[Breaking News][ecusa] LONG ISLAND CATHEDRAL DEAN OUSTED BY ORRIS WALKER

LONG ISLAND CATHEDRAL DEAN OUSTED BY ORRIS WALKER

By David W. Virtue

On Friday night Long Island Bishop Orris Walker walked uninvited into the Vestry meeting of the Cathedral of the Incarnation at Garden City and informed the Vestry that he had fired Dean James J. Cardone saying that the Dean and the Cathedral were racist.

When he was asked if he was bringing somebody in, he said no and that he did not care if the Cathedral fell down.

Cardone's "sin" seems to have been the reinstatement of Rite I twice a month at the request of the congregation.

It should be noted that that popular Dean brought the Cathedral out of chapter 11 and that his son died three weeks ago while serving in the military.

A petition is already been drafted.

More news as it develops.

Events are happening much faster than predicted. What should be obvious is that there is now NO turning back...

Most liberals suffer from the following mental disorder: "“poor impulse control.”

This left wing lunatic Bishop should be the current Leftie Poster Boy for Poor Impulse Control for Leftist Bishops.

Leftist Media Bias – Even in Death
NewsMax.com ^ | 6/14/04 | Joan Swirsky

Psychologists say that people who have the irresistible urge to blurt out any thought and act out any behavior that strikes them at the moment – no matter the consequences – are suffering from “poor impulse control.”

They reassure parents of out-of-control children and adults who suffer the disorder that with enough “therapy” and behavioral conditioning, the malady can be cured or at least kept at bay.

This Leftist Bishop needs more time on the couch and kept away from others, he might harm.

Is this the Rite 1 in question?

It is quite beautiful. What could possibly be racist about it?

Rite I, of the 1979 Book of Common Prayer is a somewhat modernized (or mangled, depending on one's perspective) version of the traditional Anglican liturgy. Rite II is a Protestant (and also somewhat mangled) version of the Novus Ordo liturgy.

Holy cow!!! This is the Cathedral I grew up in.

I can't believe this - the Dean was loved by the congregation although I've never met him but I do read the Garden City News.

There's got to be more to the story because this doesn't explain why the Bishop fired him, really.

Truthy, I think the explanation is that having won their ill-conceived victory, they are attempting to crush any possible opposition and ...

They've gone mad.

When the 1928 Prayer Book was revised, they left the old rite much the same and called it Rite 1.

Rite 2 contains new language (but not the inclusive jazz, thank you very much) - it just modernizes the language, getting rid of the "thee" and "thou" words.

Many long time Episcopalians prefer Rite 1, as it is the service of Holy Communion that they grew up with.

Numerous Episcopal Churches, even here in No. VA, have early services of HC on Sunday Morning, and use Rite 1, sometimes said, no music with short homily.

Then they have a later service, with Rite 2 and a choir and sermon - a much longer service.

Somebody has probably already explained this - I received a phone call which delayed my answer. Posting anyway.

How do we know any of the racist comments have anything to do with liturgy ? Maybe this is a personnel issue.

saying that the Dean and the Cathedral were racist.

When he was asked if he was bringing somebody in, he said no and that he did not care if the Cathedral fell down.

And the Cathedral is racist, also? A racist Cathedral, who'd a'thunk it, and he doesn't care if it falls down.

Walker better hope he isn't pulled over on his way back to his office. He'd probably flunk every test they could give him.

How do you know there *were* any racist comments? He also said the Cathedral was "racist".

An informed source has enlightened me slightly on just what this wacko bishop is saying...it seems Orris Walker has repeatedly and publicly referred to Rite I as (and this is a quote) "the liturgy of oppression". In fact he's so emphatic about it that he forces any parish he visits to use Rite II - this includes parishes which have *never* used Rite II ... I bet *that* makes for an interesting 'bishop''s visit...yeesh!

I'll say!

And we just barely got off the train at the last stop before the wheels jumped the track . . .

Holy cow!!! This is the Cathedral I grew up in.

Being Catholic, I never attended a service there but lived in the area as well. That's the big pretty looking one right off Westminster, isn't it?

If so it's a very lovely Cathedral, which would make this story all the more troublesome.

It is on Cathedral Ave., just West of Franklin Avenue which parallels it. Franklin Avenue is the one with the big stores on it, before you turn and go out to where the mall is on what used to be Mitchell AFB. Roosevelt Raceway is also in that direction.

Garden City is not a diverse city - a well-known fact but to claim that it's racist because the houses are so expensive there is a price restriction on who lives there, is sorta crazy.

There once WAS a real estate consortium whose goal was to keep Garden City white. That ended years ago with the laws against restrictions based on "race, religion, ........" etc.

But for the Bishop, who probably gets most of his salary from the Garden City residents, to claim that the Dean or anyone else is racist, is just plain ol' crazy. He's lost it. Sounds like he needs to be retired. NOW.

Where did you live, AAABEST?
