Knock down drag out open thread of all things precious to your doctrines and traditions.

Ok boys and girls here is a chance to defend what you hold dear and near to your religion. For years now I have seen threads that make statements that I do not agree with but can not respond to because they hide behind the guise of being a devotional, or a caucus, or ecumenical. So here is a chance for open debate for all things that have been closed to opposing views in the past.

There will be only two guide lines no personal attacks and no posting of numerous links in a response or making a point. If you can not argue a point don’t respond by posting links. Yes I know that it is not part of the posting religious guidelines, but this is my thread so I get to make up the rules.

I am limiting this to religion due to the fact I can not post it in both general discussion and religion.

If some one would like to start a thread like this in general discussion by starting off that they believe that Fords are better than Chevys or that Obama is better than a potato then do so. But please refrain yourselves not to bring up Fords or Obama.

One other thing if you do not post directly to me I doubt if I will know what you have said concerning a point so if you have posted to others and want my opinion then ping me. I do not have time to read all posts. With that said let the debates begin.

I never saw a purple cow.
I never hope to see one.
But this I tell you, anyhow,
I’d rather see than be one.

The bustard’s an exquisite fowl,
Without any reason to growl.
It escapes what would be,
Illegitimacy,
By the grace of a fortunate vowel.

I had a pastor once who when he was in his prime had a buddy that he use to debate different concepts of doctrine. He said that they would switch back and forth on a doctrine and found that they could both back up and argue doctrines from two different views by cherry picking scripture to back them up.

My husband can debate both sides of pretty much any subject, whether he believes in it or not. He has argued both sides of gun control for the fun of it. I remember in college writing a paper stating why gays should be allowed in the military. I was actually proud of that paper but never found out my score on that particular paper. (I didn’t do well in that English class, in general)

Actually I had some chores to run but I’m back so if you have something to say say it to my face instead of snide remarks. Do a search on my user name I am not a troll or a lurker. And I don’t hide behind caucuses as some do here. If it gets to hot you can get out of the kitchen.

Like I said about my pastor, him and his buddy could argue all day long and one day it dawned on both of them that they just like to debate and argue, after that all the fun was gone so to say. Then he got married and that is another story all together.

I will admit he had a heart after God though when it came to marriage. We spent around 6 months in Ephs 5

Eph 5:25-31 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. 30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. 31 "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." (NKJ)

I am sure your pastor is more a man who acts as a man should, but this reminded me -—

When my husband and I were at Target we talked about the way husbands will let themselves be treated by their wives. We got into the store when a woman said to her husband in a loud, rude voice, “Get into that line NOW” . Meanwhile, he’s pushing the cart with their baby in it. It was a sad thing to hear. I cringe when hear a woman speak to her husband like that.

Nor can I understand why my wife will NOT eat a burger with onions (yuck! - she says) but will happily eat more than a few of my onion rings.

For the same reason I never order fries with my burger, and just eat his.

It’s a sharing, caring, love thing...

*actually, it’s because I don’t want to appear like I’m overeating and just eat his instead. It’s a “fat” thing for women.

Onions are an acquired taste. After many decades, I finally adore raw onions on things.

*but then again, after many decades, I’ve probably lost my sense of taste and smell. It’s the sweet that’s the last to go.
