The Tale of Kallyfornia
A long time ago, in a land far, far away
A band of patriots, tired of a tyrant
Said, Lets throw off his yoke today!
This tyrant had lied to keep the throne
Hed chased off all the merchants
Because he thought all the treasure was his own
Fires were kindled, passions ran hot
The patriots said, Give me liberty or give me death!
Sign this, are you with us or not?
Thats when the voices of reason broke in
Weve done a bunch of polling
And it says you just cant win!
If you continue to hold to such unreasonable ideals
Far worse things will come upon you
All youre doing is spinning your wheels!
These voices grew louder with each passing day
Harshly they shouted
If you dont give up youll pay!
But the patriot band, whose hearts still held true
Continued to fight
To do everything they knew how to do
Soon it was apparent, to all who were observing
That the patriots were beating the odds
Because, as everyone knew, the tyrant was deserving
Thats when a voice from the rebellions critics ranks
Spoke up and said, Come follow me,
Ill be your leader, tanks!
Everyone knew this particular man
He was a famous court jester
But not of the rebel band
He was of the same persuasion as the tyrant of old
So among the fiery patriots
His compromising message just could not take hold
The rebels had already chosen from among their own
A leader who was proven o'er the years
A statesman of some reknown
You know how it all ended, since it happened long ago
But learn the lessons from the past, if you want to know
How patriots united can beat the tyranny of the status quo

Unfortunate, the patriots,
While preaching to the choir,
Saw naught the forest for the trees...
For Tom could not inspire.
It ended all in infamy
That fated recall day.
The patriots had left the state
in total disarray.
The good they would, they couldn't do,
For pride had blocked their vision...
Instead of Unity and Strengh,
They settled for division.

Some of us refuse to stand in unity with extreme leftists, and always will.
To: doodlelady
If Kallyfornia is in disarray, and it is, it is the fault of the left, not the right.
I resent you blaming conservatives for the mess.
If it continues, as it well may, don't blame those who stood for addressing the real root causes of the problem.

I blame you not for causing
all the problems of the state...
I blame you for refusing help...
A bad, self-righteous trait.
In Tom you have a candidate
Of doubtless worth, I pray.
But what's the good of vision
If his truth he can't convey?
Arnold's not the anti-Christ,
No matter what you say.
You vote for whom you want...
I vote to save the state today.

He may not be the antichrist, but he has shown all the signs of being antichristian.

Thank you very much, kind sir...
The fate of us requires
An earnest searching of the soul
No matter what transpires.
The good in each of us on FReeRepublic
Begs the need
For deep inspired wisdom
Carried out with strength and speed.
The time for sparring's gone...
The battle wages while we bicker...
And all the while what's left of freedom
Burns out in a flicker.
Clinton, do you hear this?
Davis, Bustamante too...
You've met your match
We're finally coming after ALL OF YOU!

Well said, doodlelady.
STEELWOLF: Alas, poor California! I knew her, FReepers: a state of infinite beauty, of most excellent memories: her shores hath sustained my heart a thousand times; and now, how abhorred in my imagination it is! my gorge rims at it. Here lie those lands that I have dreamt of I know not how oft. Where be your tax surplus now? your power? your common sense? your flashes of prosperity, that were wont to set the table on a roar? Not one now, to mock your own infighting? quite chap-fallen? Now get you to McClintock's chamber, and tell him, let him paint conservative values thick, to this favour he must come; make him laugh at that. Prithee, FReepers, tell me one thing.
FREEPERS: What's that, you liberal sellout dog?
STEELWOLF: Would Bustamante a better governor than Arnold make?

BTW, regarding history...
You've hounded folks here for violating "thou shalt not kill" in being willing to vote for Arnold to help California and our country... even if a Governor can't really SAVE any aborted babies, it's the "principle" of the thing, correct?
Dang good thing our Revolutionary soldiers didn't hide behind "thou shalt not kill" when it came to doing the right thing in creating our free country.... and those brave men actually had to pull triggers.

Oh, don't twist anything I've said into those kind of knots. I've never said anything of the kind.
