The Queen (Hillary Clinton) Meets the King (vanity)
Live Booksigning | Aug. 6, 2003 | Oceanperch

We traveled seven hrs. round trip to Portland.
King Vanity wanted to attend the Hillary book signing.
We called ahead and set up to be very well accomadated.
All wheelchairs are escorted to the front of the line.
Hillary showed up an hour early.
When my son King Vanity went up to get his books signed Hillary got up and came around the table to get up close and personal with King.
It made it on the late night news the King and Queen together. He still thinks she is a crook.
She really woooed over him. I was busy attending to his needs and she made a point to get my attention and put her hand out to me and said "God Bless You".
She is a short small woman. I felt she was wearing the ultra kind and dainty Hillary mask.
As we left people in the other room waiting in line looked at us with excitement. I blurted out "she's not wearing ol' crusty" and the room busted up.
We were interviewed three times after about why go if we are right wingers. I said we got the books for our Lib. friends (after all we are not haters) and my son wanted to meet/freep her.
We minded our manners at her shin dig.
We then went out and met with Freepers across the street.
So the Queen got up and came over to King Vanity.
Thanks Hillary for fawning over a 24yr. old right winger.

Hillary on Being Freeped at Living History Book Signings

Three years ago this summer when Hillary Clinton was running for the Senate as a, ahem, New Yorker, she appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. She talked about some guy in a devil suit following her around New York (our very own Doctor Raoul, in fact.)
In current interviews, she's still talking about the devil following her around at the book signings for her memoir, Living History.
Mrs. Clinton was on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno again tonight. Jay opened the interview asking how her book tour was going:
J: It's good to see you!
H: Thank you, I'm glad to be here.
J: You look very happy, you seem happy, are you, is like a happy time now?
H: Jay, it is, it's a very happy time--no it is! (Makes googoo eyes while touching Jay on the arm.) I'm having a great time. I love, you know, my work in the Senate. I love living in New York and representing New York and I'm having a great time going around the country on this book tour. I've met so many fabulous people. Yeah, I mean, I think probably in the last two months about twenty-seven thousand people have to come see me at these book signings.
J: So you've signed, your hand, um you should have one arm like this shouldn't you? (Jay holds up clawed hand and bent arm indicating carpal tunnel, Hillary does the same.)
H: Well, you know, it's such an invigorating experience. It's just this part of my body (holds wrist) from my wrist down that gets really worn out. But people have been terrific. They, you know, they come through the line, they have stories. They tell me this is the first book they've ever bought, or they bring their daughters to meet me.
J: That's not good is it?
H: No I think it's wonderful (Hillary makes googoo eyes at Jay and touches him on the arm again.)
J: No but I mean if they're an adult and this is the first book, oooo, I mean doesn't that say something about our educational system?
H: Well it might say something about, about their income. You know, I mean, cuz books to alot of people are a luxury. You know, maybe they go to the library instead. But they've been so, people have been so enthusiastic and they come through and, you know, and say things like, you know, I played pinochle, too, as a kid, you know. Or I loved your stories about going to South Asia because that's where I'm from. I mean it's just, it's been a great experience.
J: Well how about like, cuz whenever any political person, and especially you show up, there's always the crazy people. I mean there must be that one sort of guy who waits in line because he wants to say something nasty when he gets up. And he's actually bought a book so he can give his, I mean, does, has that happen, do you fear that?
H: That hasn't happened yet.
J: Oh, okay.
H: That hasn't happened yet. But what has happened is that they can't bring themselves to buy the book so they stand out, across the street yelling at me (Hillary gestures outward)
J: Laughs
H: That's fine, that's all part of the First Amendment and everything.
But they don't, they don't actually buy the book and come through to yell at me.J: Okay, so they're not that committed.
H: Not that committed. No, I think they're sorta lukewarm about it after all...

Thanks for the ping Angelwood.
"We traveled seven hrs. round trip to Portland..." - oceanperchI missed that the FIRST time that I read it.
Wow.
WHAT'S THIS? Hillary again? Sen. Hillary Clinton was back in S.F. for a book-signing appearance, this one at A Clean Well Lighted Place for Books on Van Ness.
Well over a thousand people lined up for hours, with the cue winding all the way down Turk Street to Franklin and again, around the corner. ... Bill Fothergill, a 45-year-old postal worker, winged in from Phoenix. Neither rain, snow, sleet nor hail -- if there were any -- would keep him from getting to the front door of A Clean Well Lighted at 4:30 in the morning. ... Yes, he was first in line.
Annie Krumb trundled herself in from the Marina District. "I'm not a women's lib kind of person," she said. "I just like Hillary." ... Dr. Rosemary Straley, of Santa Rosa, held a placard that read: "A Woman's Place Is in the House ... the Senate ... and the Oval Office." She said, "My husband is a lifelong Republican but he's inside, getting Hillary to sign a book." ... He also won't have to take the garbage out for a week at home. [Ugh, he's had his fill of garbage if he shook Hillary's hand!]
The adoration for the Mrs. Bill Clinton is palpable. ... A KFOG radio reporter complained to Sonal Rajan, "I can't find anybody who will say anything bad about her." Bummer.
The security for Hillary, the public servant, is tight. The team that accompanies Hillary, the author, is a model of efficiency -- a half dozen women working around her, their hands in constant motion, reaching everywhere, like the Hindu god, Shiva. This allows Hillary to sign more than 900 books in 90 minutes. She has, to date, signed 27,000 books. With her signing over, Sen. Clinton was off to Portland for a five o'clock appearance.
Working the crowd outside the bookstore was Jordanna Thigpen, a law student who also owns and operates the elegant Mask Italia on Chestnut Street, which offers ornate, high-end and otherwise spiffy masks for costume balls. Jordanna was collecting signatures at the Clinton appearance for her candidacy for governor. A good spot for it: Jordanna is a Democrat. "I collected a dozen signatures here," she says. "I have over half required before the Saturday deadline."
Why does Jordanna want to run for governor? "I am smart, driven and young. I think the leadership in Sacramento lacks energy. We have to bring businesses back to California. We have to throw out Proposition 13 -- its time is over. It is time for big changes now." ... SF Examiner
A KFOG radio reporter complained to Sonal Rajan, "I can't find anybody who will say anything bad about her."Mr/Ms Rajan must not have tried very hard. :o)
