It seems that, today, God wants a loose network of independent pockets of Catholic Resistance, gathered around the Mass, freely contacting one another, but with no structure of false obedience, which served to sink the mainstream Church in the 1960s and is now sinking the Society of St. Pius X. If you agree, make contributions to the St. Marcel Initiative; they will certainly come in useful. For myself, once my situation stabilizes, I am ready to put my bishops powers at the disposal of whoever can make wise use of them.
His Excellency Bishop Richard Williamson, London, November 3, 2012

He is no Marcel Lefebvre (Clearly I mean that in a complimentary way to Bishop Lefebvre).
I feel like Lefebvre would be gladdened to see the new direction Benedict XVI has taken if he was still alive.
Williamson is a rebellious crank that gives Traditional Catholicism an ugly image.
Sorry, Williamson, they ain’t “your” bishop’s powers. Stipulating that they are authentic bishop’s powers they belong to Christ, not to you. If you don’t understand that, . . . heaven help you.
OK, now Williamson is officially Protestant. I don’t believe Msgr. Lefebvre himself would want to be “canonized” in this manner.
Right - I hope that was a clumsy translation - he sounds like a superhero or something.
SIDEKICK!!!!!!
Maybe a better word would have been “faculties”.
In any case, the SSPX is better off without him, and I pray for their regularization.
Once that happens I will gladly be a regular contributor to the society. Aside from my (FSSP) parish, the only religious contributions I make are to the FSSP ifself and to holy orders of women religious, such as the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist.
I certainly don’t trust the (mainstream) American church with my donations until they get their act together. Sadly, I see no serious signs of this. I had hih hopes for Cardinal Dolan but he’s been shown to be an accomodator to Caesar.
Hopefully the SSPX can now move back toward full communion and obedience to the Pope, stop talking about the “errors” of the written magisterial acts of an ecumenical council ratified by the Pope (i.e., Vatican II) and instead debate respectfully about errors in interpretation and implementation of such written acts in light of the continual teachings of the magisterium throughout the millenia. Please, SSPXers, be a bit humble and submit to the yoke of Peter — the Church needs your strong witness to tradition!
That took about as long as I'd expected.
He’s a flip flopper. He was a Protestant, then a Catholic and now a Protestant again. I’ve dealt with him and he is a snake.
Here he holds himself out to the highest bidder to sel his bishop’s powers. Ha, what a joke. He belongs with 0bambi and Biteme.
I am grateful to the SSPX for keeping Catholic Tradition alive and I pray for their regularization. Pope Benedict may be their last chance. It is, of course, up to God.
The irony. In the name of “tradition” he refuses to submit to the Tradition of obeying the Pope and Magisterium. It just shows that he is very untraditional.
I can assure you that if you “feel” that His Excellency, Archbishop Lefebvre would have approved the direction of Pope Benedict XVI, then your feelings are completely in error.
You must not have read the Archbishop’s writings or sermons. He would have been horrified by what is happening now. The pope calling for a one world banking and governing system. Trying to unite all religions under one banner without the non-Catholic religions converting, going to the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem to pray leaving his pectoral crucifix behind, as ordered by the Jews, taking active part in Lutheran services, organizing another syncretistic Assisi farce, his insisting that the beloved Archbishop’s Society accept Vatican II and that monstrosity the Novus Ordo Missae are just a few of the terrible moves on the part of the pope.
Everything that Bishops Tissier, de Galarreta and Williamson have said in this regard is true.
Bishop Williamson does possess all the powers of a bishop, they are his. They come from Our Lord through Our Lady, of course. But you have no reason to correct His Lordship on this point. He has made no error.
It is interesting how many folks are slamming bishops and priests on both sides of this crisis very freely. Perhaps they do not stop to think and realize that either way they attack, they are attacking sons of the Most Holy Virgin who have done more for the Catholic Church than perhaps any other men alive.
Instead of attacking these noble priests, we should be praying for them with all of our hearts and for the Society of St. Pius X, so beloved of the Archbishop. And lets remember that His Excellency chose both Bishop Fellay and Bishop Williamson for their outstanding qualities. They were chosen out of many.
< shrug >
It is you who say so ...
How ironic! It would be good if Pope Benedict submitted to the yoke of Peter, we of the SSPX have never NOT submitted to it. I challenge you to find one pre=Vatican encyclical or Church teaching that agrees with any of the abuses that our current pope espouses and embraces.
How about the New Mass of Pope Paul VI that was invented by Protestant, Jewish and progressive and liberal “Catholics” and departed from the Mass as it had been for huncreds of years virtually unchanged? What about Pope Benedict’s taking an active role in Lutheran services, which is strictly forbidden to Catholics? What about his promotion of a one world government and banking system. Then there is his visit to the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem where he left behind his pectoral crucifix on orders from the Jews. Or his latest Assisi debacle that puts all of the false religions on the same footing as Catholicism, which is the ONLY TRUE RELIGION. This list is endless. Vatican II was the point at which the “official Church” began to formally lose the Faith. And the evil fruits of that Council have rotted the Church from the top down. Your name is Unam Sanctam, but that name can only apply to pre-Vatican Catholicism, the new Faith is neither one nor holy. Rome will most likely not regain the Faith until Our Lady chastises the world and Her Immaculate Heart triumphs. But in the meantime, we fortunate few members of the SSPX do possess it, Deo Gratias!
I believe you are wrong and disastrously so in the current environment when the Church is under attack from all sides. Our Lord appointed in Peter a person to lead a visible Church, not an abstract idea. We should be faithful and obedient to the person of the Pope and rally round him, as well as being faithful to Scripture and Sacred Tradition as authentically interpreted by the Magisterium through the ages. The Magisterium has living authority and didn’t just stop in 1962. The Ordinary Form of the Roman Rite is not heretical, invalid or illicit, even if one might have prudential objections to it and prefer the Extraordinary Form, liberated by our current Pope. The other stuff you mention is just nitpicking. There is overwhelming evidence of the orthodoxy of belief of our current successor of Peter, as with the previous incumbent, but SSPXers always seem tendentiously to take one or two tiny things and interpret them in the most unfair way to impugn the orthodoxy and the integrity of the Holy Father. That is not a Catholic attitude. And even if the Pope were to comply with every last one of your demands (and last I checked, Vatican I made the Pope the supreme governor of the Church, not you), I have no doubt you will find new grounds to criticize him as a “modernist” and the Church as a “Conciliar Church” that is a new religion. It is so tiresome. Get over yourselves, submit to proper authority in the Church and further the cause of “tradition” within the Church.
