my own sins but attacked others for theirs.
Christians must condemn, rebuke sin but also shepherd the repentant sinner back into the fold instead of forever banishing them because of their sin.
"This decision is by the decree of the watchers, And the sentence by the word of the holy ones, In order that the living may know That the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, Gives it to whomever He will, And sets over it the lowest of men." Daniel 4:17
“I had lost what it meant to forgive, to show mercy, and love. I ignored my own sins but attacked others for theirs.
Christians must condemn, rebuke sin but also shepherd the repentant sinner back into the fold instead of forever banishing them because of their sin.”
I agree with you... When I am upset with someone else’s behavior, I stop and ask myself if it is a projection of my dislike for myself for similar behavior. I have found it is more difficult forgiving myself, or asking God to forgive me than it is to forgive someone else.
Secondly, forgiving someone does not mean that they have changed or I have become stupid and vulnerable to allow them to harm me again. Forgiving someone merely means that I have given it to God and let go of them.
Oh please stop, you're being absurd.
And by the way, Trump was reflecting on how women voluntarily act towards male power. With all your intellectualizing and moralizing, at least get the subject matter right.
On the opposite page of the beginning of Nahum, was Micah, 7:19:
You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.
Wow.... That’s weird. God never does that. Usually He picks those that perfect to complete His will..... :] Hey, Trump sinned and it’s out there for all the world to see. But if he truly repents and humbles himself before the Lord, He will use it to the good. Just how that happens remains to be seen
