How do you square your Christian faith with hatred of Muslims? (VANITY)
12/9/15 | Hoagy62

As one looks at the articles and comments found on Free Republic, you can see the complete and utter loathing, disgust, and outright hatred towards Muslims. It is viewed as a justified hatred, built on the actions Muslims have taken for decades against Americans and others. Notable attacks include the Beirut bombing of the Marine barracks, Beslan in Russia, the recent San Bernadino attack, and of course 9/11.

However, I was challenged by a few friends recently as to how a professing Christian can have a deep-seated hatred for Muslims. They reminded me of Jesus' command to love one another. They pointed out that He wasn't just talking about Christians loving other Christians (which can be difficult sometimes), but about Christians loving people in their communities...even those one may count as an enemy.

It's been pointed out to me that Christ's death on the cross wasn't just for me...it was also for the Muslim. He wants them to come to know Him as their Savior just as much as He wants us...or me...to. The problem they see is that someone won't want to come to know Christ if those who say they're His followers are in your face telling you that they hate you.

When I point out to them about the danger that Muslims have time and time again posed to society, they argue that Jesus didn't care if they were dangerous- He wanted His followers to love them, And, if that love had an element of risk associated with it, His followers were to love them anyway. A reminder of what that looks like can be seen in the story of the Christian men who ended up martyred by the Auca tribe in South America.

In any case, what they said is making me think. I want to know how one can reconcile a hatred for Muslims with Jesus' command to love people. It does seem that you can't do one and do the other as well. Yes...I am aware I may very well be opening up a huge can of worms, but this has been bugging me and I wanted to discuss it with my fellow FReepers.

Christ counsels to “turn the other cheek.” But, eventually, you run out of cheeks.

Jesus didn’t love evil, sin, or satan. One might say he hated these things.

islam is the evil. allah is satan & mohammed is his messenger.

This is plain in any comparison of Christianity & islam. These are not religions worshiping the same God. The words of Jesus & mohammed are completely opposite. There is no Golden Rule” in islam that applies to all, only muslims. islam does not adhere to the 10 Commandments. Jesus never advocated war, rape, murder, pedophilia, or lying. islam does.

The opposite of Heaven is Hell. The opposite of good is evil. The opposite of Christianity is islam.

What you must do is hate islam - satan’s religion, not muslims, who are but dupes who have not had the privilege of knowing Jesus. A Christian’s responsibility is to show muslims the vast differences between Christianity & islam, the difference between good & evil, not to attempt to reconcile the two. In this, organized Christian religion has not just failed, but has committed a grave sin by accepting islam as one of their own. Is that blasphemy or heresy, or both?

That reminds me of the assessment given by Winston Churchill.
Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen: all know how to die: but the influence of the religion paralyzes the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. …
He also noted that slavery would never end until Islam ceased to be a world power, due to the requirement in Sharia law that all women have to belong to a man in some way.

the modern world mistakenly equates criticism for hate

And affection for love.

One thing to point out when it comes to Islam and Jesus is the counterfeit Jesus of the Koran, and that text’s insistence that Allah has no son. People brought up with such a doctrine from childhood would find it difficult, albeit not impossible, to overcome that big lie.

It’s hatred for a violent and evil ideology, incapable of peacefully coexisting with any other ideology.

I’m surprised they didn’t frame the question this way:

“Has your life improved since you’ve stopped beating your wife?”

I do not hate Muslims I love them as fellow humans and hope and pray they come to the Truth. I hate the demonic system that hole them in bondage and destroys their souls.

Hating islam has nothing to do with religion so the article is bogus nonsense. Hating islam is bout the violence islam demands against all non muslims.

Righteous anger. Some people need killing.

Concise and accurate, with no wiggle room. Perfect.

I don’t hate them. I just find it very hard to share the love of Christ with someone who is trying to go to Allah and 72 virgins and take me with him in the process.

Now if muzzies want to do this, fine they can do it in the dirt bag country they came from. I won’t try to stop them. However they need to leave their Jihads over there.

You’re right. I’ve had a whole bunch of replies and I haven’t replied yet. The reason for that is that I posted this right before I went to bed last night. My thought was to read what responses, if any, I had in the morning.

Oh,boy... What responses I have had!

I appreciate everybody’s response. I was not trying to be a troll, or ask a question that was intended as a trap, or anything of that nature. I was looking for honest, real answers to the questions that my friends had posted to me. I absolutely agree that you must confront evil, and that you must destroy evil when it attempts to destroy you. It is my job as a Christian husband and father to protect my family, and when called upon to do so, to protect my nation.

I also agree that, while Jesus did tell us to love one another and to love those who hate us, He did not intend to have us love our enemies to the point of allowing them to kill us.

Thank you all so much for your replies. it is now my job to consider what has been written and to make my own personal decision on how I want to conduct myself from now on. Many of your responses were very insightful and I appreciate the wisdom behind them. Again thank you my fellow Freepers.

I agree with you about not hating people. There is some of that. We are to think of their need for conversion to Christ and not judge. And keep in mind how yhe West is turning from God which they see. Jesus actually didn’t say love one another to everyone though. That was to the Church. He did say love your enemies and love your neighbor. Something to remember too is that civil society isn’t the Church either. Where one should forgive something as a Christian that may not mean someone escaping prosecution if they’ve broken the law.

Good grief, has the entire FR community drunk the kool aid? I don’t hate Muslims and I don’t know anyone who does. But when it comes to a bunch of nut cases coming over here to chop off my family’s heads or set us on fire, I figure it’s my move.

And I never ever heard Trump say he “hates” Muslims.

I’m getting bored with people who equate opposition as “hatred.”

AMEN! AMEN!! AMEN!!! Just made a similar rant last night on social media when people kept posting about Conservatives and their supposed hate. Its a typical progressive/socialist tactic to silence or shame the opposition, and it should be resisted vigorously while the 1st Amendment still exists.

Thanks for the response.

I submit for consideration that most folks have absolutely no clue what "to love" and "to hate" mean.

Both of those words are transitive verbs; they require a subject and an object. One cannot simply "love" or "hate". One must love or hate something.

I submit for consideration that "to love" means to desire good for the object loved. That "to hate" means to desire evil for the object hated. To love your enemies is to desire (true) good for them. What is the ultimate good for a Nazi? A Japanese imperialist? A communist? A mohammedan?

Is it for them to continue in their evil ideologies, to achieve success in their evil ideologies?

Of course not. That path will send them straight to hell.

The ultimate good for them is to abandon their evil ideologies. It is for them to repent of their evil; it is for them to turn to Jesus Christ.

Do you love your enemies? Do you desire their repentance and conversion? Or do you prefer that they be damned?

Me? I will kill them if I must (or support those who kill them). Many of our enemies leave us no choice but to kill them in self defense. But I would prefer their conversion.
