Obama Camp Launches Desperate Ad as Catholic Vote Crumbles {only 27% of "Catholics" support Obama}
Life News ^ | 18 Sep 2012 | Steven Ertelt

The Obama campaign has launched a desperate new ad that it hopes will somehow turn around its poor standing with Catholic voters across the country who are turned off by the Obama administration’s pro-abortion attack on religious liberty.

... In 2008 Barack Obama carried 54% of the Catholic vote. Today only 27% of Catholics support Obama, according to figures from the pro-life group American Life League.

“Between August 15-19 of this year, American Life League commissioned a nationwide telephone survey of 900 self-identified Catholic registered voters. The focus of the survey was Catholic perspectives on the Church and nation. Below are some of the results of the survey,” the group said about a poll it conducted last month. “Only 27 percent of the Catholics surveyed support President Obama. Of those surveyed, 74 percent of Catholic men over the age of 50 do not support Obama, while Obama support among Catholic men under 50 years is only 25 percent. With Catholic women over the age of 50, the president’s support is only 23 percent, with just 31 percent among Catholic women under 50 years.”

a new video from the Obama campaign designed to turn these figures around.:

The Obama campaign has released a nearly three minute video of the President making an extended pitch to “faith” voters — the entire goal of the exercise is to give him the opportunity of saying these words while staring into the camera:
“The American people should know this: In a changing world, my commitment to protecting religious liberty is and always will be unwavering.... When it comes to religious liberty, Obama has backed himself into a corner. He cannot (or will not) take back his promises to the pro-abortion lobby .. So the only option he has left is empty rhetoric.

27% is still too much. Catholic freepers and others -- lets work together to target a 0%.

>> 27% is still too much <<

The vast majority are "socially conservative" (yeah right, most of them love Obamacare and 'gay pride' parades) Hispanic Catholics. The remainder are white people who were baptized "Catholic" but they sure don't practice the religion.

I want to say "THANK YOU" to the Church for finally coming together. I've been griping now for years with little or no effect and even called a Catholic basher. The left has all but taken over the church and very few have even noticed.

I really just have one question,.....What was it that changed your mind? Obama was the most radical abortionist in US history, but you voted for him by as much as 60% by some polls. The Dems are for homosexual marriage, taking prayer out of public life, I mean, you know the drill. But Catholics delivered the Dems all manor of public office from California to Boston. All of our principals were thrown overboard just so the Jesuit's could have their food stamps and welfare. For every conservative Catholic you could name, there seem to be 5 Pelosi's, 10 Biden's, or 30 Kennedy's. I can't believe buying a sluts BC pills with public money would cause such a turn around. It's a mystery.

So what caused these pro Obama Catholic voters from ‘08 to now care so much about abortion? In ‘08 there was much more attention to his voting record in IL on infanticide.

I’ll never understand a liberal Catholic. They should be excommunicated for supporting baby murder over the religion they claim to adhere to. Let’s start with Pelosi.

She’s on the “non-practicing” white Catholic list (despite what she claims in public)

How can this election be close if Obama’s Catholic support has dropped so much? Where is he gaining the votes to offset this loss?

In 2008 we lost by nine million votes.

How many votes are in the 27% of Catholics that Obama lost since then?

I think he’s toast...

Obama won across a wide range -- many people just thought "ok, a good looking "black" guy" -- even african-americans thought that. They didn't see the destruction that this guy could cause and also they didn't get the picture that he's not african-american but half-white, half- real African -- he's not a descendent of slaves and had an ivy-league education.

he's never had the same experience as poor or even middle class blacks in this country

The people I talked to in ‘08, both Catholic and non-Catholic, who were solidly against abortion and yet voted for King Barry were all sure that no matter how he felt about the issue Congress would hold him at bay. The most significant thing to those folks has been the fact that every single democrat they thought they could depend on was bought off when it came to passing what amounts to a blank page for King Barry to write on with no protection against the expansion of abortion and no religious objection protection.

Although it didn't show up in the polls, King Barry lost one hell of a lot of support when that bill passed because people realized that they couldn't always rely on their Congress Critter no matter what that critter said while running for office. I expect to see a lot more changes at the Congressional level than other folks expect although I'm not sure they're going to all happen this election. People who have for their entire lives thought “our democrat” is OK now know otherwise.

I'd hold off on the "thanks" until after the election. The Catholic Church has run interference for Democrats at least since I was in high school in the 1960's. A poll claiming nearly three quarters of Catholics oppose Obama does not make it so.

This is similar to saying the monolith that is the black vote really represents conservatives.

It's all utter nonsense until it manifests when it counts.

**Today only 27% of Catholics support Obama, according to figures from the pro-life group American Life League.**

This is good and bad news. The Catholic support for him is down a lot. I know our priest has addressed the subject of abortion many times at daily Mass.

Bad news — why would even 25 percent of Catholics (or are they CINOs) support Obama and abortion?

Interesting post, it seems convincing to me, I know you mean only a portion of a huge, diverse, phenomena, but to me it feels like you may be right.

If you find post election support for your suggestion, try to remember to post a thread.
