We don't like to be verbally insulted, but insulting others is not a good thing either. Which of these is preferable if no choice? Here is what we keep when we are verbally insulted and what we lose when we insult others.
In reality none of these are good. No one should be insulted, nor should we insult anyone. However, we also know that insulting someone or being insulted are unfortunately common occurrences throughout our life.
When You Insult, You Lose Your Peace
When it comes down to arguments, it appears that being insulted is better than to insult.
Yes, you heard it right. Here is how Father Thaddeus of Vitovnica explains this in his book "Our Thoughts Determine Our Lives." On page 176 he writes the following.
"It is better to be insulted than to insult. For if we bear an insult, we can still keep our peace; but if we insult someone, then our conscience will not give us peace."
This is, of course, if attaining and keeping the peace of Christ and living in the joy of the Holy Spirit are the highest goals for your life and that you are not going to let anything, any verbal insult or hurt stand on your way to attain these gifts. We have a holy duty not to do any harm, but only good if you correctly understand "love your neighbor as yourself" commandment. What to do next?

I try to avoid insulting people. It gets them agitated and then they start moving around making it harder to get a clear shot.
Politics ain’t beanbag, friend.
I am the belief that if you want to insult people then do it to their face, or be prepared too, otherwise you come across as a coward
It's better to insult, you ugly, stupid idiot.

insulting vs insulted
In reality none of these are good. No one should be insulted, nor should we insult anyone. However, we also know that insulting someone or being insulted are unfortunately common occurrences throughout our life.

âIt is better to be insulted than to insult. For if we bear an insult, we can still keep our peace; but if we insult someone, then our conscience will not give us peace.â

Forgive and Retain your Peace
If someone insults you, simply forgive him or her. Thatâs the discipline. As you remember, the deal is âand forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. (Matt. 6:12) An ability to forgive is higher than justice. When someone insults us we want justice because we think itâs fair. But what if justice is served to us for our misdeeds and wrong-doings?
This is why forgiveness is a higher category than justice. This is how God acts.
Yet, itâs better never to insult one another and instead see in each person the image and likeness of God. Letâs live this life respecting one another, live with love, in peace and without hurting each other.
I like ‘em both, but the moral high ground goes to the insultee.
OMG, I thought humblegunner would “welcome” you. hahaha.
Was out in town this weekend and an old woman was driving round the parking lot like an idiot shouting at people and insulting them. She was beeping at people , trying to get round people who were reversing out of their spots etc.
As I was walking to put the carriage away I saw her stuck in traffic and saw she was from NY.
I came up to the side of her vehicle and said you don’t have to do that down here as you are not in NY anymore.
Her response was more verbal’s. I just said “Look I am not going to get into it with an old woman , but you need to understand that down here people don’t take too kindly to people acting like you do.”
She was about 70, cursing at people and all because she could find a parking spot close enough to the store. Hopefully she get back up to NY and stays there.
It depends on whether you’re talking about Muslims or not.
Is it better to be pee-o’d or pee-on’d?
When you send people offsite to read material that you wrote, instead of posting
the whole thing here.. you may expect to be insulted and worse.
Stop being a blog pimp. We are not here to provide you with hits.
Run and tell THAT, homeboy.
Insulting people is usually a waste of time.
Better to crush your enemies. See them driven before you. Hear the lamentations of their women.
Insulting is good, as long as one is protected by anonymity and sitting at home on the couch. Creative insults are the best. Violent insults are hard to take seriously because of the aforementioned anonymity.
Being insulted is painful or pleasurable depending on the insultor. A lame, typo-filled, misspelled rant beclowns the insultor. But a targeted, creative arrow of hatred can be downright stressful.
It is better, insult-wise, to give than to receive.
Literally LOL.
:D
I was once told I had a 2” Ã#$% by a certain woman, who made the error of saying it in public.
“You’ve had a lot men pass through you, generally speaking, as you went from street corner to street corner. So, your confusion is understandable, given the effects certain diseases can have on your mind” I observed....
She mouthed off a few pathetic times more but, eventually withered amd left the scene of the crime she attempted to commit.
I think everyman there congratulated me and wished they had thought of the things I said.
I told them 30 years of watching other women humiliate, eviscerate and rob other men of their dignity and pride had given me years of preperation for when a woman said that crap to me in front of others.
Couple women even liked my verbally pummeling that witch and knocking her off her broom stick.
Bottom line: Never assault anyone who is obviously a “Type A” Alpha and lived with his competitors for 18 years.
Well played.
:)
LOL!
Those idiots are posuers...moving around is a subconscious acknowledgement of their act...
