The Cool Pastor: An Oxymoron or Just a Regular Moron?
The Aquila Report ^ | 11-24-13 | Matthew Everhard

The unbelieving world will always do “cool” better than the Church. When the Church adopts coolness and relevance as its corporate values, it slavishly agrees to follow, lagging always one step behind the world. (This is why Christian music always ends up ripping off the sounds and styles of their secular counterparts, while Christian film always has a cheesy “cringe factor”).

... therefore He is both ancient and current - and now that I think of it, also a God of the future as well.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. ... Hebrews 13: 8

yes….and to my eye…..”the same” means relevant yesterday, today, and forever. Jesus spoke in parables involving the culture of His day - on earth as a man - and I suspect he would do the same today.

And He would certainly despise the hypocrits of today as well…..

Absolutely, unequivocally. And imho you are also correct that Jesus would regard the 'pharisees' of today and the 'phony cool' with similar contempt.

El bingo (a little spanish lingo).

U right…and to me, this article was a pharisee of today slamming the phony cool of today, and making the pharisaical mistake of lumping all of the "cool" into the phony camp. And oh, then pimping his book!! You can't make this stuff up…..then again, you don't have to.

This article isn’t describing “cool” so much as “trying to be cool”. One is impossible to objectively define the other impossible not to recognize.
