Lots of evil was perpetrated in those days in war.

War with the Islamic forces in those days was a necessary response to their threat. That doesn't mean I agree with everything that happened in the Crusades but the only way to deal with Islam is to meet it with force and eradicate it. Nothing else will stop it.

I suppose the major criticism I really have is that they stopped too soon. Islam is still here.

Where would the world be if Catholics had allowed the Mohammedans to conquer Europe?

The worst thing about the Crusades was the sack of Constantinople. But that was condemned by the Church.

You do understand the Crusades were relatively speaking a minor skirmish in the 1,400 year Islamic war against the west...

Only in the minds of twits. People who can reason understand that just wars - wars fought to defend the innocent and reclaim territory lost to invaders - are by definition just.
