Is Glenn Beck Saved? (A Short Review of Mormonism)
The Ignorant Fishermen Blog ^ | 8/5/10 | Kelly Sensenig

Glenn Beck is one of the most popular political commentators in the United States. Between his TV show, and nationally syndicated talk-radio show, Beck reaches millions of Americans every day with his commentary about politics. Glenn Beck is also a convert to the Mormon faith, joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1999 along with his wife and children. However, his recent comments regarding God, salvation, and the Gospel on his TV show have caused some evangelical Christians to contemplate the salvation of Glenn Beck, even as a member of the Mormon Church.

We know that it’s the desire of political conservatives, constitutionalists, and Christians to take back America and stop the socialistic trends in this country. We are grateful for Glenn Beck and others like him who are standing behind the constitution and foundational basis of this country. Every evangelical Christian should support them in these goals. However, in sharing this common goal and desire we must be careful to not cross the line and become undiscerning in our theology and assessment of those who may only be masking as Evangelical Christians or “transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ” (2 Cor. 11:13-15).

Glenn has stated some great things lately about biblical salvation which contradicts Mormon theology. He seeking... that is for sure.

The only person I know for sure that is saved is me.

That aside, the Bible says in Acts 16:31, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved,” and in Romans 10:13, “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Jesus made it easy enough for a child to understand, and for good reason.

HOWEVER, if you believe that Jesus is Satan’s brother, then you don’t believe on the Biblical Lord Jesus.

In that case, you’d better read the book of John until you understand exactly who and what Jesus is.

Is Glenn Beck Saved?

I am a Presbyterian, we believe only the almighty can make that determination. So why even talk about it?

The Mormon church is positive proof that most people do not give a rat’s *** about theology.

Well done TIF. I have real questions from someone who has fallen for the Mormon cult.

How do I get my book on your website? It needs to get out to the tea parties.

Glenn has a different God, a different Jesus (lucifer’s brother).. he has a grace that is earned by obedience to the “law” and being an observant mormon ...ohh yea and he does not believe men go to hell and non mormons can not be a god like he will be

He is looking to HIS jesus to save him and he is looking to make Mormonism looks like another evangelical christian religion..
His jesus can not save him ...he is looking to fulfill a prophecy

Glenn is lost unless he comes to Christ

I agree.

To me, it seems somewhat arrogant for any Christian to “contemplate the salvation” of others.

I was raised in the Methodist Church. As far as I know there is no tenet of that Church which enjoins, or even advocates, its members to publically “contemplate the salvation” of another person.

"I am a Presbyterian, we believe only the almighty can make that determination. So why even talk about it?"

I am a Calvinist, as are Presbyterians historically, and yes, we should talk about it. Yes, it is God who makes the sovereign decisions, but He also commands us to go and tell.

Charles Spurgeon, the great British preacher of the 1800s, passionately called men to be saved. He was a staunch Calvinist.

Jonathan Edwards, the "prince of theologians", urged men to be saved. He was a Calvinist.

Read about George Whitefield. Whitefield was a consummate evangelist who traveled thousands of miles on horseback preaching the Gospel. He was a Calvinist.

Quote from wikipedia: Like his contemporary and acquaintance, Jonathan Edwards, Whitefield preached with a staunchly Calvinist theology that was in line with the "moderate Calvinism" of the Thirty-nine Articles. While explicitly affirming God's sole agency in salvation, Whitefield would freely offer the Gospel, saying near the end of most of his published sermons something like: "Come poor, lost, undone sinner, come just as you are to Christ."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Whitefield

So yes, we are supposed to care, and to example, and to tell, and to urge, and to preach, and to pray, and to weep.

2 Corinthians 11: 11Why? Because I do not love you? God knows I do! 12And I will keep on doing what I am doing in order to cut the ground from under those who want an opportunity to be considered equal with us in the things they boast about. 13For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ. 14And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.

So you are calling Glenn Satan?

This is ridiculous. You pious (insert curse word). Only God knows for sure. Fighting among denominations, great. Everything I have heard Glenn say would lead me to believe he is a saved Christian. Again, it's between him & God.

I am a Methodist also. We are called to spread the gospel so that others might profess faith in Jesus Christ and receive salvation. If we take an action to meet this calling, it means we have “publically contemplated the salvation” of another person.

There’s something seriously wrong with FReepers who want to attack the one man who is doing yeoman’s work in exposing the truth about politics and the ruling class today.

Why so quick to judge? Don’t you Calvinists believe grace is irresistable? It seems to me that Beck is working towards the truth in all facets.

Maybe he will end up understanding the “truth” as you do, in the fullness of time.

I dunno if Glenn is saved or not, only he and the Lord know.

I’d like to think that he is. Being a mormon though gives me doubt.

That being said, I’d like to see him with his resources do some specials on world events with a biblical perspective.
