Today's Word from Joel Osteen (Open for Debate)

Posted on 09/13/2012 6:45:31 AM PDT by BereanBrain

I am sick of seeing Joel Osteen devotionals posted on this site.

His theology is so bad, I don't see how anyone who is interested in the truth can be fooled by it.

Then again, I don't see how anybody can believe Benny Hinn, Oral Roberts, Paul Crouch and the like are anything other than false teachers.

TODAYS WORD FROM OSTEEN

it's All about YOU. YOU need to be healthy, wealthy, and wise, Here, and NOW. Forget that junk about blessed are the poor. Seize your mansion, now. Be the best you can be. Army.

Joel’s is the “wealth and prosperity gospel” but with the “softest” sales formula in the industry.

No one is forced to read every article on FR.

And no one is stopping BB from starting his/her own threads. If BB (or anyone else) thinks there is a lack of "truth" in FR threads, he/she is welcome to post his own.

He does have great hair though.....but he is also one of the typical bible alone, scripture alone, so he can go it alone...and come up with whatever strikes his fancy...and he gets others to go along with it...cause it requires nothing of them....

He said ‘open for debate.’ I added my opinion. I never said he was out of line posting his.

Joel’s problem is NOT that he relies on the scripture alone (the whole reform movement is based on Sola Scriptura).

Joel’s problem is he looks at scripture through the lens of “what can I get” as do all the health/wealth teachers.

This may come as a shock to some, but the universe does NOT revolve around us.

I haven't paid attention to Joel Olsteen, so I don't know if he qualifies as a "prosperity" preacher or not.

But it's not wrong to call for self-improvement. Scripture does that many times. "Be transformed to the likeness of Christ...", "Renew your mind..." "Put on the armor..." "Put on the new ...", "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God..." "Hide your word in my heart so that I might not sin against thee.", etc, etc.

i disagree, if he wasnt going it alone in using his version of sola scriptura, he wouldnt be reading into the Word any health and wealth gospel, that he in turn, spits out to his followers....

Joel Olsten does nothing but remind us how good we can be if we believe in the Lord. How can that be a bad thing. Maybe you should start reading it instead of denouncing it . It may change the way you look at things. We all need
a reminder of who is in charge sometimes and Joel is just a messenger.
Lock and Load

Joel is one of the good guys. He always finishes with “find a Bible based Church”. He is uplifting. He says stuff like, don’t blame others, work hard, be positive, be happy when other people are successful. Is there anything he has done or said that is bad? He is a nice break from the Obama, MSM and all the other negative stuff we read on Freerepublic.

if you watch the CNN interviews with Larry King, you will find that Joel can’t answer simple questions that any 10 year old who has attended sunday school should know the answer to.

So he either does not KNOW the answer or is ASHAMED of the Gospel.

Either one is not good for someone who is a pastor.

Don’t judge by the “pleasantness” of his message - it’s not needed to convince someone to not follow God, just for them to follow someone who is not God.
