In the October 2011 general conference, Elder David A. Bednar reiterated the words of the Prophet Joseph Smith who said: "The greatest responsibility in this world that God has laid upon us is to seek after our dead."

SNIP

"We are the Lord's agents in the work of salvation and exaltation that will prevent 'the whole earth [from being] smitten with a curse' (Doctrine and Covenants sections 110 and 115) when He returns again," said Elder Bednar. "This is our duty and great blessing."

From the article?: In the October 2011 general conference, Elder David A. Bednar reiterated the words of the Prophet Joseph Smith who said: "The GREATEST responsibility in this world that God has laid upon us is to seek after our dead."

Yup. The "greatest" Mormon responsibility is to obsess with the dead.

Mormons are you obeying this? Are you doing three-year missions to the dead to outdo your two- year missions to the living?

If I was a gambling person, I could probably wage a million $ that not a single Mormon could name EVERY law mentioned by Lds general authorities on Lds.org. [What a crying shame, 'cause even Joseph Smith said: “We cannot keep all the commandments without first knowing them, and we cannot expect to know all, or more than we now know unless we comply with or keep those we have already received.”(Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 256.)

And Mormons are shooting for the highest degree by way of perfect obedience??????

As millions of Christians around the world approached that 7-week period between Nov. 19 and Dec. 25 to give to the living in need around the world...Lds Church News was putting out an article about all of the dead...the ones who need no comfort or clothing or food or shelter.

(I guess that new mall the Lds church is building in Salt Lake City can keep the homeless warm for a while...as long as they don't loiter)

From the article; "We are the Lord's agents in the work of salvation and exaltation that will prevent 'the whole earth [from being] smitten with a curse' (Doctrine and Covenants sections 110 and 115)...

Actually, this Lds General Authority understressed what other Mormon leaders have referenced themselves in this regard...not merely as "agents" -- but "saviors" plural!

And when Mormons use the term “saviors” to describe other Mormons, it’s not a “figurative” or “spiritual” usage:

“When living persons are baptized for the dead, they literally become saviors to others…” (Part of chapter entitled, “How to Become a Savior on Mount Zion: Duty Lesson 12” p. 223 1974-1975 When Thou Art Converted, Strengthen Thy Brethren Study Guide 1974)

And, unlike the Bible, which places a definitive “THE” before Jesus Christ as THE Savior (John 4:42; 1 John 4:14), Mormon “prophets” have long and consistently preached that the Mormon churches produces “saviors” – plural!

* Lds “prophet” John Taylor: " ...we are the ONLY people that know how to save our progenitors, how to save ourselves, and how to save our posterity in the celestial kingdom of God;...WE in fact are the saviours of the world..." (Lds "prophet" John Taylor, Journal of Discourses, vol.6, p.163)

* Taylor: "We know something about our progenitors, and God has taught us how to be saviors for them by being baptized for them in the flesh, that they may live according to God in the Spirit” (LDS "prophet" John Taylor, March 20,1870, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 14, 3/20/1870)

* Lds “prophet” Wilford Woodruff: “…YOU will be recognized as Saviors upon Mount Zion…” (Teachings of Presidents: Wilford Woodruff, p. 189, 2004)

* Woodruff: WE become saviors on Mount Zion as we build temples and receive saving ordinances on behalf of the dead.” (Teachings of Presidents: Wilford Woodruff, p. 187)

* Lds “prophet” Joseph Fielding Smith: “... mortals have to be saviors on Mount Zion, acting by proxy for the dead." (LDS "prophet" Joseph Fielding Smith, The Way to Perfection, p. 325)

* Lds “prophet” Joseph F. Smith: “Teach your children and let yourselves be taught the fact that it is necessary for you to become saviors upon Mount Zion…” (Joseph F. Smith, Teachings of Presidents: Joseph F. Smith, p. 412, 1998)

* Joseph F. Smith: “…WE have a certain work to do in order to liberate…they…are unprepared for eternal life: we have to open the door for them, by performing ordinances which they cannot perform for themselves, and which are essential to their release from the ‘prison-house,’… (Joseph F. Smith, Ibid, p. 410)

The Christian counterclaim is that Jesus Christ has already done that, minus any ritual mumbo-jumbo performed in a man-made temple. Jesus said His personal temple – one that would zero in on death – and the only real temple worth anything regarding salvation – was the temple of His body (John 2:19-21). That body was laid on the cross. He liberated us and opened the door; we are free to walk out of the “prison-house” of our sin nature, bondage to this world, bondage to Satan, bondage to a fear of death, etc!

Lds “prophet” Joseph F. Smith emphasized that not only do Lds need to perform EVERY law and every requirement of the (Mormon) gospel” for themselves, but for the dead as well:

“No man can enter into the Kingdom of God but by the door and through the means that Jesus Christ has offered to the children of men. … Not a soul that has ever lived and died from off the face of this earth shall escape a chance to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. If they receive it and obey it, the ordinances of the gospel will be performed for and in their behalf, by their kindred, or their posterity in some generation of time after them, so that EVERY law and EVERY REQUIREMENT of the gospel of Jesus Christ shall be carried out, and the promises and requirements fulfilled for the salvation of the living and also for the salvation of the dead.” (Teachings of Presidents: Joseph F. Smith, p. 307, 1998; original source “Latter-day Saints Follow Teachings of the Savior,” Scrap Book of Mormon Literature, 2 vols. 2:561-562).

(You didn't know that receiving the Gospel was a "performance" and filled with "requirements" galore -- until you heard the version of Mormonism's "gospel" -- did ya?)

Hmmmmmmm.

I think I’ll go ask some Mormons to educate me about Christian beliefs, Medthodist perhaps, or Lutheran.

Thank God the Mormons look after their dead. Thanks to them I got a huge, free start on my ancestral tree by using their database.

(Good...and if you're shopping for a used car this Christmas, be sure that if you want to learn about particular brands of used cars, just talk to a used-car dealership that tends to specialize more in those brands...I'm sure they'll give you the straight scoop on all things about those models under that brand name)

This reminds me of the Chinese ancestor worship.
Of course, now the Chinese are required to worship their fearless leaders of the People's Republic.
It's ALL blasphemy.

Don't count on much of that info to be correct. Many mistakes, and they don't care. You see, they just want names, any name, any initial, any child (even if not in that family), don't matter.

It is their duty to find as many names as possible, no matter how relavant to actual history of a family.

I found the mistakes in my family while using their search, told them, THEY DON'T CARE to make any corrections. It's a numbers game to them.

Well, maybe. I can tell you when I looked up my Mom and Dad, because my lds family put them in the data base, their birthdays and birthplaces were wrong. Not terribly wrong but wrong none the less.

Poor unfortunate Mormons...

How much more easy it is to be a Christian instead...

We have the Ten Commandments...

The first four to do with our worship and relationship with God...

The last six to do with our relationships with other people..

and the LORD Jesus Christ said there were TWO main commandments coming from those Ten...

From the Christian Bible...

One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”

The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’

The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:28-31

Its full of errors so find some good reliable sources for that info...

If your Christian ancestors are in the IGI its because they were dead dunked into Mormonism after they died...

not because the Mormons want you to know who your ancestors were...

Also any errors you find will usually not be corrected by the Mormons ...

They refuse to..on principle...theyre NEVER wrong...

Theyre right and your official apostate Gentile government birth marriage death record is wrong..

LOL

BTW you’ll be relieved to know that the LORD Jesus Christ has been dead dunked numerous times in order to “save” Him...

and if they dead dunked a relative of yours who is still alive ...too bad...

:)

I gave up trying for one of my relatives...

I have a copy of the the certificate and they have NOTHING...I asked them what they had for a source...

They still refused to change anything...

So every now and again I tell them that I’m spreading the word that they have incorrect records...

They dont like to be told that they are neither historians nor genealogists..

Too bad..

Speaking of obsessions. It is interesting how the residents of Colofornia have so much time to obsess on anothers faith. That obsession reflects a negativity that seems a bit, ummm, oh never mind.

I think I’ll go ask some Mormons to educate me about Christian beliefs, Medthodist perhaps, or Lutheran.

No need to ASK, as what they believe about them is known:

Questions put to Joseph Smith: "'Do you believe the Bible?' [Smith:]'If we do, we are the only people under heaven that does, for there are none of the religious sects of the day that do'. When asked 'Will everybody be damned, but Mormons'? [Smith replied] 'Yes, and a great portion of them, unless they repent, and work righteousness." (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 119).
Joseph Smith: "for the teachers of religion of the different sects understood the same passages of scripture so differently as to destroy all confidence in settling the question by an appeal to the Bible" (from Pearl of Great Price 1:12). "What is it that inspires professors of Christianity generally with a hope of salvation? It is that smooth, sophisticated influence of the devil, by which he deceives the whole world" (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p.270).

Brigham Young stated this repeatedly: "When the light came to me I saw that all the so-called Christian world was grovelling in darkness" (Journal of Discourses 5:73); "The Christian world, so-called, are heathens as to the knowledge of the salvation of God" (Journal of Discourses 8:171); "With a regard to true theology, a more ignorant people never lived than the present so-called Christian world" (Journal of Discourses 8:199); "And who is there that acknowledges [God's] hand? ...You may wander east, west, north, and south, and you cannot find it in any church or government on the earth, except the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" (Journal of Discourses , vol. 6, p.24); "Should you ask why we differ from other Christians, as they are called, it is simply because they are not Christians as the New Testament defines Christianity" (Journal of Discourses 10:230).

Orson Pratt proclaimed: "Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the 'whore of Babylon' whom the Lord denounces by the mouth of John the Revelator as having corrupted all the earth by their fornications and wickedness. Any person who shall be so corrupt as to receive a holy ordinance of the Gospel from the ministers of any of these apostate churches will be sent down to hell with them, unless they repent" (The Seer, p. 255).

Orson Pratt also said: "This great apostasy commenced about the close of the first century of the Christian era, and it has been waxing worse and worse from then until now" (Journal of Discourses
, vol.18, p.44) and: "But as there has been no Christian Church on the earth for a great many centuries past, until the present century, the people have lost sight of the pattern that God has given according to which the Christian Church should be established, and they have denominated a great variety of people Christian Churches, because they profess to be ...But there has been a long apostasy, during which the nations have been cursed with apostate churches in great abundance" (Journal of Discourses , 18:172).

President John Taylor stated: "Christianity...is a perfect pack of nonsense...the devil could not invent a better engine to spread his work than the Christianity of the nineteenth century." (Journal of Discourses , vol. 6, p.167); "Where shall we look for the true order or authority of God? It cannot be found in any nation of Christendom." (Journal of Discourses , 10:127).

James Talmage said: "A self-suggesting interpretation of history indicates that there has been a great departure from the way of salvation as laid down by the Savior, a universal apostasy from the Church of Christ". (A Study of the Articles of Faith, p.182).

President Joseph Fielding Smith said: "Doctrines were corrupted, authority lost, and a false order of religion took the place of the gospel of Jesus Christ, just as it had been the case in former dispensations, and the people were left in spiritual darkness." (Doctrines of Salvation, p.266). "For hundreds of years the world was wrapped in a veil of spiritual darkness, until there was not one fundamental truth belonging to the place of salvation ...Joseph Smith declared that in the year 1820 the Lord revealed to him that all the 'Christian' churches were in error, teaching for commandments the doctrines of men" (Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 3, p.282).

More recent statements by apostle Bruce McConkie are also very clear: "Apostasy was universal...And this darkness still prevails except among those who have come to a knowledge of the restored gospel" (Doctrines of Salvation, vol 3, p.265); "Thus the signs of the times include the prevailing apostate darkness in the sects of Christendom and in the religious world in general" (The Millennial Messiah, p.403); "a perverted Christianity holds sway among the so-called Christians of apostate Christendom" (Mormon Doctrine, p.132); "virtually all the millions of apostate Christendom have abased themselves before the mythical throne of a mythical Christ whom they vainly suppose to be a spirit essence who is incorporeal uncreated, immaterial and three-in-one with the Father and Holy Spirit" (Mormon Doctrine, p.269); "Gnosticism is one of the great pagan philosophies which antedated Christ and the Christian Era and which was later commingled with pure Christianity to form the apostate religion that has prevailed in the world since the early days of that era." (Mormon Doctrine, p.316).

President George Q. Cannon said: "After the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was organized, there were only two churches upon the earth. They were known respectively as the Church of the Lamb of God and Babylon. The various organizations which are called churches throughout Christendom, though differing in their creeds and organizations, have one common origin. They all belong to Babylon" (Gospel Truth, p.324).

President Wilford Woodruff stated: "the Gospel of modern Christendom shuts up the Lord, and stops all communication with Him. I want nothing to do with such a Gospel, I would rather prefer the Gospel of the dark ages, so called" (Journal of Discourses , vol. 2, p.196).

What you MAY need to 'ask', is if these old statements STILL apply.
