Hell, the underworld, netherworld, Hades, Sheol, Gahenna are all names of hell are mentioned in the Bible more times than heaven is mentioned.

To "eat" and "drink" are figurative uses of these words. Else we have to literally drink blood and eat flesh

take this all of you and eat it...'THIS IS MY BODY"....Take and drink of this, "THIS IS MU BLOOD"...doesn't sound figurative to me.

unless you eat of the flesh of the Son of Man and drink of His blood, you shall not have life within you.......Figurative????? I don't think so, but good luck with your theory.

For someone who doesn’t believe in the New Testament, referring them to it is pretty useless.

dagogo redux - read the entire Bible formally three times and still browse it from time to time, and am likely more conversant with it than most Christians.

And I have "formally" read it more than 50 times and claim to know nothing but Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

There is no hell! And I do not care what the Christian perversion of God’s Torah says. You will find no mention of an everlasting hell ANYWHERE in Torah or the writings of the prophets. It is all a scare tactic.

WHEW!!!!!!! That's a relief, now I can REALLY have fun here on Earth....thanks for the update!!!

Let’s see. Take the catholic version of these verses or not? The same catholics who say you can’t get to Christ unless we go through Mary in contradiction of the Word. The same catholics who deny Jesus had brothers and sisters in contradiction of the Word? The same catholics who believe you can lose your salvation in contradiction do the Word? I could go on. I think I’ll stay with the biblical meaning of the text.

Are you trying to spoil the fun of having eternally tormented souls to look down on from heaven?

Caatholics do not believe that you have to go through Mary to get to God....Jesus did not have brothers nor sisters from Mary, He did have cousins and we all know that they were often referred to as brothers and sisters. I as a Catholic believe that I can indeed lose salvation by willingly, through my own behavior and desire, reject Christ's gift of salvation.....unless you don't believe in free will.

Do you also believe Jesus was a door?

was He a shepherd?

was He a light?

Was He a vine?

was He a way?

these are all terms Jesus uses to describe Himself in John. Surely you don't believe He was a literal door? Or a literal vine? Of course not. In the same book He describes Himself as the bread of life. Was He an actual loaf of bread? Of course not. These are all metaphors He used to describe His role in iur salvation.

To read any other meaning into the text does a tremendous dis-service to the text.

You might want to check that one about not believing you have to go through Mary. One of your popes wrote that. I’ll get you the reference tomorrow. The whole cousin thing has been dissected already and shown to be bogus regarding the cousin interpretation. If you think you can lose your salvation you best be living with a priest to get forgiveness on an hourly if not minute basis.

So what, Christians tell each other they are going to hell all the time.

And Jesus asked us not to judge or condemn, that should include each other.

We will be known as followers of Christ by the love in our heart.

I pray He continues to teach me, so I can grow as a Christian and produce spiritual fruit. I know I have a long way to go, so I pray hard for Him to create a loving motivation that will transform my heart. amen

Would you claim Jesus has eyes of flame and a sword for a tongue?

Rev 19

And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses. From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will [d]rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the [e]wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”

But he doesn’t say the contents of the cup is symbolic of his blood. He says it IS his blood. And of course, it is the same blood as the blood he was about to shed the following day.

But in Revelation, what is being described is a vision. The things the visionary saw are bound to be symbolic. At the Last Supper, what is being recounted are words spoken in perfectly direct, declarative sentences.

But then you have to ignore John 6, where he says we are to eat his flesh and drink his blood. He says his flesh is “real food” and his blood is “real drink.” There is much more that he says that militates against the position that the sacrament of the Eucharist is merely symbolic.
