It may be that Russians are continuing to lose interest in Lenin and Bolshevik Communism or Communism in general, thus the change in the audience that views the body. This would be a good thing, the larger part of Russian society symbolically burying Communism, and to have the Church recommend it.

AFAIK, not even Russian communists really want to keep Lenin on the Red Square. You’ll laugh but antagonists of his burial are actually saying he is not to be buried because you can’t desecrate the land this way. I think if you are to run a poll about it a majority won’t get a flying hug about Lenin. The question will be does it cost any taxpayers’ money to solve it either way.
