Pope Francis has renewed his appeal to the Church to intercede for the persecuted Christians of Iraq.
“The Holy Father is following with deep concern the dramatic news reports coming from northern Iraq, which involve defenseless populations,” Father Federico Lombardi, the director of the Holy See Press Office, said in a statement issued August 7. “Christian communities are particularly affected: a people fleeing from their villages because of the violence that rages in these days, wreaking havoc on the entire region.”
“At the Angelus prayer on July 20th,” Father Lombardi recalled, “Pope Francis cried with pain: ‘[O]ur brothers and sisters are persecuted, they are pushed out, forced to leave their homes without the opportunity to take anything with them. To these families and to these people I would like to express my closeness and my steadfast prayer. Dearest brothers and sisters so persecuted, I know how much you suffer, I know that you are deprived of everything. I am with you in your faith in Him who conquered evil!’”
Father Lombardi continued:
In light of these terrible developments, the Holy Father renews his spiritual closeness to all those who are suffering through this painful trial, and makes the impassioned appeals of the local bishops his own, asking together with them in behalf of their sorely tried communities, that the whole Church and all the faithful raise up with one voice a ceaseless prayer, imploring the Holy Spirit to send the gift of peace.
His Holiness urgently calls on the international community to protect all those affected or threatened by the violence, and to guarantee all necessary assistance – especially the most urgently needed aid – to the great multitude of people who have been driven from their homes, whose fate depends entirely on the solidarity of others.

I ESPECIALLY agree with your last line about American Muslims condemning the fanatics. There IS no escaping the fanatic who is willing to blow himself up, immolate himself (Tibetan monks) or poison a water source.
All one can do is MUZZLE the Muslim fanatics wherever they rear their ugly heads. Local mainstream Muslims really ought to speak out.
Caveat: Will our lamestream media air those moderate Muslim folks? Or do the media ignore them because they profit from the calamities and acting-out fanatics? MOST Muslims are NOT Arabs.

My mother used to tell me about how frightened every one was here on the West Coast. She and most West Coast folks were POSITIVE that after Pearl Harbor, WE were next: San Diego, San Francisco, Bremerton--all the places with shipyards.
My father was busy serving in North Africa. He didn't have to because he was born in Mexico, was already 31 years old and already had a child. He and his family came here escaping the Mexican Revolution.
My maiden surname is a French name and the French family left France escaping the French Revolution. They weren't anyone important but they didn't want to live in civil war.
But, my dad volunteered ANYWAY because he was an American and grateful for the opportunity to show his adopted [He was only nine years old when he came here.] country what HE was made of.
He then went north to Anzio, returned to North Africa and got malaria. That almost killed him. But he survived and lived until he was 57 years old. Apparently the malaria damaged his heart.

I’m sorry for boiling over about the Mohammedans. The unspeakable evil they are wreaking, not just in Iraq, but Israel, Syria, wherever that satanic death cult prevails, has seriously challenged my Christian perspectives.
