To save all my fellow FReepers the effort: No, the hyperlinked article is NOT about the 1931 classic directed by James Whale and starring Boris Karloff.

Frankenstein is the God story

God (Frankenstein) created this creature, us, humans, i.e Frankenstein’s monster or Adam

But Adam finds out being Frankenstein’s monster, a human, is a discouraging sickening lonely experience. His life is a curse, not a blessing. No one can love him.

I don’t know about the modern movie but the original story doesn’t expose anything. It was a story written for a friendly contest long ago in a much harsher world. If anything comes through worth analysis its the harsh realities of Shelly’s world.

I think people tend to over analyze the tendency to modernize old stories with modern themes. No movie or story can drive me to change my views on trans humanist psychobabble. I liked Avatar for the graphic effects alone. I thought the story was cartoonishly flawed.

I’ll probably watch the movie just because it’s sci fi/fantasy. I enjoyed the 1994 version with Robert De Niro, Kenneth Branagh. A lot of folks hated it, but TFB.

As did I, but I still ROTFL at Frank Caliendo's brief take on the subject of Deniro playing the monster:

Great vid.

I hadn’t thought about how much DeNiro uses that push-away hand/arm gesture. Caliendo has him down.

If they want to play God they should get their own dirt.

The previews looked gay.

When it’s free on Netflix I MAY check it out.
