Pope Francis has renewed his appeal to the Church to intercede for the persecuted Christians of Iraq.
The Holy Father is following with deep concern the dramatic news reports coming from northern Iraq, which involve defenseless populations, Father Federico Lombardi, the director of the Holy See Press Office, said in a statement issued August 7. Christian communities are particularly affected: a people fleeing from their villages because of the violence that rages in these days, wreaking havoc on the entire region.
At the Angelus prayer on July 20th, Father Lombardi recalled, Pope Francis cried with pain: [O]ur brothers and sisters are persecuted, they are pushed out, forced to leave their homes without the opportunity to take anything with them. To these families and to these people I would like to express my closeness and my steadfast prayer. Dearest brothers and sisters so persecuted, I know how much you suffer, I know that you are deprived of everything. I am with you in your faith in Him who conquered evil!
Father Lombardi continued:
In light of these terrible developments, the Holy Father renews his spiritual closeness to all those who are suffering through this painful trial, and makes the impassioned appeals of the local bishops his own, asking together with them in behalf of their sorely tried communities, that the whole Church and all the faithful raise up with one voice a ceaseless prayer, imploring the Holy Spirit to send the gift of peace.
His Holiness urgently calls on the international community to protect all those affected or threatened by the violence, and to guarantee all necessary assistance especially the most urgently needed aid to the great multitude of people who have been driven from their homes, whose fate depends entirely on the solidarity of others.

A serious Crusade is LONG overdue.
This time, they should use low-yield tactical neutron weapons to maximize destruction of the mohammedan vermin and to minimize loss of life among the Crusaders.
If they wait much longer, low-yield tactical neutron nukes won’t be enough.
Prayer for Iraq
O God, who art the unsearchable abyss of peace,
the ineffable sea of love, the fountain of blessings
and the bestower of affection,
who sendest peace to those that receive it;
Open to us this day the sea of thy love
and water us with plenteous streams
from the riches of thy grace
and from the most sweet springs of thy kindness.
Make us children of quietness and heirs of peace,
enkindle in us the fire of thy love;
sow in us thy fear;
strengthen our weakness by thy power;
bind us closely to thee and to each other
in our firm and indissoluble bond of unity:
Syrian Clementine Liturgy (in: For all God’s people; p. 73)
Litany for Iraq
For lasting peace in this ancient land – From you, O Lord.
For wisdom and compassion for all in authority – From you, O Lord.
For comfort for families separated or bereaved – From you, O Lord.
For the release of captives – From you, O Lord.
For safety and security for minority communities.
For refreshment for the weary and healing for the sick – From you, O Lord.
For continuing faithfulness of the ancient churches of this land – From you, O Lord.
For tenacity of spirit for small Christian groups – From you, O Lord.
For the mutual enrichment and support of those of different Christian traditions – From you, O Lord.
You, Lord of all, we confess;
You, Lord Jesus, we glorify;
For you are the life of our bodies
And you are the Saviour of our souls.
The response in the litany and this hymn both come from the Chaldean liturgy. The ancient hymn celebrates Christ the source of resurrection in all situations of death and deprivation. (in: With All God’s People, p. 21, 22)
From Anonymous:
Father God, Our Savior and King,
We come to You in despair over the evil being done to our Middle East Christian brothers and sisters. We ask that You would put Your hand of protection upon them and that You would sustain them as You did the Israelites in the desert. Lord, cause our brothers and sisters to cry out to You for help and show them the peace that only You can give in answer to their needs. In their darkest moments, Lord, keep them, strengthen them, and comfort them. When they despair that no one is coming to help them, Lord, reveal Your glory and restore their souls.
We ask you these things in the blessed name of Your precious son, Jesus Christ.
The Pope like the president keeps running around calling Muslims the “religion of peace” visiting their mosques and embracing them!
These savages of the Religion of Pieces (pieces of people they leave in their wake!) need to be exterminated!
Praise the Lord and pass the ammo.
What will happen to the many European and American ISIS fighters when they return home?
And they will, in order to create havoc here.
The average muslim does not fly planes into buildings and go around cutting off people’s heads. I do agree that more muslims should speak out about the nutcases in their faith. When was the last time some of these “muslims” like Kareem Abdul Jabbar or Muhammad Ali spoke out against the morons that make all muslims look bad? The answer. Never.
Neutron bombs are your answer?
For sure, THAT will change their hearts.
Bigger bombs, more bombs. That's the trick.
Casualties? Not a problem since it's a justifiable genocide.
Hmmmm, I dunno. It has a sadly familiar ring to it.
> Hmmmm, I dunno. It has a sadly familiar ring to it.
Yes, the ring of Hiroshima where millions of lives were saved at the loss of tens of thousands.
Horrible, yes, but what’s the alternative?
You wanna bring them some cookies and make friends?
WHAT a voice of reason from you, NKP_Vet.
I ESPECIALLY agree with your last line about American Muslims condemning the fanatics. There IS no escaping the fanatic who is willing to blow himself up, immolate himself (Tibetan monks) or poison a water source.
All one can do is MUZZLE the Muslim fanatics wherever they rear their ugly heads. Local mainstream Muslims really ought to speak out.
Caveat: Will our lamestream media air those moderate Muslim folks? Or do the media ignore them because they profit from the calamities and acting-out fanatics? MOST Muslims are NOT Arabs.
I would hope that the moderate voices of Islam would be allowed a lot of air time. Most Muslims are NOT Arabs. The BOLDED countries are Arab. Most Muslims are NOT Arabs. The BOLDED countries are Arab.
From the Internet.
=====================================
Countries With The Largest Muslim Populations (2009):
=====================================
Country: Number of Muslims
Indonesia: 203 million
Pakistan: 174 million
India: 161 million
Bangladesh: 145 million
Egypt: 79 million
Nigeria: 78 million
Iran: 74 million
Turkey: 74 million
Algeria: 34 million
Morocco: 32 million
Iraq: 30 million
Sudan: 30 million
Afghanistan: 28 million
Ethiopia: 28 million
Uzbekistan: 26 million
Saudi Arabia: 25 million
Yemen: 23 million
China: 22 million
Syria: 20 million
Russia: 16 million
=====================================
Most Muslims are NOT Arabs. The BOLDED countries are Arab and they aren't ALL Muslim, though I made them so.
Look at Indonesia--Asians.
....And sadly, either out of FEAR, SECRET AGREEMENT, or even that such MODERATE MUSLIMS THERE ARE NONE, are not around to speak out.
Yet I get NOTHING but “cricket sounds” that I hear from the moderate Muslims.
It was horrible and there was NO alternative.
My mother used to tell me about how frightened every one was here on the West Coast. She and most West Coast folks were POSITIVE that after Pearl Harbor, WE were next: San Diego, San Francisco, Bremerton--all the places with shipyards.
My father was busy serving in North Africa. He didn't have to because he was born in Mexico, was already 31 years old and already had a child. He and his family came here escaping the Mexican Revolution.
My maiden surname is a French name and the French family left France escaping the French Revolution. They weren't anyone important but they didn't want to live in civil war.
But, my dad volunteered ANYWAY because he was an American and grateful for the opportunity to show his adopted [He was only nine years old when he came here.] country what HE was made of.
He then went north to Anzio, returned to North Africa and got malaria. That almost killed him. But he survived and lived until he was 57 years old. Apparently the malaria damaged his heart.

You wanna bring them some cookies and make friends?
No need to be snide.
But I WOULD love to have some chocolate chip cookies and cold milk with you...any day.
> My father was busy serving in North Africa.
I am PROUD of your father, and very glad to see that you are, too. He is an American in the very BEST tradition.
> But I WOULD love to have some chocolate chip cookies and
> cold milk with you...any day.
:)
That’s very kind, really.
I’m sorry for boiling over about the Mohammedans. The unspeakable evil they are wreaking, not just in Iraq, but Israel, Syria, wherever that satanic death cult prevails, has seriously challenged my Christian perspectives.
Maybe I need to read this a little more.

Oh, and my grandparents left Italy to escape Mussolini, so I empathize with the French ancestors on your mother’s side of the family.
