Sorry for the vanity, folks, but I have been doing google searches for some information on national child morality rates and their causes and my results are listing state and local statistics - can anyone tell me a good resources for statistics about child mortality rates? Thanks

TOPICS: Miscellaneous
KEYWORDS: child; mortality; statistics
And how do I add something to 'Chat' so I don't put these posts in the 'Misc' forum anymore?

You really should post this in 'Your Opinion/Questions,' and avoid chat altogether. As for your question, I'd start with the U.S. Census Bureau. While you might not find the information you seek there, it might point you in the proper direction. Also, refer to the World Health Organization. Finally, the CIA World Factbook may contain some information on this matter. Good luck, and if my advice helped, please let me know.

Oh, lest I forget. Try the Department of Health and Human Services.

thanks for the tip.

And thanks for the information. I started at the Census bureau and hit a dead end - I'll look further. I also looked at the National Security Council but they aren't giving much away without one joining them first. lol I'll see what I can find on the WHO - I didn't think of them nor had I thought of the CIA World Factbook. Thanks again.

Morality or mortality? For the latter, go to the National Center for Health Statistics, specifically look here for the fact sheet on Deaths: Final Data for 2001, the last year for the completed statistics. It's broken down by age, gender, racial group, causes. There's a link for the entire PDF.

are you just looking for USA stats?

You can google infant mortality rates USA or any country and hit the first big links with any country.

Causes infant mortality USA should get you other hits.

National center for health statistics is the major source. If you go to the right document, you can get it sliced by state, race, year, age of mom, age of dad, ethnicity, smoking habits, prenatal care, cause of death, etc, etc.
