The prayer life of the Roman Catholic is quite different from the Bible believing Christian. The predominant prayer in the life of almost any catholic is the "Hail Mary." It goes like this: "HAIL MARY FULL OF GRACE, THE LORD IS WITH THEE. BLESSED ART THOU AMONG WOMEN AND BLESSED IS THE FRUIT OF THY WOMB, JESUS. HOLY MARY, MOTHER OF GOD, PRAY FOR US SINNERS, NOW AND AT THE HOUR OF OUR DEATH. AMEN." The statements made in this prayer are quite significant. Allow us to look at them one at a time and compare them with the word of God to see if there is a basis for such a prayer at all.

Caps.
It is Lent season and our tradition for ever has been turn off the tv.
Last few years EWTN has been on our cable line up.
Which is a real gift.
So now it is EWTN on tv only for the season.
They had a book review that interested me.
Why Catholics eat Fish on Fridays.
Many interesting history filled why.
Did not know Boston was short for a Catholic historical name.
This time of night usually makes me feel like screaming, too.
LOL
I am humbled to tears every time I think of Mary at the foot of the cross.
As a Mom who has sufferred with her child through this world, and the child never loses his cheerful spirit despite the suffering.
31 years now.
If it was not for the faith and all the history of the Catholic faith I would have not been able to not punch some lights out of a few deceptive evil souls who have tried to tresspass into our lives.

Well now I can say I know what the rosary beads are about. Just helps people remember where they left off..like a book marker. And here I was under the impression these beads had some mystical power, or were part of catholics worship service so without them you’d have difficulty praying. So I can assume then any beads could be used if they matched the number of prayers.
I didn’t know about the Hail Mary prayer to her...as far as the whole thing. This article explains alot....so catholics really are praying to her...hummm this doesn’t sound right since Jesus said there is only one intersessor between God and man and that’s Christ Himself.
Well, these are the kinds of things I’ve been trying to get across to some of these people. If these practices don’t deny that Christ is the only way then what does? Do we go on calling these people Christians in the name of unity? Does light have fellowship with darkness? If I was standing before God right this second I’d have to acknowledge they are wrong. So why pretend like it’s no big deal just so I can make everyone happy down here? LOL
Just as FReepers pray to each other. FReepers set up prayer threads and ask each other - pray to each other - to pray to God.
To pray means to petition, to ask. It does not mean to worship.
See for instance the once often-used expression 'I prithee' or 'I pray thee' which comes from the Elizabethan period, the source period of most of what we call modern English.
I pray thee FReepers, learn the difference between prayer and worship.
The next time your mother tells you she’s praying for you, you’ll tell her she’s not a Christian.
I don’t know what your motivation in posting all this anti-Catholic garbage is, but if you have the idea that you’re going to convert Catholics to some other version of Christianity, there’s a problem.
See, the stuff you’re posting is grotesquely ignorant. No well-informed Catholic is going to be impressed by garbage that’s chock-full of falsehoods and blunders.
My mother will be praying to God. I can ask her to do so because she is alive in this world and she can comply if she chooses. People who go from this world to the next (including Mary) do not suddenly become omnipotent because they are in the presence of the Lord. They are still just created beings. It is useless to pray to people or angels. Only God can hear everyone’s prayers.
I disagree, there are many Catholics who have the good sense to listen.
There is a perfect example of the kind of blunder that makes Catholics weep for you, rather than have their faith shaken:
No well-informed Catholic believes that Mary is omnipotent, or that she is not a created being. The Catholic Church has never taught that, or anything else so stupid.
As long as you continue to spout ill-informed bilge that is a crude caricature of what the Catholic Church teaches, you are wasting your time.
I understand what you mean. By whatever means you think Mary is able to assist you through prayer it just simply isn’t the case. You do not receive any help, either directly or indirectly, from Mary. Christ is the one and only path to the Father.
John 14:6
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
According to the bible, it is an abomination to attempt ANY communication with those that have passed before us. Even if that communication is asking them to pray for us.
The bible also teaches us that our only heavenly intercessor is Christ- no other.
Some people think that praying to anyone other than Christ/God is like asking a friend that is living to pray for you. The difference is that those living can communicate back with us, those that have died before us cannot communicate with us. Attempting communication with anyone but Christ opens the door for deception from evil sprits that can imitate those that are no longer with us. Remember, the devil himself appears as an angel of light.
If we need a friend to intercede on our behalf, we are instructed to ask Christ alone. Besides, what greater friend is there than Christ Himself? If someone doesn’t feel comfortable enough to talk to their Savior, friend and mediator; can their relationship with Him really be that strong? After all- it isn’t even about us, it is about Him and His glory.
