Russian Church Advises Lenin Advocates [to] Think About Burying Him

Moscow, October 29, Interfax - The body of Vladimir Lenin, the mastermind of the Great October Socialist Revolution, which lies still in the Mausoleum on the Red Square, should sooner or later be buried, the Synodal Department for External Church Relations' head Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin said.

"Debates on this issue will certainly continue. Probably, some harsh movements may cause rejections in public opinion, but one may and should discuss this subject keeping in mind that a Christian burial does not suggest exhibiting a dead body for many years," the priest told a news conference at Interfax.

Lenin's body has turned into a tourist attraction, he said. "If I were Lenin's descendant and a person who worship Mr. Ulyanov [Lenin's real last name], I would think about whether it is humanistic to exhibit the body," he said.

Carter to go to Lenin's Tomb to book a reservation for Castro's corpse when Lenin's checks out.

I would advice to stuff him in something durable and ship to Obama to worship and adore.

It may be that Russians are continuing to lose interest in Lenin and Bolshevik Communism or Communism in general, thus the change in the audience that views the body. This would be a good thing, the larger part of Russian society symbolically burying Communism, and to have the Church recommend it.

Ping to cunning_fish.

His ‘preserved’ corpse has never been examined by outsiders to protect those vaunted Russian embalming methods. My guess is he needs to be gotten rid of before it is discovered to be a wax dummy.

One time as I was walking through Red Square, I made a point to spit in the direction of Lenin’s tomb.

Many years ago, my father was in Red Square near the tomb. This was in the 70's (or 80's ?), and he was there helping with the new embassy.
He noticed that one man that he saw enter the tomb return to the back of the line. They were paid to stand in line.

The Communists INVENTED the phrase "optics".

I doubt Lenin was a Christian, so why would it matter whether his body is accorded proper Christian burial? If he was an atheist, he can hang around Red Square as long as he wants.

I think Fr. Vesevolod was using the description of our funereal practices to set up the zinger: “If I were Lenin’s descendant and a person who worships Mr. Ulyanov, I would think about whether it is humanistic to exhibit the body.”

Bury him like they did Stalin—Tear down the circus side show and build a monument to the people who died in WW II. Mr. Putin can be buried in a Church.

And they should take Ho Chi Minh out of that ghoulish Soviet blockhouse in Hanoi. After waxing that he wanted to be buried on hilltops north, central and south, his fellow commies screwed him too.

When Obama assumes room temperature, I half expect him to be stuffed and on display at some tacky mausoleum in Chicago. Bill Clinton however will just have his preserved penis enshrined at his presidential library.

AFAIK, not even Russian communists really want to keep Lenin on the Red Square. You’ll laugh but antagonists of his burial are actually saying he is not to be buried because you can’t desecrate the land this way. I think if you are to run a poll about it a majority won’t get a flying hug about Lenin. The question will be does it cost any taxpayers’ money to solve it either way.

It did get a smile, but I am grateful for any actions by those formerly enslaved by Communism, to delegitimize Communist policy and Icons (not meant as a Russian pun), it gives me hope.

It is a good day anywhere there are no buyers for Communism.

Communists Firmly Oppose Lenin's Reburial – Zyuganov - August 27, 2013 - "Don't fuss. Or are you going to provoke more bloodshed, similar to that in Chechnya, right on Red Square?"
