Ha, ‘tacky crap’ indeed. Great YouTube. Reminds me of when we were in RCIA and I had this wonderful insight that the reason the Catholic churches were so beautiful and the Protestant churches we were coming from were so plain was that the Catholics believed that Christ was in the Eucharist. The churches were built to house HIM, and He was present. It just knocked me out to realize this. I mentioned it in class, and our lay leader set me straight — ‘We are ALL the Body of Christ.’
I am a musician; the beautiful churches, the history of the Church — these are part and parcel of music history and are studied extensively. But I had never grasped that so clearly. And the leader evidently still has not.
