Parents Rebuked by Miami Archbishop After Finding Evidence of Priest’s Inappropriate Relationships

MIAMI SHORES, Florida, August 2, 2016 (LifeSiteNews) — An investigation that began as a group of parents concerned with financial and personnel changes at their children’s parish school revealed that their priest violated archdiocesan policy by hiring someone with a criminal record who had also been arrested for prostitution, fired longtime school maintenance staff in order to hire his friends, and went on lavish vacations and outings with the man arrested for prostitution.

A group of parishioners who call themselves Christifidelis (“Christ’s faithful” in Latin) at St. Rose of Lima parish became concerned with the sudden news that the religious sisters who ran the parish school were to be replaced and that tuition would increase by 40 percent per student, attorney Rosa Armesto, a spokeswoman for the group, said. Since becoming pastor roughly three years ago at St. Rose of Lima parish, the changes that Father Pedro Corces began making at the parochial school distressed and confused parents.

“The maintenance staff had been there for years and years, and one of the things [Corces] did is he fired the maintenance staff for no reason,” Armesto told LifeSiteNews. “He hired a new maintenance crew which now we have found out that the people he hired were all his friends. And one of the people he hired to be a maintenance worker was someone that he was in a personal relationship with and this particular person, to make matters worse, had a criminal history.”

Christifidelis hired a private investigator, who uncovered police records revealing that Alberto Cardenas, who Corces hired as a St. Rose of Lima maintenance worker, was arrested for prostitution in 2000 for offering an undercover police officer oral sex for $15. In October 2004, Cardenas was put on probation after being arrested for felony insurance fraud.

When is Islam responsible for the actions of its adherents?
Where is RC responsible for the actions of its adherents?

Homosexual activity was pervasive in the Chicago Archdiocese and its Niles and Mundelein Seminaries since the 1960s at least. I heard many stories from kids, adults and seminary dropouts.

Everyone pretended that the Church institution was not responsible for the actions of its employees.

Now we are angry that the left says Islam is not responsible for the actions of its terrorists.

Does the Left have selective outrage?
Do most all of us have selective outrage?

Islam teaches violence. The Catholic Church considers homosexuality to be disordered. When Muslims commit violence they are merely doing what Islam teaches. When Catholics involve themselves in homosexual relationships they are violating Church teaching. There is A HUGE DIFFERENCE there.

Haven't you learned that in this age of political correctness, a/k/a, the age of free stuff to some, that only legal gun owners are responsible for their actions? Not only that, they [legal gun owners] are also responsible for the actions of the ones that choose use guns to murder and rob.

The Democrats have changed everything. Nothing is as it was. Good is now bad, Bad is now good. Perversion is now normal. Normal is now perversion. Black is now white. White is now black. Man and woman marrying at one time good. Now it is bad. Two men "marrying" each other used to be prohibited and banned. Now two men marrying each other is good, in the Democrat Party, it is a guaranteed method of advancement. I could go on, but, I think that you get the drift. Essentially, what used to be right is wrong and what was wrong is now right.

“Islam teaches violence. The Catholic Church considers homosexuality to be disordered.”

“Disordered”? Huh? A PC euphemism? Christianity considers homosexuality to be a SIN.

“When Muslims commit violence they are merely doing what Islam teaches. When Catholics involve themselves in homosexual relationships they are violating Church teaching.”

Christians believe that when people involve themselves in homosexual relationships they are violating God’s Holy Word.

“There is A HUGE DIFFERENCE there.”

Yes. A huge difference between Church teaching and God’s Holy Word. A huge difference between “disordered” (a rather charming word) and “sin”.

““Disordered”? Huh? A PC euphemism? Christianity considers homosexuality to be a SIN.”

FALSE. Christianity considers homosexuality to be a disorder. Christianity considers homosexual ACTIONS to be a sin. There’s a difference between disordered “orientation” and acting on it. Attraction is not sinful in itself. If you’re attracted to your friend’s wife, you’re just attracted to your friend’s wife. It might make life difficult, but it isn’t inherently sinful. To act on it, however, would be. Homosexual attraction is unnatural and therefore disordered, but even that attraction is not inherently sinful since it is not chosen. Homosexual behavior is chosen and therefore sinful.

“Christians believe that when people involve themselves in homosexual relationships they are violating God’s Holy Word.”

Thanks for proving my point: “involve themselves”. There’s a difference between attraction and “involving themselves in homosexual relationships”.

Everything I said is true and absolutely irrefutable from a Christian point of view.

The PARENTS were rebuked for exposing this stuff?

They should be THANKED by the church clergy for helping clean up the ranks of the clergy.

No good deed ever goes unpunished.

What an atrocity.

So just when is the Catholic church going to clean house?

This corruption goes right through to the top and nobody is doing anything about it.

Actions speak louder than words. "Official church teaching" is meaningless unless someone acts on it.

It's reprehensible that the parents who got together and exposed this stuff are being rebuked.

FALSE. Christianity considers homosexuality to be a disorder.

Got a chapter and verse on that?

God calls it SIN.

CHURCH teaching calls it a disorder.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Wrong. Jesus taught that what's in the HEART is sin.

Lust = adultery. Hatred = murder.

He set the bar much higher than just acting on the physical actions. Sin is a matter of the heart and is in the heart before it is in the actions. It doesn't become sin only when acted on. It's sin before that.

It also sounds like Archbishop Wenski may have his fists inserted in all of this. Up to his elbows.
