U2 frontman Bono talks about faith and life
ping
If it’s bone-O, I don’t care what he has to say. Even if it’s about our Lord. Sorry.
All the early U2 stuff is Christ- and religion-oriented....
They were one of the first Christian rock groups, IMO.
you might reconsider...it’s really a great short series of questions.
I hear your point, of course.
But...you might watch it anyways....
Possibility.
So doesn’t going from that format to generic rock of selling your soul?
Who is Bono?
Really good. Thanks for sharing.
As someone else mentioned their early works were very influenced by their catholic upbringing. I wish they would get back to that. Their early stuff (through Joshua Tree) was significantly better music than their last 4-5 records :-)
You should. You might be surprised.
Wow! Never knew this about him. I’ve always loved their music, but was always annoyed by him, thinking he was a kind of new age type. Loved this short video, especially the end when asked if he believes in the risen Jesus, he looks in the camera and says YES, I do.
It’s an inspiring 3 minute interview......
And He reclined among the tax collectors, whores, publicans, the Pharisees, and Sadduccees outside the temple asking Nicodemeus, “who IS this ‘Bono’ of which you speak?”
Yep. At least I “think” I get your point. There’s Scripture that says “who are you to judge anothers servant?”
Please forgive me for intruding.
Many musicians have Christian themes in their music. The recognition that an “overt” Christian message would negate their message has led many to seek alternative ways to reach people.
The idea is simply to get people to think for themselves. To think about the words on a very personal level.
Peter Gabriel, imho, walked the line very well with this song.

I have their Rose Bowl concert on Blue Ray. I’m not a fan and only like a couple of songs (I love Vertigo), but the tech used in that concert is breathtaking. It’s a show. The music is just a small part of it.
Being in three bands in KY, I actually get ideas from watching the video. I always “go to school” when watching big shows.
I didn’t know their music had a Christian background, per-se, but I did notice an overt spirituality to some of the lyrics that are in synch with some of the teachings of Christianity.
I don’t know Bono’s heart. I hope for the Lord’s glory and for Bono’s sake he has repented of his association with the un Godly aspects of the music industry.
I advise approaching him with extreme caution. In this “Who is Jesus” interview I hear arrogance, not humility. He laughs a bit too much while speaking about the divinity of Christ.
