An ecumenical group of religious historians and other scholars will convene at the University of Notre Dame’s McKenna Hall on Dec. 5-6 (Thursday-Friday) for a conference titled “Catholics and Mormons: A New Dialogue.”

The conference will explore relationships among Catholics and Mormons as their churches are increasingly allied in common social, political and relief efforts. Its themes will include “The Lay of the Land: Contemporary Mormonism and Catholicism,” “Catholicism and Mormonism in Historical Context,” “Revelation: Scriptures, Traditions, and Authoritative Teachings” and “Theologies of Encounter, Unity, and Diversity.”

Even though what's in it may be doctrinally correct, it's still not an official publication of the Church.

Kinda like the JST?

Apostles speculate and speak privately with out speaking officially or for the Lord. They do it all the time.

MORMONs tend to IGNORE stuff their PROPHETS say if they don't like it...

"Now if any of you will deny the plurality of wives, and continue to do so, I promise that you will be damned;

and I will go still further and say, take this revelation, or any other revelation that the Lord has given,

and deny it in your feelings, and I promise that you will be damned.

In the past the message needed to be tough to combat the zealous nature of the established churches.

The question is, do you believe that B.Y. was a false Prophet?

Do ANY of you "damned " SLC mormons reading this, who has gotten any information from your church, that old B.Y. was:

1. Speaking the very words of GOD
2. Drunk
3. On peyote
4. REALLY upset at SOMEone
5. Or just running his mouth as a man: a mere mortal, prone to the slings and arrows that beset us all or do you
6. just accept the FACT that you are, truly, damned for not following your Scripture found in D&C 132:58-66?

Notre Dame, the Catholic college....error right there...NOT a Catholic college, a “liberal” college. there, fixed it.

http://www.nd.edu/about/at-a-glance: The University of Notre Dame provides a distinctive voice in higher education that is at once rigorously intellectual, unapologetically moral in orientation, and firmly embracing of a service ethos.

Founded in 1842 by a priest of the Congregation of Holy Cross, Notre Dame is an independent, national Catholic research university located adjacent to the city of South Bend, Indiana, in a metropolitan area of more than 300,000 residents approximately 90 miles east of Chicago....

The Basilica of the Sacred Heart, the 14-story Hesburgh Library with its 132-feet-high mural depicting Christ the Teacher, and the University’s historic Main Building with its famed Golden Dome are among the most widely known university landmarks in the world.

..as a Catholic university what is it that we believe in? The Catholic faith is fundamental at Notre Dame...At the University of Notre Dame, no matter what you believe, you will be engaged, inspired, and welcomed.

Notre Dame Announces Gay, ‘Allies’ Student Group 12/5/2012 http://www.cardinalnewmansociety.org/CatholicEducationDaily/CatholicEducationDailyArticles/tabid/230/pfcatid/54/lnmoduleid/1725/Notre-Dame.aspx In what the University of Notre Dame’s student newspaper is calling “a historic decision,” the University announced plans for a University- recognized homosexual student organization as well as a full-time student development staff position focused on LGBTQ issues.

I GIVE UP.

TO PEOPLE WHO DEMAND WE CHANGE TO CONFORM TO THEIR BELIEFS OR LIFESTYLE:
If you call yourself Catholic, then be Catholic, and within the Catholic Church with its norms. If you are not a Catholic university, you can do what you want.

I just don’t get it...If you don’t believe or even like Catholocism, go find another church. There are plenty of others. Its a free country. If you don’t like America, go find another country. If you’re into La Raza go back to Mexico. If you’re into socialism and don’t like Capitalism..go to Cuba, or Europe. If you are an activist gay person, stay in Calfornia and don’t get into my face about your lifestyle or beliefs.

Believe what you want, its a free country...just quit demanding I accept, believe or even sanction what YOU believe.

And for God’s sake...Leave my Christmas alone!

No, that will be after they did the bones up of Kennedy, Chavez, etc., and posthumously excommunicated, after being counted and treated as members in life and in death.

"The Jesus of the Bible -- Jesus of Nazareth -- didn't need salvation!"

"Do you now see why the Mormons worship a different jesus?"

No, it's the same Jesus, you just don't really know anything about Him. Half of what you think you know about Him are fairy tales.

Luke 13:
32 And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.

Jesus' own words. He had things He had to do before He would be perfect.

Luke 2:
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

How can Jesus increase in wisdom if He didn't have room to improve?

"The Jesus of the Bible didn't sin, & therefore 'twas nothing to be "saved" from."

This is why I say, you don't really know Him. You think you do. But you don't. Being "saved" is about being proven. It's about obeying the commandments of God. Jesus had to prove that He would obey all the commandments of His Father. Which He did, He was sinless.

Matt 3:
15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

This is why Jesus had to be baptized. It wasn't for the remission of sin it was because He was commanded to. Just like we are.

Jesus worked out His own salvation and in so doing He became perfect. But He wasn't born perfect. The choice was His to make.

He is our greatest example. He was born into this world, He worked out His own salvation by obeying the commandments of God, perfected Himself, and took His place in Heaven. As incredible as that is, He did more, He paid the price of justice for everyone that chooses to obey Him because we are not sinless. He paid that price with His own blood.

If you call yourself Catholic, then be Catholic

The problem is that the definition the church of Rome effectually conveys is one that sanctions known liberal members, which kind the majority are.

I just don’t get it...If you don’t believe or even like Catholocism, go find another church.

They have been for decades in droves, mostly becoming conservative evangelicals, and you would think Traditional RCs (TRCs) would focus on the log in the eye of their church, and be somewhat glad for RCs becoming conservative Christians.

But largely instead, as has been seen rather incessantly here, they continually advertise and promote Rome as the elite church all are to submit to, and only attack evangelicalism as their greatest threat. As it is, for the preeminence of Rome is what is paramount.

Well isn't this just SPECIAL!!

Genesis 13:13
Now the men of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the LORD.

Genesis 18:20-21
20. Then the LORD said, "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and
their sin so grievous
21. that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know."

Genesis 19:4-7
4. Before they had gone to bed, all the men
from every part of the city of Sodom--both young and old--surrounded the house.
5. They called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them
."
6. Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him
7. and said, "No, my friends. Don't do this wicked thing.

Psalms 12:8 The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honored among men.

Doonesbury Cartoon for Feb/08/2013

Isaiah 3:9 The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves.

2 Peter 2:13b Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you.

Ezekiel 16:49-50
49. "`Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.
50. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.

2 Peter 2

1. But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves.
2. Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.
3. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.
4. For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment;
5. if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others;
6. if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly;
7. and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men
8. (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)--
9. if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment.
10. This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the sinful nature and despise authority. Bold and arrogant, these men are not afraid to slander celestial beings;
11. yet even angels, although they are stronger and more powerful, do not bring slanderous accusations against such beings in the presence of the Lord.
12. But these men blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like brute beasts, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like beasts they too will perish.
13. They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done.
Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you.

But there IS hope!!!

1 Corinthians 6:9-11

9. Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived:
Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
10. nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
11. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

If you could NOT change, you would be in most pitiful shape...

Stormy; are you totally ignorant of the FACT that Mormonism teaches that Christ blood is NOT sufficient to cover some sins?

The inadequate blood of the Mormon Christ

But under certain circumstances there are some serious sins for which the cleansing of Christ does not operate, and the law of God is that men must then have their own blood shed to atone for their sins.... If these offenses are committed, then the blood of Christ will not cleanse them from their sins even though they repent. Therefore their only hope is to have their own blood shed to atone, as far as possible in their behalf.... This doctrine can only be practiced in its fulness in a day when the civil and ecclesiastical laws are administered in the same hands.

-- (Mormon Doctrine, 2nd edition, Bruce R. McConkie, 1966, pages 92-93)

Blood atonement

Suppose you found your brother in bed with your wife, and put a javelin through both of them, you would be justified, and they would atone for their sins, and be received into the kingdom of God. I would at once do so in such a case; and under such circumstances, I have no wife whom I love so well that I would not put a javelin through her heart, and I would do it with clean hands.... There is not a man or woman, who violates the covenants made with their God, that will not be required to pay the debt. The blood of Christ will never wipe that out, your own blood must atone for it; and the judgments of the Almighty will come, sooner or later, and every man and woman will have to atone for breaking their covenants.

--(Journal of Discourses, vol. 3, page 247, spoken by  Brigham Young)

I could refer you to plenty of instances where men have been righteously slain, in order to atone for their sins. I have seen scores and hundreds of people for whom there would have been a chance (in the last resurrection there will be) if their lives had been taken and their blood spilled on the ground as a smoking incense to the Almighty, but who are now angels to the devil&. I have known a great many men who left this Church for whom there is no chance whatever for exaltation, but if their blood had been spilled, it would have been better for them, the wickedness and ignorance of the nations forbids this principle's being in full force, but the time will come when the law of God will be in full force.

This is loving our neighbor as ourselves; if he needs help, help him; and if he wants salvation and it is necessary to spill his blood on the earth in order that he may be saved, spill it. Any of you who understand the principles of eternity, if you have sinned a sin requiring the shedding of blood, except the sin unto death, would not be satisfied nor rest until your blood should be spilled, that you might gain that salvation you desire. That is the way to love mankind.

--(Journal of Discourses, vol. 4, page 220, spoken by Brigham Young)
