Bob Jones III latest Christian leader to doubt Obama's Christianity
CNN Belief ^ | 11/15/2011 | Dan Golgoff

Bob Jones III, chancellor of the fundamentalist South Carolina university that bears his family’s name, has become the latest conservative Christian leader to publicly cast doubt on President Barack Obama’s stated Christian commitment.

"I've no reason to think he's a Christian,” Jones told National Journal in an interview published Saturday. “Anyone can say he's a Christian.

“Some people will say whatever they think the politically helpful thing would be,” Jones said. “I say, 'Where is the evidence that he is a Christian?' "

Jones is an influential conservative leader in South Carolina, home to one of the nation’s key Republican primaries next year. Bob Jones University, where Jones served as president from 1971 to 2005, is a popular stop for GOP candidates courting Christian votes.

This year, evangelical leader Franklin Graham questioned Obama’s Christian commitment, telling ABC News that for Obama, “going to church means he’s a Christian,” while for Graham, “the definition of a Christian is whether we have given our life to Christ.”

Last year, Graham insisted that Obama was born a Muslim, though the president hasn’t said that.

“I think the president's problem is that he was born a Muslim; his father was a Muslim,” Graham told CNN’s John King in August 2010. “The seed of Islam is passed through the father like the seed of Judaism is passed through the mother.

"Now, it's obvious that the president has renounced the prophet Mohammed, and he has renounced Islam, and he has accepted Jesus Christ,” Graham, son of famed evangelist Billy Graham, continued. “That is what he says he has done. I cannot say that he hasn't. So I just have to believe that the president is what he has said."

There's no doubt in my mind. Obama is:

1). A Muslim.
2). A Marxist.
3). A foreigner.
4). Evil incarnate.

The traitor Obama is not my president.

RE: No kiddin? What gave it away? His NAME?

Actually no, it is his ACTIONS.

I know of many Christians with Arabic names.

I also know of a very devout Punjabi Sikh who became a great Christian Evangelist and Missionary to the Himalayas — Sadhu Sundar Singh.

It is a man’s ACTIONS that give the impression, not his name.

Only God can know, but where is the fruit? A similar situation involves the Reverends Jackson and Sharpton. What were the texts of their sermons last Sunday? I would like to know.

Lots of former Muslims are Christians. Obama is not one of them.

Jackson and Sharpton don’t do Sunday sermons - they do Marxist agitating.

for Obama, “going to church means he’s a Christian,”

FTR, I'm Jewish. But I do go to church occasionally. So does Mayor Koch.

RE: FTR, I’m Jewish. But I do go to church occasionally. So does Mayor Koch.

It’s possible to be Jewish AND Christian ( after all, the first Christians were ALL Jews ). Just saying...

RE: Lots of former Muslims are Christians

I know of one who is in prison in Iran right now ( facing execution ). His name is Yousef Nadarkhani.

This doesn’t pass the “So What” test. According to Bob Jones III the Pope isn’t Christian and according to me Bob Jones III isn’t Christian.

In a televised interview Obama said that he is “of the Christian tradition”. VERY, VERY different from saying that he was a Christian. He went on to say that “there are many paths to the same destination” thereby denying that Jesus is the only way as Jesus Himself proclaimed.
QED not a Christian

Obama’s an agnostic at best, and an atheist at worst.

If Jackson and Sharpton are Marxist agitators and don’t actually serve in a Christian church, why does the mainstream press refer to them as reverends? This is deceptive to say the least.

Good question. My own opinion is that Jackson and Sharpton being referred to by the mainstream press as reverends is akin to the mainstream press referring to themselves as journalists.

You seem to be genuinely interested, from a Christian perspective, about Obama’s ‘Christian life’. Only the Lord knows where Obama’s heart truly resides concerning Christianity and whether or not he is a Christian. From THAT standpoint, it’s none of our business. Obama, however - to enhance his campaign to be elected president - made public pronouncements as to which religious persuasion he wanted us to believe he followed.

You used the terms ‘testimony’ and ‘confession of faith’ which indicates to me that you are probably a Christian. If this is the case, you will have a clearer understanding of Obama’s ‘spirituality’ upon learning that he had also made public pronouncements of his belief that his soul cannot be saved except as part of ‘collective’ salvation, i.e., ‘all-or-none’. He also has said he doesn’t know if there’s a life after death. He has publically described Islam as having been ‘revealed’ - terminology no Christian would use. Obama has demanded a cross be covered, because he wouldn’t tolerate its presence near the podium where he was to speak. His ‘Christian’ experience and development took place in Jeremiah Wright’s church - where Obama and all others were indoctrinated with Wright’s James Cone- based teachings that God truly loves only the black race; that God hates ‘whitey’; that true religion/spirituality cannot exist or be genuine other than through the black African perspective. Obama was a Wright [former Muslim] acolyte for 20 years, which indicates he was in agreement with Wright’s agenda - in spite of Obama’s protestations that he never heard a word Wright preached.

An illuminating place to start in researching Obama’s possible, or likely, spiritual beliefs is his June 2009 Cairo speech to the Muslim world. If you have a knowledge of Christian doctrine, and knowledge of Islam - and parse every sentence of that speech from the perspective of Christianity and of Judeao-Christian biblical history - with eyes open concerning the teachings of Islam - you will probably have an uncluttered understanding of where Obama’s spiritual heart lies.
