Name calling? How Catholic of you. I dismiss a church over it's behavior, the priest was the last straw. In so called conservative Catholic districts I saw my Catholic neighbors vote Democrat, pro-abortion socialists in every damn election. Then they put anti-abortion bumper stickers on their cars to show they are pro-life? They put them right next to their Obama for Senate stickers. There is a tradition amongst many old Catholics to vote democrat, they are old Union types I get that. I have seen outstanding priests, good honorable men replaced by Jesuits or liberal post Vatican II priests who are closer to Nancy Pelosi then Blue Collar Bob. As for insulting Lutherans, the Roman Catholic Church is the proverbial glass house. You really do not want to start throwing stones. All churches are houses of God each has its own dogma and traditions. My disappointment in the Catholic Church is this, when we needed a bastion of traditional family values and traditional leadership it has turned to the Jesuits for leadership. That more then anything signaled the Church was moving left of center, not in leaps and bounds but it is moving. The Synod is sending up trial balloons to gauge the reaction of the members, but more especially the hierarchy. they will determine if they can continue to move steadily liberal or slow the pace to not spook the faithful.

I think you missed the point of Petrosius' post. He is explaining the true meaning of the Mass, not lecturing you. Mass is the wedding feast of the Lamb, being there is EVERYTHING, whether one partakes of Communion or not. Even the excommunicated are still required to attend each Sunday and holy days of obligation.

I am a convert, and the church where I joined messed up my confirmation process (may have been a very liberal priest, I don't know exactly how this happened) by confirming me and giving me Communion but not first con-validating my marriage to my cradle Catholic husband. Low and behold, four years later my new parish figured out what happened and let me know I had been receiving illicitly all that time! So now I have to wait while hubby and I go through the process before I can take Communion again. Could take 6 months. But I am still required, and am going, and tremendously ENJOYING the Mass, because He is still there, and I can still be a part of that miraculous sacrifice each week. Sometimes twice if I sit in with my kids' all-school Mass on Fridays. :)

Mass, for me anyway, is as much about GIVING as it is about RECEIVING.

And as for the article, whatever crap comes down the pike, Christ in the Eucharist brought me to the Catholic Church and that is who will keep me there. :)

MOST people wouldn't have left it at that. HOW IN THE WORLD CAN A PRIEST "MESS UP" a confirmation process? That is UNHEARD of.
Now, we will have a BARRAGE of examples of "messes" from those anti-Catholic feelings that abound here.

Ni modo. Welcome to the Catholic Church. We are JUST like all the humans on the planet, behavior-wise. We just believe that WE have the true Church. I don't denigrate other churches, though. Why would I? They are also Christian...just not Catholic Christans.
However, you WILL see much anti-Catholic rhetoric here.

I guarantee you that the words “intrinsically disordered” referring to homosexual acts will be taken out of the CCC. Then I take myself out of these current regime of Francis. Am not Catholic, but my thought regarding taking communion is that to take part in it we must confess our sins and turn from them. In this respect, I don’t think anyone should be denied communion, but to go forward with no intention to repent is to make a mockery of it.

Do you confess your sins to someone or just say "Sorry, Lord, for doing ABC. I won't do them again." If THAT is so, then it's a piece of cake. "SORRY, Lord."
As you probably already know, we Catholics go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It's QUITE an emotional thing, even after ALL THESE YEARS, to hear the words:

I always shed tears when I hear that and end up saying my penance with tears rolling down my cheeks.

Well, what do you know. I not only AGREE with you but think that YOUR responses to Scripture are ALSO rather interesting to say the most.

I understand your concerns and agree with your thoughts.

However, I do not believe that the Catholic church will change its principle beliefs.

If Church leaders change this to gain acceptance of the current culture, then we have a serious problem of leadership, of men that are not led by the Truth of God.

As we currently face the lack of good moral leadership in the US, we may have to endure an inappropriate leadership in the Church. I believe that the Blessed Mother Mary as been very vocal in her concerns for the Church. The Church faithful will have to be strong and stand with God. It is not easy to be Catholic, but following the will of the Father will make us stronger.

We need to be strong and stand together with love of God and our neighbors. I can only control myself, yet hopefully influence and inspire others to do the right things and stand with us as we show our Love of God.

JESUS will judge the living and the dead. It is my job to to love God and help others love God.

I DO like your phraseology.
I would, without doubt, add "the standard Ph.D arrogance" before the "academia-speak."

I had to sit in on a LARGE crowd of Ph.D folks every once in a while. My boss sent me to those horrible meetings because HE didn't want to go. Lol. He send ME. PAINFUL. They were all absolutely conVINCED that their sh** didn't stink.

I FINALLY figured out a way to escape. I sat myself in the desk NEAREST the far exit of the Hall. After about ten minutes of "the standard Ph.D arrogance academia-speak" I would stand up, WINCE dramatically, and limp out of the meeting. At first, I would say: "Aaaah, my HIP really bothers me."

After a while, I would just stand up, wince and walk out. THAT was the ticket. I had to report to my boss and would always say the TRUTH: Nothing new, just the same ole, same ole. He would nod.

I retired only last year, after working for 50 years. Enough was enough. Gorg, am I old or what?
