Im holding in my hand my black hardcover copy of Mormon Doctrine by Bruce R. McConkie, one of Mormonisms most influential books, an all-time Mormon bestseller, which went out of print this week.
A book written, Im sure, with the best of intentions by a revered Mormon leader. And, still, a book that continued to circulate even after other high-ranking Mormon leaders recommended more than one thousand corrections to its content.
A book that called Roman Catholicism the Church of the Devil. And a book that elevated to doctrinal status non-doctrinal folklore about the origins of the LDS Churchs ban on conveying priesthood authority to members of African descent, claiming that blacks were the descendents of the accursed Cain.
A book that due to its authoritative presentation and doctrinal fundamentalism gave many Mormons reasons for grief.
Mormon Doctrine (1958 2010), RIP.
I wonder in Mormon crickets are edible? With honey, like locusts?
You'd have to ask a sea gull.
Hey, getting people to stop trusting in their own man-made religion and facing the Christ who died for our personal sins so that can be reconciled in a living relationship with God is always good.
What do you, PD, and other Mormons do with KJV verses like these?
36He that believeth on the Son HATH [has] everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (John 3:36)
If you don't have everlasting/eternal life before you die, you don't have it, Jesus says. The wrath of God remains on you.
24Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath [has] everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. (John 5:24)
Jesus says we pass from death to life already! It's already happened for the "hath" (has) everlasting life people.
You may say, "Wait a minute. My Mormon leaders have told us 'eternal life' = eternal progression and celestial heaven and becoming heirs. But you're telling me eternal life is now? How can that be?"
That's because eternal life is a relationship with the true God (not just any packaged version of God); and with the true Christ (not just any packaged version of Christ):
Don't take my word for it; take Jesus who Himself defined "eternal life" for us:
And this is life eternal, that they might KNOW thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. (John 17:3)
To "know" in Biblical terms is a living relationship, which doesn't suddenly begin when we die. But can happen now. If you've been told, Mormon or non-Mormon, religious or non-religious, that eternal life doesn't occur until you die, you've only been told a partial story at best...and for those of you who've been told "eternal life" = only godhood, you've been outright lied to.
You've got to face reality. I've heard and seen free KJV Bible commercials from the Mormon church going back over 20 years. Are you going to believe what Jesus has said in these verses printed, published, and offered by the Mormon church and take them at face value?
Or are you forever going to have truth filtered for you through the Mormon church? God has promised through Isaiah that His Word would not return void & empty. He has promised through Hebrews that His Word was living & active, slicing through us even to our marrow.
I claim that promise. I pray and claim His word penetrates to your very core.
You have eternal life. Now.
You can relate to the true God and Jesus. Now.
You can pass from His wrath. Now.
You can pass from death to live. Now.
You Mormons are of such great worth, it's no "waste" of time to converse with you. To speak the truth to you. If I had a choice between someone who would "love" me by skipping over truth, or someone who would love me with the truth, even if hard truth, even if tough love truth, I'd take the latter.
Seagullz iz mormon ???
Stating truth is only antagonistic to the one supporting the falsehood...
All you had to do was ask me what church she belongs to. She belongs to one of the churches that Joseph Smith said was apostate.
Perfect! I too belong to one of the churches that Joseph Smith said was apostate.
Inmans, Roll Call!
Again, obsession with the truth is something any man can benefit from. Exposing damning falsehoods is a fine use of energy for good.
You’d have to ask a sea gull.

Next time I run into a sea gull, I will ask him.
Which 'church' other than lsd inc. is NOT apostate?
Jesus was antagonistic
Joey Smith not so much...
Joey Smith was talking to his homies...
Joey Smith was the Rev Wright of his day...
Perfect! I too belong to one of the churches that Joseph Smith said was apostate.
Inmans, Roll Call!

Well, since the church I attend wasn’t formed in Smith’s time, i can’t say that.
Also, my church doesn’t have membership.
But, since I AM a member of the body of Christ, the UNIVERSAL Church and not Mormon, then I too belong to one of the ‘apostate’ (according to smith) churches.
For the record, I attend several different Christian denominations now (due to the move) but my last ‘church’ was Calvary Chapel.
Perfect! I too belong to one of the churches that Joseph Smith said was apostate.
Inmans, Roll Call!

Sound off...
Here, present, me too...

Can you disprove anything said by the so called “antis”?
Where is this “much information”?
Is it in the BoM?
No the so called Anti’s are using it everyday to show how devoid of truth and confused in doctrine the LDS is.
Is it in the teaching of the “prophets”?
Can't be, the “best” of them have been thrown under the bus because their proclamation of what god has said are no longer fashionable to the PR department and their efforts to appear more “Christian” in their advertising and recruitment efforts...
Where oh where is the “much information” PD?
You speak with authority, act with it as well...
The newb didn’t get zotted, though......
Interesting, you walk in the way of the Lord TN...
There you go again.
Yeah, but still a pretty good smack down.
Please don't, they mess up the front grill.
Yeah. Kinda nice....
That fact seems to escape quite a few people.
