From the statement: For the sake of the Gospel, we, the undersigned, call upon Christian leaders and their respective ministries and organizations, if you plan on endorsing Governor Mitt Romney for the office of President of the United States, do so by clearly and unequivocally distancing yourself and Biblical Christianity from his Mormon beliefs. We believe in the freedom of religion, the free exercise thereof, and the principles of a constitutional republic...it is not our intention with this call to bind the conscience of any individual by telling them how to vote. If an evangelical Christian chooses to vote for Mr. Romney (President Obama or any candidate), that is a decision between themselves and God. The purpose of this call to evangelical Christians and leaders is two-fold:

  1. To protect the purity and integrity of the Biblical Gospel.
  2. To seize the opportunity to educate the America Public and Christians to the fundamental differences between historic Christian faith and that of the Latter-day Saints (Mormons).

While social and political causes are a vital and important part of the Church’s responsibilities, we believe that our primary function as Christians, both collectively and individually, is to preach and defend the Lord Jesus and His Gospel, as He is defined in the Bible, and has been affirmed in the historic Christian Church, its Councils and Creeds. In our postmodern era, Christians are taught to believe that truth is relative and sincerity is more important than accuracy. However, we believe that the good news of the gospel – justification by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone – could be compromised if Mr. Romney receives unqualified public endorsements from Christian leaders, their ministries or organizations, thereby potentially confusing the evangelical Gospel with the soteriology (false gospel) of the Mormon Religion. It is our contention that the general population should not be left with any uncertainty whether the theological cult1 of which Mitt Romney is a faithful member, namely The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons), and historic evangelical Christianity are one and the same faith. This we adamantly deny!

...it would be a serious theological error to equate Christianity with Mormonism simply based upon some common values. Since the Mormon religion was founded in the early part of the nineteenth-century, it has always been classified as a “theological cult” 1 by virtually every Bible-believing Christian denomination in the United States and the world. The reason they were given this “cult” label is based upon their theology. The doctrines espoused by this sect are not only unbiblical, but clearly anti-Christian.

I don't 100% agree with all wording chosen for this...I like what they have put together vs. the gospel compromise many Christian leaders have already engaged in by failing to distance themselves with qualfiers/caveats.

It is pretty straight forward for American Christians, pagans, unbelievers, etc. Vote for anyone other than the moronic Marxist imposter.

Do NOT complicate simple actions!

Ah yes, the real reason for not supporting Mitt. Religious bigotry and hating Mitt more than you love your country.

Never mind the people across the country who have lost jobs. Never mind the families who have moved in with their parents in order to survive. Never mind peoples life savings dwindling down to nothing. Never mind the damage the Marxist Obama is doing to the institutions of this great country of ours. You sir are a disgrace. You are the evil one.

This is hilarious! It reads as an act of desperation.

If your new breed of evangelical christian is fragile enough to confuse Mormonism with your brand of religion, you have bigger problems than a Romney candidacy. We have freedom of religion in this nation, but your screed does not read like it.

I see a big forced play here. What are you afraid of ? ? Perhaps you cannot stomach the idea of your faith being questioned. I smell fear throughout this screed.

Are you going to resurrect Tomas de Torquemada for your new inquisition?

Ah yes, the real reason for not supporting Mitt. Religious bigotry and hating Mitt more than you love your country.

Under no circumstances will I ever stand before my Maker and explain that because he was the lesser of two evils, I supported a baby-killing cultist who directly or through his organization proclaimed that:

  1. There are more gods than the one God revealed in the Bible.

  2. God is a glorified, perfected human being with a body of flesh and bone.

  3. God is polygamously married to dozens (at least) of wives, and spends eternity as a type of celestial stud engaged in endless copulation producing countless spirit babies.

  4. Jesus is the spirit brother of Lucifer.

  5. Jesus is the literal Son of God who was conceived through direct sexual intercourse between the Virgin Mary and God the Father -- or in other words, that God committed incest with his daughter Mary.

  6. A person is saved into heaven by virtue of their good works.

  7. A person must accept Joseph Smith in order to receive salvation.

  8. A person must pass in judgment before Joseph Smith before being admitted into Heaven.

  9. A person must believe in Prophet Lorenzo Snow's famous couplet: As man now is, God once was ... As God now is, Man may become

  10. A person must be sealed in a Masonic-based temple ceremony to his/her spouse for time and all eternity in order to become gods and goddesses ruling over their own planet.

  11. Non-whites are loathsome and cursed because of something they did or did not do in the dawn of pre-existence whereas people of European descent in general, and Mormons in particular, are white and delightsome and thus superior to minorities.

  12. Wives will only be resurrected after their husbands after he calls out their temple name from beyond the veil.

  13. Christianity ceased to exist after the death of the twelve apostles, to the point where all Christian Churches (especially the Baptists, Catholics, Methodists and Presbyterians) became an abomination in the eyes of the Lord.

  14. The Mormon Church is Christian.

Furthermore, I can't believe that any true Christian anywhere would ever contemplate supporting any candidate for any public office that espouses such horrible heretical and blasphemous doctrines -- be they Muslim, Mormon, or whatever.

In my case, if asked to uphold one cultist or the other, I will always support neither no matter what the cost or penalty.

More laughs. AND you bring up critical thinking? I do like the part where you claim that he’s lying about his future. Brilliant.

We are back to the core argument here: Are you a Satanist, Obama Fan, or just a person who does not understand philosophy?

If your new breed of evangelical christian is fragile enough to confuse Mormonism with your brand of religion, you have bigger problems than a Romney candidacy.

If Romney himself thinks he's a Christian;
If the Lds church will spend dozens of $millions of PR/Marketing if Romney is elected to re-brand itself even more as "We're Christians";
If 40% of the American voters don't even know that Romney is Mormon;
And if Most Christians Have No Idea What Mormons Believe...
...Then, by all means, let's help the spiritually vulnerable vs. the "we don't care who we vote for 'cause, hey, we're heretics-in-their-personal lives crowd that pops up in various venues."

They sure do. I think I'd rather have a mormon living next door than whoever wrote this stuff.

David Axelrod thanks you.

As do Valerie Jarrett, BHO, Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, Vlad Putin and hu Jintau. Why, there's enough hatred in his posts to bring Lenin himself to the inauguration party.

St. Peter, to Romney bashers "You had a chance to fix your country, and you blew it. You are still making it in Heaven, but you left hell on earth for the others".

St. Peter, to Romney voters, "Though Mormon isn't my preferred religion, you did right by your country, and helped to keep Chritianity legal. Here's your robe".

So do you believe the pro-traditional marriage folks who supported Chick-Fil-A are haters of gay people? Because your logic is identical. Some of us would love to vote for the anti-Obama this November, and were eagerly hoping to do so. But we have now been confronted with a choice that pits our country’s needs against our God’s commands. This is not easy and we take no pleasure in the hardships of our countrymen. But would you have us deny our God just to save our skin? And if you would, may I suggest you might not understand our religion, or be very tolerant of it. It is called Biblical Christianity, and we have stood against entire empires to defend our principal loyalty, which is to Christ our only King. We would be delighted to help in November, and we will do all that we can. But the GOPe has chosen ... poorly, and we cannot give our support to a man who by his religion seeks to destroy faith in the one and only true God.
