People fall down left and right.

Way to ruin a good jacket.

After seeing his breathless missus on here a day or two back, I thought I'd see if there was any other Hinn entertainment on offer. Sure enough.

Had Benny used this (I'm guessing he didn't, hence these shenanigans), would it count as "resisting the Holy Spirit"?

That's a new twist on an old scam ... 'slaying in the spirit'. Ernest Angely was particularly adept at it, but he had the help of a taser like device under his coat. I'm aware of that because an electrician who was in my Bible study class was called to a Birmingham hotel one night to fix the thing for him when it began shocking him instead of the 'slayees'.

More tasteful than Mrs. Hinn's advice.

I saw that. That's what made me go looking for Benny's antics.

What a circus.

A "Holy Ghost enema"?!?

There are several verses that speak of the Holy Ghost being like the wind (John 3:8 comes to mind at the moment), but they take on a whole new (and entirely inappropriate) meaning in this context :D

Some elements are more obviously prone to charlatanism than others--in terms of OVERT evidence.

However, I've found the spirit, attitude, presumptions etc. are generically in every denominational group. It's just that the form, the surface evidence is different.

I don't know how different God sees such things given that the heart attitudes are the same--pride, deception etc.

While Jesus and The Father mocked evil doers--rank evil doers of the Jezebel category . . . phraisees etc. . . .

Throughout Scripture, mocking folks who had any legitimacy as spiritual leaders AT ALL tended to be very hazardous.

This really is pathetic. Play Death Metal, and the guy comes off seeming unholy. Gee, really? I don't like these faith-healer types any more than the next Catholic, but come on, people!

>> Benny goes beserk, takes off his jacket and starts swattin' a few folks. <<

He's not swatting anyone. Look closely; his jacket doesn't contact the people (most of the time). They are being "slain in the Spirit" (supposedly), a five-century-old religious phenomenon, older than premillenialism, dispensationalism, and most other Protestant "isms." He waves at them, and they fall down. It's the frantic editing and the death metal that makes it seem violent.

Let's hope he remembered to take his keys out of his pocket there...

There's always Hinn entertainment to be had.

Yeah that Mrs Hinn out of control one is abominable. What a couple of charlatans.

"RUUUUUUUN with the crowd" (yeah after receiving that Holy Ghost enema?)

They're both disgusting.

Since when as Christians are we supposed to 'run with the crowd.'?? (not speaking of enemas here)

Most so called slayings in the spirit which I've seen simply involve the laying on of hands or the passing over of hands. Benny, with his flair for the dramatic, has taken this one step further and he uses a swinging jacket as a prop. The question of whether or not he makes contact seems like a non issuse to me.

Rather, it's the theatrical use of a coat which allows him to "slay" more victims simultaneously and achieve a greater effect.

That's show business.

You don't know the whole story.

Satan had sent down demons to steal his hair spray.

Pray for Brother Hinn (and the phone lines are open so send in a love donation NOW, or you go to hell)
