"This shows how to witness honestly and why the "sneak the Gospel in" type of "evangelism" actually hinders ministry and is not doing unto others as you would have them do unto you." ~ Lane Chaplin
Christians who do this teach others that Christians are sneaky. I have posted this previously but in relation to government K-12 schooling.
Government K-12 teachers who try to “sneak” in a little gospel into their classes teach the children that Christians are sneaky.
Teachers who agree to support and uphold the atheism that is fundamental to **all** government schools teach children that Christians will sell their principles for a paycheck and a pension.
So?...Will the work of real missionaries be harder or easier after children have been taught these lessons?
wintertime, did you watch the video by any chance? Please watch it and let me know your thoughts. If you want to skip the first half, just start at 5 minutes and 30 seconds in.
What is an example of “sneaking” the Gospel in? I’m not conceptualizing it.
did you watch the video? it’s not that long...
Yes, I watched the video.
The speaker in the video is correct. It is best to be straight forward. Let that light shine!
I still hold to the belief that if Christians try to “sneak in” a little Christianity, what they are teaching is the lesson that Christians are sneaky. This is NOT a good thing to do.
The speaker in this video is correct.
As I pointed out in my previous post I have **often** pointed this out in relationship to Christian teachers in government schools. I simply can not stand it when some poster states, “Well..I try to “sneak in” some Christianity into my lessons.”
Yes, I watched the video and he never explains what he means by “sneaking” the Gospel in. What’s an example? I respect Pastor Washer very much and have listened to his sermons for years but this is the first I’ve heard of this “sneaking” thing.
I think what he means by that is going up to someone blatantly looking as if you’re ready to sell something.
One more thing...The speaker gave some good suggestions for getting started on discussing the gospel with others.
I like the Ray Comfort method of evangelizing and witnessing and I will often first establish an rapport with a person then ask, “What do you think happens when you die” and use that as a springbord to discuss the Gospel. I’m very forward about what I’m going to discuss and not sneaky about anything. But, I wonder if he’s criticizing this approach. I works for me and I’m quite comfortable (no pun intended) with it.
I agree.
define “witness” — yes your actions should testify to your faith, but how would you “witness” to say—a charitable, devout, Buddhist monk who does not believe that Christ is the only way to salvation?
But others see things differently, that's fine with me...to each his own....I won't argue with anyone about it...
I agree, I love Ray’s method as well as Todd’s..
Too many people think they should “witness “ to how their lives had changed.
The truth is the gospel is not about you or me, or our lives..it is about Christ.
Paul said he taught nothing but Christ crucified..
Christ is the center of the gospel , we are not
