Sister Jane Tells It Like It Is (Liberal Catholics revolt at Charlotte Catholic School)

In a testament to just how bad so much of what passes for Catholic education is today, note this reaction to Sister Jane Dominic Laurel preaching basic Catholic doctrine:

Charlotte Catholic High School has invited parents to a meeting Wednesday night to air concerns many of them – and their kids – had about a recent speaker’s comments about homosexuality, divorce and single parents.

Sister Jane Dominic Laurel, a Dominican nun based in Nashville, Tenn., addressed a student assembly on March 21. Days later, some students launched an online petition that called her comments “offensive and unnecessarily derogatory.”

A record of the comments was not available. But students attending told their parents she criticized gays and lesbians and made inflammatory remarks about single and divorced parents.

God bless Sister Jane for speaking the truth. "The complaining students and their parents should be told that if they are not actual Catholics they need to get out of the school and stop attempting to hinder real Catholics from hearing the Faith" Bravo Sister Jane!

The term that I have heard used is “Weddings and Funerals Catholics”.

I don’t know anything about that school, but in my neighborhood Catholics are little more than a majority in Catholic schools.

Many attend due to sports. Many get scholarships (free rides) so the teams can go to Div 1 state championships year after year.

Others just go to get away from crappy city public schools.
They haven’t been to church in years.

My church left me when it decided that divorce was bad for we common folks, but was OK for dead Ted...who still serves as an ultimate demonstration of low-IQ no moral POS humanoid life forms...at least, when he was alive.)

The Rev. Tim Reid, pastor of St. Ann Catholic Church, sent an email lauding the nun, saying “she represented well the Catholic positions on marriage, sex, same-sex attraction and proper gender roles … The Church has already lost too many generations of Catholic schools students to … a very muddled and watered-down faith.”

Bravo Sister Jane and Fr. Reid! Bravo. It's a shame that these kids have gotten so far along before being exposed to authentic Church teaching on these subjects but better late than never.

Catholic high schools these days are more “multicultural” than dogmatically Catholic.

Are you sure about that? All kids in our parish school attend Mass every Wednesday, Catholic of not. It's the same at the H.S.

Maybe during the school day they have Mass.

But in at least one high school they made the religious studies classes optional a couple years ago.

To your point, I have not done a first hand tabulation of who is going to church on Sunday and who isn’t. Just what I see and what I hear from parents.

I would invite them to put their money where their mouths are and unenroll little Johnny. You send your kids to Catholic school they will get a Catholic education and that includes the church teacings on homosexual acts and divorce. Perhaps they would prefer to send their kids to one of the pro-sodomy, pro-divorce public schools.

Days later, some students launched an online petition...

There are some that believe that they can bully God to change His mind. Petition. Protest. Get the media involved.

They have a very unusual state of mind.

Or C & E’ers when they jam the church and some other “Christian” is in your usual seat.

Their kids can also get the crap kicked out of them by the feral thugs that run wild at the pro-sodomy, pro-divorce public school.

If they don’t like Catholic teaching they need to go somewhere else.

Yep. Any appearance of compromise is a bad idea.

Despite that fact that the people don’t like what was said, you can’t chante what is. Homosexuality is wrong! It is not right for a person born as a man to revolt and refuse to live as a man. The arrogance of such an individual is evident. Nothing else can be said for such an individual. They are lost! It is, in the last, their choice.
