I ask that the community please remember me in your prayers over the next few days. I totally unexpectedly lost my job this morning. It was totally unforeseen, so I am in quite a state of shock and anxiety. I had thanked God many times during the day over the past two years for this job, I believed it was his gift to me for the many challenges I've had in life. I am alone, so I will appreciate your remembering me.
Prayers up for you Nodems2000, many more to follow I’m sure, sorry to hear the tough news, keep the faith ...
I will
I will
I’m so sorry. :( Prayers on your behalf.
Prayers up. Keep the faith.
God Bless and keep you until you find your next great opportunity- you are not alone and others care about you. Keep writing.
Possible consulation: it’s now free for you to attend school. I registered with the local technical school and found out unemployed people attend free. I just had to pay the sign-up fees.
I’m taking a 4 semester course for web design. It “would” have been $700/semester. Some hope. But the change still sucks.
My son lost his six-figure banking VP job on Jan. 15. Still not working. I truly hope you have better luck than he has had. It is devastating for his family.
Good luck, and keep the faith.
Prayers up.
I will pray for you :D
I’m sorry to hear this, Nodems. I remember the devastation one feels when walking away from the security of a job, into the insecurity of unemployment. I can only tell you that God always was with me during these times, even more so since I needed Him so much more then.
God has something else in mind for you. All things work together for good to those that love the Lord. He will see you through this trial.
Prayers on their way. Does elance.com have any listings that would help?
I am so sorry. Prayers for something even better to soon come your way! Please know that you are not alone in this struggle.
Prayers for you! (Thank you God for my job!)
We are praying for you.
Have faith FRiend. You can come through this the stronger for it.
Prayers lifted for you,
Tatt
Let not your heart be troubled. Go lay down if you can and get centered.
I’m praying for you
Post your resume, sans name, etc. for review by potential employers. There are a lot of decision makers that use this website.
Prayers for you, Nodems. Hopefully your company provided a severance package that will see you through for the short term, before the next opportunity is shown to you. And there WILL be a next opportunity although today it’s probably hard to believe.
Don’t give up or give in. The mere fact that you are posting on this site rather than a self-pitying lib-fest like DU shows you have the right attitude to face your challenges and succeed.
Hang in there! Be calm and take note of your situation and put together a plan of attack. Waste no time, apply for unemployment compensation as soon as you legally can and begin your search for employment immediately. Take anything that comes down the pike and try to improve on it as you go. Good luck and may God bless!!!
Also, take a peek here Are you looking for a job? (#4) [Look here first!]. You might find some good stuff.
Prayers up!
Excellent idea! And remember Nodems, you are NOT alone.

Prayers up. If you feel free to state it on FR, what type of work will you be pursuing? Maybe someone can help expedite our prayers.
Will pray for you. Went through this about 3 years ago as well.
FReepers from the class of ‘98 are the toughest. You’ll overcome this.
NONE of us is alone.
Prayers up. May other doors open for you soon.
God bless my friend
And you are NEVER alone
God has set the stage to open an important door for you. May HE bless you richly. Keep trusting HIM....
Take time to grieve the old job and pour out your heart to Him who hears the heart.
Use any job counseling services provided by your old company or available through your county.
Keep up your contacts and friends. 99% of jobs these days are through contacts or old job acquaintances. Online applications are a bust without a personal "In" at where you are trying to go. Keep up your contacts and show them value.
Ask your contacts, "Do you know anyone who could use a person like me?". Don't ask "Do you have a Job" - it makes one appear too desperate.
You can make a lot of contacts at Church and even get to know some employers like that. Pastors know a lot of employers sometimes.
My prayers go with you Nodems2000.

Consider it done. Keep the faith. One door closes, another opens Good luck!
Excellent idea! There is also a running thread on FR for people looking for a job. I wonder though if there is a way for FReepers who are looking for work to post a "mini resume" on Free Republic so potential FReeper employers could take a little look see. I am not sure how we would go about this, but this unemployed FReeper has excellent qualifications and experience, as I am sure lots of FReepers do. Any thoughts all??
Believe me, your not the only unemployed FReeper. I am taking online courses. SO after 4 years I might owe $15,000 in loans but I am betting on big time inflation. lol.
Been there, grown son there now, not easy. Hang in there and remember that finding a job is a job...treat it like one.
Good luck and God-speed
I’ll be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers! Keep the Faith!!!
And if the Door of Opportunity doesn´t open, maybe a Window of Opportunity is about to show itself.
Don’t be too proud or too ashamed to take a job that is below what you expect while you search for the right spot. Remember that much of the material stuff you think you need, you really don’t. See opportunity everywhere and don’t get depressed.
Have our fearless FR leaders create a new category!
So sorry to hear your news. Praying that you will be encouraged and will find a new job quickly!
prayers on the way, keep your chin up
There, but for the grace of God, go I. I will join in....
Be sure to apply for unemployment as soon as possible. Minimize all your expenses (contact your different utilities and see if there are alternate programs or options). Indeed.com is an excellent resource for finding all jobs in your area (it is a search engine for jobs).
You can withdraw from your retirement under a hardship excuse - make sure doing this doesn’t disqualify you from unemployment.
Hang in there. People are praying for you.
Where do you live & what do you do? Perhaps someone here has a job available.
