San Francisco Presbyterians to allow gay clergy

All across the United States, Presbyterians have been voting in each of the 173 regional presbyteries to determine whether or not the Presbyterian Church (USA) will drop the ban on gay clergy. The yes vote in San Francisco on Tuesday, April 12, puts the denomination seven votes away from the simple majority required to enact this historic change...

We believe God's Spirit is at work as more people are understanding that faith and character are more important considerations for ministry than one's marital status or sexual orientation," said Michael Adee, executive director of More Light Presbyterians.

The 198-143 vote on Tuesday, moves the Presbyterian Church one step closer to joining the millions of people in three other major Protestant denominations that accept ministers based on their skills and qualifications rather than who they marry or chose as a life partner.

From the article
"This amazing support for amendment10-A reveals that Presbyterians want to return to the historic Presbyterian way of selecting officers to serve in the Church. Local governing bodies can more effectively discern the gifts and qualifications of ministers, elders and deacons. Our Church and world will benefit from the service of LGBT persons as we learned when we removed the barriers to women serving in the Church," said the Rev. Dr. Janet Edwards, co-moderator of More Light Presbyterians.
With this and the uptick in OrthodoPresbyterianC's leftist anti-Christian attacks, this group has come out in the open with it's desire to destroy Christianity

But the devil doesn't win in the end.

Sexual deviants make great "clergy".

Frankly, I’m surprised the PCUSA hasn’t taken this position nationwide about a decade ago. Like the rest of the mainlines, they have left their first love.

Try OPC or UPC to stay scriptural.

This is so cool. Right and wrong are decided by majority vote. Who needs God when you have democracy.

This Protestant denomination also has been actively pursuing divestment from Israel, IIRC.

Yes, that is correct.

The OPC is a rabidly anti-Semitic group that has lately been trying to promote it's anti-Israeli message on FR with posts like:

  1. Easter greetings from Israel - a hoax video aiming to smear Jews and that is as disgusting as the Protocols of the Elders
  2. Jerusalem, the have-not whore
  3. Israel -- where there is a comparison of Biblical Israel to Modern Israel -- and you can guess it's not a pleasant one
  4. All Israel will be Saved, but not all Israel
  5. Jerusalem, Mother of all Harlots
  6. The restoration and conversion of Israel -- this soon descends into a fre for all anti-semitic fest

What is disgusting is that this group (the OPC/PCA) pretends to be Christian while spouting it's hatred for Jews and Christians alike.

There is a consistent attack by the pinkos on all Christian institutions.

Exactly -- that's what's happening in Gamecock's group. Gamecock -- how's the deaconess ordinations coming along?

True. The OPC and PCUSA continue with their attacks on Christianity. And they are heading to their destruction and soon.

True and despite the crowing that one may hear or read, the actual numbers show a large number leaving the Presbyterians as a whole

2009 membership 2010 membership Lost Gained
PCUSA 2,934,952 2,844,952 90,000
PCA 335,000 340,000 5,500
OPC 21,123 21,530 407
Disappearing Presbyerians 84,100

The numbers are dropping by 84,100 a year. As all three of these groups turn more and more leftist/communist, more will leave.

I thought God already voted on this at Sodom.

Of Course I am not an expert on such things as this as this person some others might be.

Does this person ever read the Bible? Maybe he just doesn’t believe what he reads.

Probably -- this is the same group (PCUSA/OPC) that goes about saying that Jews are no longer the chosen people, that Pentecostals and Methodists are damnable heretics who preach the gospel of satan etc. etc.

Why does this bother you? The psychiatrists and psychologists decide what is and what isn’t a mental disorder by majority vote. After all, that how the sodomites got their mental problem removed from the list of mental illnesses. If “science” can be done by majority vote, certainly the PCUSA can ignore the Bible by majority vote ;-)

Yep. I’m well aware that back in the 70’s the psychiatrists and psychologist changed science based on threats of demonstrations and disruptions at their gatherings. Totally gutless. But then that is the nature of academics.

Just how does gay clergy explain Leviticus anyway?

The Presbyterians may allow it, but God doesn’t, and expects them to know better.

They don't. The PCUSA, OPC, PCA don't read from the Old Testament at all, far less the Gospels. They may excerpts from Pauline Epistles, but that is interspersed with their leftist excerpts from the book of their founders.
