Civic leaders in the South Bay historically have been in the forefront of campaigns to give voters more flexible tools in funding infrastructure. For example, the Silicon Valley Manufacturing Group recently announced plans to take an initiative to the ballot to lower the vote threshold for special purpose taxes. The California Legislature is considering similar proposals.

Liberals want to raise every one else's taxes. They just don't want to be the ones who have to foot the bill.

Currently, local fiscal measures for infrastructure require a two-thirds super-majority and can only be used for a single purpose. This high threshold means that most projects go unfunded.

It must not be too big of a problem for the big government liberals. Spending went up 40% under Gray Davis, while the rate of growth in California was only half that.

The liberals in government and the media are once again determined to tax and spend us into prosperity.

Last night, 7/17/2003, I heard on Fox complaints about the blacks still being the highest minority of "unemployed"...
what I didn't hear mentioned was that MOST industries are fleeing California for all of their NEW taxes being imposed by this thieving state! State disability payments by employers has risen to 65% on the dollar for each hour worked. Nevada, Arizona, here they all come! Maybe I understood, but not one of the libral news reporters ever commented on the incredible taxation burdens placed on businesses. We are leaving too... it is ridiculous.
